Can those who call themselves "pro-life" or "pro-choice" in what some call the "abortion wars," find some common ground? We'll see. Rep. Alfred C. Adinolfi, R-Cheshire, has introduced a bill, titled "Prevent Coerced Abortions" (H.B. 6193), which has been referred to the legislature's Judiciary Committee. When the U.S. Supreme Court legalized abortion in 1973, thus making abortion more available, it not only allowed women to choose to have an abortion, it also made it easier to force a pregnant woman to have an abortion which she did not want and did not choose. A study by David Reardon, Ph.D., of...

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - A Republican lawmaker Thursday proposed a bill that would lead to a 24-hour waiting period before women could receive abortions. The bill (SB 724), filed by Sen. Anitere Flores, R-Miami, would add to part of state law that currently requires physicians to inform women about issues such as potential risks of abortions and the gestational ages of fetuses. Under the proposal, physicians would be required to provide such information at least 24 hours before abortions are performed. Also, it would require physicians to be in the same room with the women when the information is provided.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — The Kentucky Senate has passed a bill aimed at requiring doctors to perform ultrasounds prior to abortions and describe what the procedure shows to pregnant women. The measure cleared the Republican-led Senate on a 31-5 vote Thursday. The vote came hours after the bill was approved by a Senate committee. Similar proposals passed the Senate in past years but died in the Democratic-led House. Republican Sen. Julie Raque Adams of Louisville said Thursday the bill deals with an important women's health issue.

Germantown, MD – During the filming of a documentary about pro-life efforts to spare women the trauma of late-term abortions at LeRoy Carhart’s Germantown Reproductive Health Services, a clinic worker rushed out and assaulted a videographer in an attempt to prevent her from filming. Contains attack footage! VIDEO ON LINK In a video of the incident released by Two Crown Productions, a clinic worker is seen pushing videographer Wendy Wilmowski, and blocking her camera with an umbrella while Carhart gets out of a car and begins to head toward the clinic. he West Virginia House of Delegates began moving a bill Thursday to ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. The bill is very similar to one that was passed last year, only to be vetoed by Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin. The bill is one of 11 introduced so far this legislative session that seek to restrict women’s access to abortion. A similar bill passed both houses of the Legislature last year with overwhelming bipartisan support but was vetoed by Tomblin, who said he had been advised that it was unconstitutional. The House Health Committee held a public hearing on the...

What is it about photos of abortion victims that enrages people so much? On February 4, a homeowner gone wild attacked a team of Created Equal’s young pro-life activists who were demonstrating outside Beechcroft High School in Columbus, Ohio, as school was being dismissed. Video of the incident shows the man, identified as Curtis Hall, crossing the street to berate Created Equal’s Josh Bertsch and Jami Beer (pictured with police officer below left and middle) before stealing and destroying their signs. Hall shouted, “Get ‘em out of here or I am going to break ‘em.” He proceeded to knock signs...
  • Canada’s top court rules doctors can help kill patients; overturns assisted suicide law

OTTAWA, February 6, 2015 (LifeSiteNews.com) — In a momentous ruling this morning, Canada’s highest court unanimously ruled to open the door to a doctor helping kill someone nearing the end-of-life stage, a ruling comparable to the sweeping Morgentaler ruling 27 years ago that allowed a doctor to kill someone at the earliest pre-born stage of life. In Carter v. Canada, the Court overturned a previous law prohibiting assisted suicide, in effect reversing the previous 1993 Rodriguez decision in which it said the state’s obligation to “protect the vulnerable” outweighed the rights of the individual to self-determination. The ruling makes Canada join...

“It is on the issue of life that the hypocrisy of liberals is the most breathtaking. They believe flies are worth protecting, but the life of an unborn child is not. The platform of the Democratic Party asserts the right to an #abortion at any point in a pregnancy for any reason. There are those who are now fighting for abortions to be performed by non-doctors. Barbara Boxer once commented that a life is only a life when it leaves the hospital. “We know that science supports those of us who believe in the sanctity of life. “When I married...

FULL TITLE: Chilling video shows chief of staff affirming that Dem. congressman ‘does not believe in legal protection for females’ in the womb The top staffer in Democratic Congressman Tim Ryan's office has agreed that his boss “does not believe in legal protection for females” who are inside the womb, a shocking new video reveals. Yesterday, about a dozen members of Students for Life of America (SFLA) followed through with a visit to the Washington offices of Congressman Tim Ryan, a onetime “pro-life Democrat” who recently embraced abortion-on-demand. Congressman Ryan was not available, they were told, but they had a...

Some Christians wish they attended a church where the pastor or priest took a more outspoken stance against abortion. While sermons or homilies may touch on pro-life issues from time to time — or not at all — some Christians sit in their pews wondering why their church leader is reluctant to speak out against the human rights issues of our time. The folks who attend Village Church in Flower Mound, Texas don’t have that problem. Their Pastor Matt Chandler is no stranger to speaking up for life. Last year, Chandler joined millions of Christians across America come together under...

Pro-lifers outside a Bakersfield, California abortion clinic yesterday documented a patient being loaded into an ambulance. Family Planning Associates is a chain of abortion clinics in California and the Bakersfield location commits abortions up to 13 weeks. According to pro-life activist, Terri Palmquist, who regularly side walk counsels outside the abortion clinic, ambulances have been called to the clinic in the past. As the emergency unfolded yesterday, pro-lifers documented abortion clinic employees raising sheets to hide what was happening as the ambulance loaded the patient. Terri said they also documented abortion clinic employees clapping as the ambulance pulled away. PICTURES...

A bill to further restrict abortion in Oklahoma and another to make embryonic stem cell research illegal both cleared a House committee on Wednesday, despite concerns from a doctor on the panel. While activists gathered at the Capitol for the annual anti-abortion Rose Day rally, the House Public Health Committee voted mostly along party lines to approve both bills. An exception was Rep. Doug Cox, a Grove Republican and an emergency room physician who opposed both measures. One bill would increase from 24 to 72 hours the amount of time a woman must wait before receiving an abortion after receiving...

HELENA – The Montana Supreme Court on Tuesday overturned a lower-court decision that had thrown out state laws requiring parents to be notified and give consent before their underage daughter could get an abortion. The 4-1 decision said District Judge Jeff Sherlock of Helena erred when he ruled that the questions of the constitutionality of the 2011 and 2013 laws are essentially the same as had been settled when a 1995 parental-notification law was ruled unconstitutional in 1999. That ruling sends the case back to Sherlock’s court, where Attorney General Tim Fox will now defend the laws against a lawsuit...

BISMARCK -- Legislators continued their look at new bills to combat sex trafficking in North Dakota on Tuesday, taking up proposals to require school for "johns" and increased penalties for pimps that force abortions. Anti-trafficking groups are hoping for the adoption of a uniform trafficking law, increased penalties for sellers and buyers of commercial sex and significant resources for victims. Hearings on the package of bills began last week by the Senate Judiciary committee. Senate Bill 2332, from Sen. Mac Schneider, D-Grand Forks, goes after the demand for commercial sex, which many say creates the market for pimps. The bill...

This year’s “short session” of Virginia’s General Assembly is moving at an increasingly rapid pace in the House of Delegates as legislation is being reported out of committee and onto the House floor. We will soon approach cross-over, the term used for when bills passed in each house of the legislature are presented to the other for consideration. Included in this number will likely be a couple of measures I have sponsored which, having reported out of committee, I anticipate will soon gain passage. Another bill I submitted has proven more controversial, generating particular media attention last week. House Bill...

Pictures of aborted babies, when used with care and discretion, can be powerful pro-life tools. They can be credited with many pro-choice to pro-life conversions. On my own page, I hear from at least one person a day who has moved from a pro-choice to pro-life position after seeing such pictures. Women seeking abortion information who go to my site have changed their minds about having abortions after seeing them, too. One need only go to The Center for Bioethical Reform’s page “minds changed” to read testimonies from such converts. CBR has acquired many pictures and videos of aborted babies...

The archbishop of Ferrara-Comacchio has blamed Italy's economic crisis on abortions, while also describing the country's anti-homophobia law as a "crime against humanity". Italy would have been prosperous if it weren’t for the country’s women terminating their pregnancies, Luigi Negri claimed. "Abortion has stopped more than six million Italians coming into the world and the shortage of children has made us fall into this economic crisis,” he was quoted in Corriere di Bologna as saying. The 74-year-old archbishop also took issue with a law protecting gay people from hate crimes. “The law against homophobia is a crime against God and...

In the United Kingdom, a mother-of-six will be taken to the hospital and forced to undergo a sterilization. In 2014, the department of health and social services applied for permission to enter the womanÂ’s home and take her to get sterilized against her will. The woman, who has not been identified, reportedly has a learning disability. At a hearing at the Court of Protection, they argued that sterilization is necessary because the womanÂ’s health would be put at risk if she had more children. However, John McKendrick, who represented a health authority, hospital trust and council said the application for sterilization was...

Is There Life After Delivery, & Does Mother Really Exist? In a mother’s womb were two babies. One asked the other: “Do you believe in life after delivery?” The other replied, “Why, of course. There has to be something after delivery. Maybe we are here to prepare ourselves for what we will be later.” “Nonsense” said the first. “There is no life after delivery. What kind of life would that be?” The second said, “I don’t know, but there will be more light than here. Maybe we will walk with our legs and eat from our mouths. Maybe we...
