Investigators searching for Mollie Tibbetts in Iowa have discovered the body of a young white woman in her 20s, but they do not believe it to be the missing college student, whose whereabouts remain a mystery more than two weeks after she vanished. The unidentified woman’s remains were found in Lee County, about 100 miles southeast of Brooklyn, where Tibbetts was last seen jogging on July 18. The Iowa Department of Public Safety, however, said they have no reason to believe the body is that of Tibbetts. Officials have vetted more than 200 anonymous tips and have searched numerous areas...

Tewksbury may be a picturesque New England town, but a fight over a pig farm's stench has the community in an uproar, frustrating public officials and turning neighbors into bitter enemies. Today, one of the largest pig farms in the state sits in the midst of a growing suburban community of 30,000. Pigs live in neighborhoods where sport utility vehicles rule and backyard swimming pools are increasingly the norm. At Krochmal Farm, named for farmers who tilled the land generations ago, more than 900 pigs live in a barn perched atop a 500,000 gallon manure pit, all of which sits...

A Rosedale neighborhood's battle over Louis Montgomery's pig farm spilled over into a brawl Sunday. Kern County deputies were called out to 2000 block of Dean Avenue to handle a dispute of a painted wall between neighbors. A Kern County deputy was hit over the head with a paint roller. Three people were arrested. Montgomery ended up in jail. Kern County sheriff's Deputy Steven Williams ended up covered in green paint and blood. For the past year some of Montgomery's neighbors on Dean Avenue have been fighting to prevent the 81-year-old and his family from keeping more than two pigs...

RATHDRUM, Idaho (AP) -- A developer has threatened to make a big stink after the Kootenai County Commission denied his request to rezone property he owns at the edge of town for a professional building. Specifically, Steve Nagel plans to park a pig farm on the site, with hundreds of squealing porkers greeting visitors to the northern Idaho town. (snip) Nagel doesn't want to be in the city because he would have to pay an estimated $300,000 to extend a sewer line a half-mile and a water line a mile under railroad tracks to the property. The property of the United Nations is among the most valuable real estate in Manhattan and could prove to be a gold mine of residential development on the East Side were the world body to relocate, industry experts said. Rockrose is building a luxury residential development across the East River in Long Island City. "It doesn't get any better than this," Mr. McMillan said. "This site could fetch over $500 million, with residential and commercial developers alike...

TORONTO -- Police are investigating a 34-year-old woman in the case of more than 50 women missing from Vancouver's gritty downtown east side, CBC's "Sunday Report" said. While Gina Houston has denied any connection with the missing women, mostly prostitutes and drug users, she told the program she believes she's the principal suspect still at large.
