  • An Obamacare Statist Gets Caught Lying (over and over again)

Many of you probably heard about the “Halbig” decision, in which a federal court struck a blow against Obamacare by ruling that the IRS was wrong to arbitrarily grant subsidies for health insurance policies purchased through a federal exchange. And why did the judges rule against the IRS? Well, for the simple reason that the Obamacare legislation specifically says that subsidies are only available for policies purchased through exchanges set up by state governments. My Cato colleague Michael Cannon explains: The PPACA authorizes the IRS to issue health-insurance tax credits only to taxpayers who purchase coverage “through an Exchange established...

Obama and Kerry Pressure Israel to Leave Hamas AlonePosted By Joseph Klein On July 28, 2014 @ 12:50 am In Daily Mailer,FrontPage | 12 Comments President Obama is seeking to pressure Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu into agreeing to an immediate unconditional ceasefire. In a phone call on Sunday, Obama reportedly told the Israeli prime minister that such a ceasefire was “a strategic imperative.” Obama specifically referred to the ceasefire proposed by Secretary of State John Kerry, which Israel’s security cabinet rejected unanimously last Friday.Israel has been willing to observe several humanitarian pauses, primarily on a unilateral basis. Hamas went along...

Yesterday was the deadline (kinda) for the Obamacare exchange. And while this Administration has decided to recognize deadlines with the same uncompromising dedication they show for the Constitution (please, please, please invent a sarcasm font), they still felt the need to “brag” about the millions that have signed up on the Obamacare website… After prolonged loading times (leave it to the government to bring the experience of the DMV into the 21st century), over 6 million individuals have signed up. Math, as it turns out, continues to be the plague of Obamabots everywhere. While the Administration makes claims about a...
  • State of the Union Cancelled – Will Air Reruns of Previous Speeches Instead

Will he pivot (again) to job creation? Will there be another major, and unattainable, goal set forth tonight? Will President Barack Obama call on Congress to “work together”? Well… Yeah. In fact, I have been told by very dependable sources, that Obama’s teleprompter will randomly jumble together “highlights” from past speeches for tonight’s State of the Union. And, assuming the word corpsmen is spelled out phonetically, everything should run smoothly. Our cut-and-paste President is expected to underscore his desire to act imperially without the cumbersome process of representative government. He is expected to “address” the income inequality that got worse...

Retailers and investors are bemoaning the fact that Black Friday sales failed to put stores back in the black for the year. In fact, this year, it might as well be called Red Friday, in regards to the ledger balances that stores were reporting Monday morning. Many excuses have surfaced, including the populist notion that stores angered their would-be shoppers by opening on Thanksgiving Day. In reality, given the economic “health” of America in the age of Obamanomics, a holiday spending splurge was never really in the cards for 2013. While some people like to direct their anger toward the...

What would you do next if you had successfully brokered a “Neville Chamberlin” style deal with a rogue state that wants to annihilate America and her Middle East allies? Well. . . You’d downgrade diplomatic ties with the Vatican, of course. At least, that’s what you would do if you were working in the Obama White House. The White House has recently announced that they will shut down the US Embassy to the Holy See, and relocate it to a “safer” location on the grounds of the American Embassy in Italy. Officially, the US is explaining the relocation effort as...

This cartoon published in The Sunday Times (subscription-only) would be offensive at the best of times. That it has appeared on Holocaust Memorial Day is doubly so.Penned by Gerald Scarfe (the cartoonist behind Pink Floyd’s The Wall), the caption reads: “Israeli Elections… Will Cementing Peace Continue?”A hideous looking PM Benjamin Netanyahu caricature builds a wall cemented with blood, crushing Palestinians including women and children.Israel’s security barrier (of which the vast majority is a fence and not a wall) is meant to protect Israeli civilians against Palestinian terrorism. In any case, the imagery of this cartoon amounts to a blood libel...

Back in 2008, shortly after Sarah Palin was nominated for VP, a political cartoon came out that was a spoof of the old Maxwell "Blown Away" ad. Instead of a guy in the chair, it was the Republican Elephant. I have been attempting to locate this online for the past few days, but have been unsuccessful. Does anyone still have a link to this?

Face Fwd Comments: No one likes pollution and that includes conservatives. We have to drink the same water and breath the same air as everyone else. While we are united with the world on clean water and air, we are not backing Global Climate Change. The Earth movement was hijacked by the likes of Al Gore as a means to gain political clout. When that didn't work he and his cronies created slogans like “Carbon Footprint” to gain the power he could not through politics. While Al will make his billions through the trading of carbon points, it has grown...

We are about to mark the 70th anniversary of the start of World War Two. And after 70 years, and innumerable books and films, it seems as if many people in Western intellectual circles still have great difficulty in understanding what Nazism was. The NY Times cartoon claiming that Israel is equivalent to the Nazis shows this. To speak of the Nazis is not to speak of bad or mean people, or people who killed some civilians by accident. The word is, to say the least, overused today. For me to see this cartoon was especially shocking after just having...

There is a great great cartoon in the hard copy of the NY Sun today. I can't find it online. It harkens back to this well-known scene from "Uncle Tom's Cabin" in which Eliza is crossing the ice.Click to see enlarged picture of Eliza crossing the iceIn today's cartoon by Elliot Banfield, we see Condi crossing the ice. Instead of Eliza carrying a child, we see Condi near a sign pointing to the State Department. The nasty-looking dogs who are tracking her are labeled Kerry, Biden and Boxer.

I'm not sure how to do this and hope it is done correctly. Please delete if a dupe. I did not find it on search. This cartoon was in the Houston Chronicle today, Sunday Oct 17, 2004, but on tracking down the origin, it was in the LA Times Oct 14..... In any case, it depicts Kerry's "nuisance" statement quite succinctly!

Are those the eyes of a statesman? What about the ears? Close to the skull or practically perpendicular? Even as he ponders the war, the economy, Michael Jackson and the other issues weighing on the republic, Mike Luckovich must also study the facial features of the leading actors on the national stage. Luckovich the citizen has not made up his mind about the Democrats running for president. But Luckovich...

I saw the political cartoon over the weekend depicting Johnny Cash and John Ritter in silhouette walking away with Johnny Cash saying to him, "C'mon, John...June and your Daddy are already up on stage!".I love that cartoon. It pointed out something alot of people didn't know about John Ritter, that his dad was Tex Ritter. There were similar cartoons. One depicting the firemen from 9-11 at the gates of Heaven with one on a walkie-talkie saying "We have reached the top.".And another from the shuttle tragety depicting the shuttle flying thru the opened gates. I can't find those two cartoons....
