Trying to locate the name of a relatively recent movie: The plot line as I remember it from the ad, was that an ordinary Joe, accidental takes a "pill" that causes him to be able to use a large percentage of his brain, in a conscious state, and makes him the smartest man on the planet. The person who made the pill, takes umbrage, and becomes the antagonist. I've been trying out all the permutations of key worhds on IMDB to no joy. Any help appreciated.

FDA announces review of birth control pills over serious blood clot risks by Peter J. Smith Wed Jun 01 5:32 PM EST WASHINGTON, D.C., June 1, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Federal drug regulators are now reviewing studies that say some modern birth control pills may pose a serious risk of clots to women who take them. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced Tuesday that they were conducting a safety review of birth control products containing drospirenone, a synthetic female sex hormone or progestin. German pharmaceutical maker Bayer’s oral contraceptives Yaz, Yasmine, Safyral, Beyaz, and their generics are part...
  • Study: New pill greatly reduces HIV risk for men

Men who are HIV-negative and who faithfully use a daily pill containing drugs to treat HIV can greatly reduce their risk of acquiring the deadly virus, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) says in a study released on Tuesday. "These results represent a major advance in HIV prevention research," said Dr. Kevin Fenton, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD and TB Prevention. "For the first time, we have evidence that a daily pill used to treat HIV is partially effective for preventing HIV among gay and bisexual men at...
  • Girls as young as 13 can get the Pill from chemists without seeing a doctor for the first time

Girls as young as 13 can get the Pill without seeing a doctor for the first time. Teenagers below the legal age of consent will be able to walk into their local pharmacist and get the contraceptive tablets over the counter. The scheme, which is being introduced in a bid to reduce soaring underage pregnancy rates, will mean young girls can go on the Pill without informing their parents. But critics warn that it is effectively giving teenagers a license to have more sex, so will just encourage greater promiscuity.

CINCINNATI, Ohio, OCT. 29, 2010 (Zenit.org).- Everywhere I looked this month I saw a pink ribbon. It was on my dry cleaning bag, grocery bag, coffee cup, mail catalogs, receipts, billboards … it goes on and on. Don't get me wrong. I love the color pink, and breast cancer prevention and finding a cure is critical to women today. However, I also love the truth. That is why October 2010 is a good time to take Breast Cancer Awareness Month to a whole new level with some facts which can lead to both the physical and spiritual health of women...

The (im)morality of contraception is something the majority of Christians are either uncomfortable discussing or, in some cases, simply not interested in addressing. But they should be, especially if they're truly invested in building a culture of life. It's easy for an assenting Catholic like myself — despite the widespread dissent among Catholics on this issue — to harp on the intrinsic immorality of contraception and its inseparable connection to abortion. So I was pleasantly surprised to see that an Evangelical Christian, Bryan C. Hodge, has given the issue serious treatment in his book The Christian Case against Contraception: Making...

It’s probably not a stretch to say that most people in our pill crazy society don’t know exactly how any one of their prescription drugs work. Here is a short version (below on left; click video to view) of the documentary 28 Days on the Pill highlighting how many people are uninformed about how hormonal contraceptives work: Not only does the pill not totally prevent pregnancy, but it can have some harmful, even deadly, side-effects on the woman as well, including an increased risk of breast cancer. A Prophecy Fulfilled Fr. Stanislas de Lestapis, a French Jesuit, died in 1999 at the age of 94. He had been a member of the Papal Commission on Birth Control and was one of the signatories of its so-called Minority Report. He had published a book on Birth Control, of which the third edition appeared in 1962, long before Humanae Vitae (1968). In Chapter 7, on The Contraceptive Civilization, he made the following bold prophecies: 'We do not hesitate to say that the acceptance of contraception will produce profound changes in our civilization. These changes are already taking place in...

This summer marks the 40th anniversary of the publication of Pope Paul VI’s encyclical Humanae Vitae. It is hard to believe that so many years have passed, more than a generation. How swiftly it has gone, and how changed is the face of our world. Let us not blame war or economic trouble or abortion for the current state of the world, for this would be to blame symptoms and ignore the source of the disease. It is, in fact, contraception that is destroying Western civilization. In many of the documents of Vatican II and in subsequent papal encyclicals, the...

Scientists claim that they are close to developing a “magic pill”, which allows people to live beyond 100, and be fit and healthy. An international team is working on the miracle pill after the scientists have identified genes that extend life and prevent diseases including Alzheimer’s, diabetes and even cancer, the Daily Express reported. Professor Nir Barzilai, one of the world’s leading researchers into the ageing process, told experts at London’s Royal Society that the “magic pill” could be on sale in 18 months. One key factor seen in people who reach 100 is high levels of the “good” cholesterol...

PEOPLE will be given pills to live healthily beyond 100 within TWO YEARS, a top professor revealed yesterday. The drugs - a spin-off from research into age-related illnesses such as Alzheimer's - are already being developed. Professor Nir Barzilai, one of the world's leading experts on ageing, said as he joined fellow scientists at a London conference: "Pharmaceutical companies are developing these drugs now. "They will probably be available for testing from 2012." The astonishing breakthrough follows intensive research into what makes cells die - and why some people dodge major illnesses such as cancer, diabetes and dementia to live...

Wednesday May 12, 2010 Aging Sex Icon Raquel Welch: Contraceptives Shattered Marriage, the 'Cornerstone of Civilization' By Kathleen GilbertMay 12, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Once hailed as the female sex symbol Playboy deemed the "Most Desired Woman" of the 1970s, actress Raquel Welch has now taken a more critical look at the contraceptive revolution during which she shot to stardom. In a recent column for CNN, Welch rejoices in the experience of pregnancy, and laments the havoc that the free-sex ethos has wreaked on marriage and family life. Welch opens her column by noting that, after Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger...

WASHINGTON — Fifty years after the birth control pill went on the US market, millions of women around the world are still under orders from the Roman Catholic hierarchy to eschew its use. But all indications are that women stopped listening long ago. "Catholics use the pill the same way everyone else does... Priests don't even preach against it any more," said Jon O'Brien, president of Catholics for Choice. "There is no evidence that the teachings of the church influence Catholics in their decisions about the kind of contraception they actually use," said Frances Kissling. The lead author of a...

More than 80% of the male bass fish in Washington's major river are now exhibiting female traits such as egg production because of a "toxic stew" of pollutants, scientists and campaigners reported yesterday. Intersex fish probably result from drugs, such as the contraceptive pill, and other chemicals being flushed into the water and have been found right across the US.

For the first time ever, the Pentagon is requiring military bases worldwide to offer the so-called morning-after pill. WASHINGTON - The Pentagon for the first time will require military bases worldwide to offer emergency contraception or the so-called morning-after pill, a military spokesman told Fox News Friday. The decision follows a recommendation by an independent panel of doctors and pharmacists in November, Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said. The panel determined that emergency contraception should be added to the military's list of medications that must be stocked at each military facility. The decision represents a policy shift from the Bush administration...

(edit)Scientists say the hormones in the oral contraceptive suppress a female's interest in masculine men  - and make boyish men more attractive.   Dr Alexandra Alvergne, of the University of Sheffield, says the Pill could also be altering the way women pick mates - and could have long term implications for society.  'There are many obvious benefits of the Pill for women, but there is also the possibility that the Pill has psychological side effects that we are only just discovering,' she said.  'We need further studies to find out what these are.'  (edit)  Scientists have long known that a...
