You have no reason to heed my advice, as fashion and I had a parting of the ways shortly after I stopped reporting for work on a daily basis. But this is a big story and you need to be aware, especially since tomorrow is Valentine’s day and you may be tempted to don something in your favorite shade of near-red: WARNING! PINK IS NOW A POLITICAL STATEMENT. According to Mr. Kors, pink this season is about power, specifically, “the idea that women today want to feel feminine but also powerful, strong and independent.” In the wake of the recent...

When Donald Trump ran for president he put his clear, simple message on the front of bright red hats. The message was perfect. The choice of a hat instead of a t-shirt or other garment was perfect. The color red was perfect for his message – bold, sexy, and important. The hats were a master class in branding and influence. Political historians will be referring to Trump’s hats for ages. Compare that to the Million Woman March. They chose pink because – I assume – it is a bit of an ironic color for women who are fighting for their...

Women all across America are planning to festoon themselves with knitted, pink “pussy power hats” during a march on Washington, D.C. - and other cities - scheduled for January 21, the day after Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration. The organizers of the Pussyhat Project hope to make "a powerful visual statement" at the Women’s March on Washington by having a large number of women show up wearing the hats. The "pussy power hats," which feature perky cat-like ears, are a cinch to make, organizers say. "Knitters, crocheters and sewers of all levels" can make the hats at home - preferably...

Pink snow may be aesthetically pleasing, but scientists have found that it is indicative of the rapid pace of global warming. This snow, which thrives in high-latitude and high-altitude regions, is found in areas comparable to the Arctic, where Chlamydomonas nivalis algae, which is normally green, has a chemical reaction to the UV rays from the sun and takes on a reddish-pink hue. Scientists have been aware of rose-tinted snow since 1818, but they initially misunderstood its origins, believing it came about as a result of iron deposits left behind by a meteor. However, subsequent findings from the same year...

A waitress in Des Moines, Iowa, was stiffed on a tip by a customer who had a beef with her pink hair. Taelor May Beeck was working at Zombie Burger on Tuesday when one of her customers came to settle a $17.26 tab. But the customer didn’t leave a gratuity — just a gratuitous insult, according to the Des Moines Register. The receipt read: “Tips are only for normal looking people.”

Fresh off their recent victory in having same-sex marriage legalized, many of the movement’s organizers are now turning to gun control as the next hot social issue, or so reports the New Yorker. “Marriage-equality activists in every state were armed with a talking-points tip sheet from WhyMarriageMatters.org whose logo reads “Love. Commitment. Family.” The one-page memo talks about the protection of religious freedom, the golden rule, family stability, and mutual respect. In the fight for marriage equality, the left borrowed the language of the right, in other words, and used it consistently and explicitly to bring the opposition along. Now...

You know those pink coconut marshmallow cakes you find on convenience store shelves...? If you get too many of them together in close proximity, critical mass is reached and an explosion ensues. The explosion creates tens of new pink coconut marshmallow cakes per cake found on the shelf. This, in turn, causes another explosion, which occurs a few hours, when the cakes heat up again. This is known by Military EOD specialists and government teams dedicated to controlling these outbreaks, as a Pink Coconut Marshmallow Cake Event (PCMCE). In the effort to make these dangerous snacks more acceptable, Hostess renamed...

Every year, as October comes around, many breast cancer victims like me find themselves inwardly groaning. How can efforts purportedly for our benefit be so tragically off the mark, and even immoral? Yet every year, it seems that the public is somehow transported into a fake pink world of good intentions.Instead of telling you my particular story, or that of my daughter, IÂ’d like to share some thoughts and facts with you. Perhaps, slowly, we can get the charitable care of cancer victims out of the merchandising field and into the human support arena. Most of all, I urge you...

The State Department is dismissing a three-year old letter written by then-Senator John FN Kerry on behalf of Code Pink members seeking access to Gaza as a 'form letter' after the letter came to prominence again this week. A State Department official reportedly told The Blaze, “The letter from then-Senator Kerry regarding the humanitarian mission in Israel and the Palestinian territories was a form letter that was auto-penned — standard constituent mail that congressional members send out as a common practice,” the official said. “Senator Kerry never saw it, nor did his senior staff see it. October is the pink month for the NFL. Players, coaches, cheerleaders and even stadiums are adorned with the color to promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The league also sells pink merchandise (hats, jerseys, etc.) and donates a portion of the proceeds to the American Cancer Society. How much of the proceeds? Well, not a whole lot. ESPN’s Darren Rovell is reporting (via Business Insider) that the league takes a “25 percent royalty from the wholesale price (1/2 retail), donates 90 percent of royalty to American Cancer Society.”

Every October, pink becomes one of the primary colors on display around the NFL as part of the league’s breast cancer awareness campaign. Last year, the league had the referees in a Dolphins-Jets game use pink penalty flags and they extended it to the entire league on Sunday. Given all of the other pink on uniforms, around the field and on television graphics, it made it hard to see when a flag was down.

Former Pink Floyd bass player and vocalist Roger Waters offended some audience members at a concert last week when he raised a pig-shaped balloon emblazoned with the iconic Jewish symbol the Star of David and a variety of fascist symbols. Waters has been a prominent pro-Palestinian activist, publicly advocating the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) campaign to boycott Israel and is now being called “an open hater of Jews.” Ynet reports that at Waters’ show in Belgium last Saturday, a balloon in the shape of a pig was raised overhead and on it a Star of David along with “symbols of...

It is interesting to observe how the US government and major media are staying silent on the case of Bradley Manning, the 25-year-old private first-class in the Army who leaked a vast collection of classified documents to the whistleblower website WikiLeaks. Those of us who consider him a true American hero for what he did can finally heave a sigh of relief now that the word "accused" need no longer be affixed to his whistleblower status. On February 28, before a military judge, Manning acknowledged responsibility for releasing the information and pleaded guilty to 10 of the 22 charges facing...
