  • Hey Pope, the Christian Walls of Vienna saved western Europe from Islam

Someone should remind the Pope that walls saved Christendom from Islam. Constantinople's walls held it back for 500 years but those walls failed and we know the sad outcome. Luckily, the Walls of Vienna held off Islam, twice or Islam would have advance deep into Germany and maybe beyond. A section of the old bastions (Molkerbastei) preserved to retain an old house and a relief celebrating the 1683 fights which took place on that site (The relief shows Christian soldiers behind a wall killing invading Turkish Muslims).

Vatican: Pope Was Not Singling out Trump With His Remarks By frances d'emilio, associated press VATICAN CITY — Feb 19, 2016, 12:01 PM A spokesman for Pope Francis insisted Friday the pontiff was "in no way" launching an attack on Donald Trump, a U.S. presidential candidate, nor was he trying to sway voters by declaring someone who advocates building walls isn't Christian. The Rev. Federico Lombardi, in an interview on Vatican Radio, stressed that Francis often speaks about building bridges, not walls, and that his remark on Thursday wasn't "a personal attack" on the business mogul. ...snip... A spokesperson for Pope Francis clarified the pontiff's criticism of Donald Trump's plan to build a border wall, saying that the remark wasn't "a personal attack." "The Pope said what we already know, if we followed his teaching and positions: we shouldn't build walls, but bridges," the spokesperson said in a statement, according to CNBC. "It's his generic view, coherent with the nature of solidarity from the gospel." "This wasn't, in any way, a personal attack or an indication on who to vote for," the spokesperson continued. "The Pope has clearly said he didn't want to get involved in the...
  • BREAKING NEWS: Pope attacks Trump saying he is 'not Christian' for wanting to build a wall (tr)

U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is 'not Christian' because of his views on immigration, Pope Francis said on his way back to Rome from Mexico. The pope said, however, he did not want to advise American Catholics on whether or not to vote for Trump. In a freewheeling conversation with reporters on his flight back from a visit to Mexico, Francis was asked about Trump and some of his statements, such as vowing to build a wall between the United States and Mexico if he becomes president. ABOARD THE PAPAL AIRLINER -- Inserting himself into the Republican presidential race, Pope Francis on Wednesday suggested that Donald J. Trump "is not Christian" because of the harshness of his campaign promises to deport more immigrants and force Mexico to pay for a wall along the border. "A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian," Francis said when a reporter asked him about Mr. Trump on the papal airliner as he returned to Rome after his six-day visit to Mexico.
