Happy Holidays: Now dispose of all of your ammunition! Every last round! From now on, you will be able to buy only overpriced ammunition that will be registered to you in a government database. Not yet--at least for now. A small company, Ammunition Accountability--which wants to help anti-gunners price and regulate the Second Amendment out of existence, profit at the expense of our rights, or both--has found radical anti-gun legislators in 18 states willing to introduce bills pushing such nonsense. But few anti-gun proposals are so overtly aimed at destroying the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. As we began...

Gun Sales Thriving In Uncertain Times By Fredrick Kunkle Washington Post Staff Writer Monday, October 27, 2008; Page A01 Americans have cut back on buying cars, furniture and clothes in a tough economy, but there's one consumer item that's still enjoying healthy sales: guns. ...SNIP... Several variables drive sales, but many dealers, buyers and experts attribute the increase in part to concerns about the economy and fears that if Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois wins the presidency, he will join with fellow Democrats in Congress to enact new gun controls. ...SNIP... "Even though [Obama] has a lot going for him,...

Every DA/SA semi that I have shot (SIG P232, P226, P229, P239) has had a decocker but not a safety. Is that setup true for all DA/SAs? That is, do all DA/SAs have decockers but no safeties? Or are there exceptions? What reason would a manufacturer have for putting a safety on a DA/SA? Wouldn't it be redundant with the safety feature of the long initial trigger pull? Another question: do all SAO semis have safeties but not decockers, or are there exceptions? Again, if there are, what reason would a manufacturer have for putting a decocker on a SAO...

An Alabama boy has used his revolver on an enormous wild boar, killing the animal and sending the youngster on his way to 15 minutes of fame. Or more.Advertisement Jamison Stone, 11, used a .50 caliber revolver to kill the pig at a commercial hunting preserve in east Alabama about three weeks ago. Stone, his father and two guides tracked the pig, but bagging the swine took about three hours of chasing through hilly woods before a final shot at point blank range brought it down for good. Stone's father, Mike Stone, says the animal weighed more than a thousand...

**URGENT** **URGENT** **URGENT** VCDL has just learned from our sources on Capitol Hill that the Department of the Interior (DOI) is **livid** over the National Park Service's (NPS) asinine rejection letter sent to VCDL concerning VCDL's Petition for Rule Making! (http://www.vcdl.org/pdf/NPS_Denial_of_VCDL_PRM.pdf) That petition would allow a law-abiding citizen to carry a handgun for self-defense in a National Park if the state in which the park is located allows such carry. Apparently the National Park Service DID NOT CLEAR that rejection letter with their parent - the Department of the Interior! The Department of Interior had been telling VCDL and key...

Jeff Cooper, a firearms expert who formulated the widely used "modern technique of the pistol" and founded a highly regarded firearms training center in Arizona, has died. He was 86. Cooper, an author and longtime Guns & Ammo magazine columnist who had experienced health problems in recent years, died Monday at his home near the training center on Gunsite Ranch, his family said. ADVERTISEMENTA big-game hunter and retired Marine Corps lieutenant colonel, Cooper founded what was originally called the American Pistol Institute on Gunsite Ranch in the Sonora Desert just west of Paulden, Ariz., in 1976. The training center expanded...

I have a Hopkins and Allen pistol. It looks like the safety police models that I have seen on the web. This one has a four inch barrel, however. It does have the same, mildly abused finish and black grips. On the metal on the bottom of the grips are the two numbers 88 and 600, one over the other. On top of the barrel is "Hopkins and Allen Mfg. Co." and underneath that line is "Norwich, Ct. U.S.A. Pat. Jan. 15 Oct. 15 86". Does that mean that it was made in 1886? How much is it worth?

<p>An arsenal of exotic weapons - including a sniper rifle, a spear and a set of 8-inch metal claws - were seized from a 23-year-old Jersey City man after his worried father called cops. When South District cops responded to the Greenville home yesterday morning, they found the sniper rifle - with a powerful scope and a laser sight - as well as three Glock handguns and more than 1,200 rounds of ammunition, reports said. Among the bullets were illegal "hollow-point" rounds, police said. In addition to the spear and metal claws, cops found a number of savage-looking knives, including one that had blades coming out of each end of its carved wooden handle. The owner of the weapons lived with his father, his brother and two younger brothers, police said.</p>

Senior Staff Writer (CNSNews.com) - New York City's mayor is blasting a congressional proposal under which several temporary federal gun regulations would become permanent law. Michael Bloomberg claimed the legislation "would explicitly impinge on our ability to fight illegal gun trafficking, and it would result in the shooting deaths of innocent people." But an attorney who specializes in federal firearms laws calls Bloomberg's claims "patently false." The House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime Terrorism and Homeland Security met Tuesday to discuss the "Firearms Correction and Improvement Act" (H.R. 5005) introduced last week by Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas). Smith wrote the bill...

I am considering buying a pistol for personal, home protection. I don't expect to have any concealed carry needs/opportunities/license. I am pretty well settled on 45ACP as a benchmark for stopping power. I am also limiting my preferences to American manufacturers. I don't expect to do a lot of shooting, except for regular practice to maintain proficiency. I've seen a lot of discussion of various weapons and I'm really asking for views on reliability, durability, user-friendliness, safety and degree of kickback for the Ruger P345PR. If anyone suggests another American made 45, please tell me why it would be preferred...

I always enjoy a good gun thread, and I wanted to start one today. I would like to know what kind of experience anyone has had with this new pistol, or any other Springfield Armory pistol for that matter. I've drooled over it on the website before, but today was the first time I was able to lay hands on it. It's one beautiful piece of ugly and I want one, but I have never been around a Springfield product before. Any thoughts would be helpful before I go and lay down some cash for this.

Tonight the Militia, Police and Public Safety subcommittee heard several gun bills and here are the results: HB 162, Delegate Lingamfelter, allows a person to have a firearm locked in their vehicle in private parking lots. The bill was amended to exempt vehicles owned by a company or parking lots that had gates and/or guards that limited public access. I spoke in favor of the bill. The bill PASSED out of subcommittee and is now on its way to the full committee! Whaa Hooo! HB 705, Delegate Hogan, a bill to take away the ability of a county to regulate...

NEW ORLEANS -- The Algiers Point militia put away its weapons Friday as Army soldiers patrolled the historic neighborhood across the Mississippi River from the French Quarter. But the band of neighbors who survived Hurricane Katrina and then fought off looters has not disarmed. "Pit Bull Will Attack. We Are Here and Have Gun and Will Shoot," said the sign on Alexandra Boza's front porch. Actually, said the woman behind the sign, "I have two pistols." "I'm a part of the militia," Boza said. "We were taking the law into our own hands, but I didn't kill anyone." She did...

LINCOLN - She has a .38, and she knows how to shoot it. State Sen. Jeanne Combs bought her Smith & Wesson revolver 11 years ago for protection while traveling rural Jackson County, Ky., often at night, as a home health-care and hospice nurse. State Sen. Jeanne Combs believes she can accomplish what three male lawmakers in 10 years before her could not: to persuade the Nebraska Legislature to authorize carrying concealed handguns. A nurse at the Farmland Foods meatpacking plant in Crete, Combs is a down-home woman with roots in Kentucky and the mill towns of Ohio. Now 49,...

SPRINGFIELD -- Average citizens could carry concealed weapons under two bills that won overwhelming approval in a House committee Tuesday, setting up a rare, full-blown House floor fight over the issue that advocates say will make people safer and critics contend will lead to more gun violence. The move further buttressed the National Rifle Association's strategy to not only blunt Mayor Richard Daley's push for gun-control laws but to take the fight to him with a frontal assault of its own."I'm heartsick," said House Majority Leader Barbara Flynn Currie (D-Chicago), a major advocate of gun control. The NRA is on a...

The most heartening language trend of 2004 was the revival of the old-fashioned insult. When MSNBC's Chris Matthews, sitting in the safety of his studio, had some tough questions for U.S. Sen. Zell Miller, D-Ga., after Miller's over-the-top keynote address at the Republican National Convention, Miller went all Aaron Burr on him: "I wish I was over there, where I could get a little closer into your face. . . . I wish we lived in the day where you could challenge a person to a duel." Miller was giving away about 20 years and 90 pounds to Matthews. But...

I'm sure that you have all been told: "Don't oil your pistol/revolver because it will jam or lock up." WRONG ANSWER! Ten or twenty years ago that might have been partially true. The lubricants that were available then were completely different than the modern ones available today. I have disassembled thousands of firearms over the last thirty some odd years and have also probably tried just about every "Snake Oil" that's been available during that time. It has been my observation that the oils that were available during the years prior to the 1970's and 80's contained paraffins that turned...

The NH Joint Legislative Committee on Administrative Rules approved new rules – now, someone with a valid license to carry from any state, not just their own home state, is eligible for a license in New Hampshire. (Before, only home state licensee's were eligible). Here is the link to the new "Chapter Saf-C 2100 Nonresident Pistol/Revolver License" rules: www.gencourt.state.nh.us/rules/saf-c2100.html For example: Florida offers a "shall issue" carry license to any U.S. citizen. With any one of those licenses anyone can get a New Hampshire carry license, even if one's home state does not issue (such as New Jersey). The application...

(AP) Foreigners fearing strikes by terrorists in Saudi Arabia will be allowed to carry guns, the police minister announced, following a rash of militant bombings, attacks and kidnappings targeting Western workers in the Gulf kingdom. Long Live The Second Amendment! Hi all, I am looking for recommendations for gun safe makers, models and features. I do not have a particularly large gun collection and it will probably never be that large. Probably never beyond 4-5 long guns and 4-5 pistolas. As I happen to have other small objects of value I also want to be able to store other items in this safe and keep everything safe from fire damage should my humble abode "ketch far". I have done some research and my gunsmith has his recommendations. But I know there is alot of firearms...

One in six Indiana lawmakers has a permit to carry a firearm, and some even pack their guns when they saunter onto the floor of the Indiana House and Senate, The Journal Gazette in Fort Wayne reported Sunday. These pistol-packing politicians have no problem with the availability of weapons in the Statehouse, and some even welcome the guns given the lax security at the state Capitol. "If someone opens fire from the balcony, I want all the guns I can shooting back. Unless, of course, there are school kids up there," said Rep. Matthew Whetstone, whose small .22-caliber pistol weighs...

There is a big debate among shooters about which is better, IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association) or IPSC (International Practical Shooting Confederation). Actually it's a stupid question with a simple answer; Neither is better! Comparing these two formats is like comparing Chevrolet and Pontiac or Ford and Mercury. They are closely related, and the one that is "Better" is simply the one that you prefer. The formats of the two are certainly different, and the equipment is certainly different, but they both have the goal of improving your shooting skills in a safe, competetive, enjoyable, environment. I shoot both IPSC...

WASHINGTON, DC -- An allied military plan to confiscate weapons in Iraq may destabilize the nation further by giving the green light to street thugs and Baath Party loyalists who are terrorizing innocent civilians, says the Libertarian Party. "Imposing this gun grab is like declaring war on Iraq for a second time," said Geoffrey Neale, Libertarian Party chairman. "How many innocent men, women and children will be kidnapped, robbed or murdered because their U.S. 'protectors' turned self-defense into a crime?" Iraqi citizens will be forced to surrender their heavy weapons under a proclamation expected this week from U.S. and British...

January 15, 2003 Group Unites Gays Who Use Guns By MARYCLAIRE DALE ASSOCIATED PRESS PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Lisa Miner had just let her dogs out one afternoon when she noticed a stranger inside her enclosed front porch. Posted on Friday, August 16, 2002 at 07:55 PM by rhamilton at www.packing.org I was recently "invited" to initiate a study regarding the feasibility of establishing a national organization of state administrators of concealed weapon permit programs. Its purpose would to be to get all the "rule and law makers" together on the same sheet of music and determine acceptable standards for the issuance of CCW permits that everyone (each state) can live with. Obviously, the point is to establish reciprocity amongst all participating states. National reciprocity bills continue to fail, so this may be the next best thing. I...

(West Haven-AP Apr. 25, 2002 7:30 AM)_ Teachers at West Haven High School are questioning why a student who brought a gun to school was only suspended, not expelled. School officials confirm that a teacher found a gun earlier this year in a student's coat, which he left behind in a classroom. After the gun was found, administrators suspended the student for ten days and hired a tutor to teach him at home for 45 days. George Mack of the teachers' union says the teachers are concerned that any kid who was known to have a gun is coming back...
