MIAMI - Another protest by air for - or more accurately against - Barack Obama. At the Democrat’s rally Tuesday evening in Miami, a single engine plane buzzed around pulling a banner asking Senator Obama and his wife, Michelle, to “repudiate” 60s radicals Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn.Republicans, including the GOP ticket, have attempted to draw attention to and amplify his relations with Ayers. Obama has consistently explained that he and Ayers simply sat on a Chicago education board together.(snip)

Members of Young Americans for Freedom came from as far away as Michigan to support a start-up chapter of YAF at Liberty University last weekend. The YAF-ers came to oppose Sen. John McCain’s immigration policies and rallied along the side of the road. After getting lots of enthusiastic responses from passing cars, they marched to the entrance of the school and demonstrated there, leaving only after the police threatened them with arrest. This action is part of a general effort to revitalize Young Americans for Freedom and create a real right-wing youth movement to mobilize against the Republican leadership for...

Bush on Thursday and shouted: "President Hu, your days are numbered. President Bush, make him stop persecuting Falun...

DODGE CITY - On Monday, John Martin, a meatpacker here, plans to skip work to attend a rally aimed at bolstering the call for immigration reform. "We want the work we do to be valued," he explained. "It's hard work in the plant." Fellow meatpacker David Gunion seconds that, wondering what would become of the plant without the workers, many of them immigrants. "Without us, the plant dies," he said. Fliers, e-mails and text messages are circulating like wildfire around southwest Kansas, calling on the zone's sizable Latino population to rally, skip work, skip school and boycott stores Monday to...

A Hard Look at the Anti-War Movement (Pardon My Long, Boring Vanity) Where did these goobers come from? I’ve asked myself this question over and over again. How did it get to this? It’s not just about dissent or protesting what you think is wrong anymore. The anti-war movement and protests encompass many issues, but all you ever see is this: Bush is evil. He is Hitler, he is a right-wing fascist, a religious fanatic, you name it. I wonder if there’s been a time since the Civil War when political discourse was so ugly. So let’s take a hard...

Veterans for Peace, the banners proclaimed as a minister said on a TV newscast, “After two years in Iraq, what have we gained … only the deaths of US soldiers and Iraqi civilians.” Most of us who are WWII veterans are all for peace. We don’t know anyone who prefers war over peace; however, we do know that it takes a war to obtain peace rather than to allow slavery or attacks by terrorists. We want a continued peace, not a temporary peace that will be regarded as a cowardly surrender by our terrorist enemies, thus causing more attacks on...

Slipstream By Wayne Boettcher Posted 08/06/2004 Conservative Americans are often quite knowledgeable and aware of many references, books and great websites they find all the time in their daily lives. It's sad for us to see the unknowing liberals charge around aimlessly spouting propaganda in their frustration and anger at uncomprehended national and world events. And yet these energetic but erroneous advocates often influence the inexperienced undecideds. How can we let both groups in on the "secrets" that do not trickle down through local newspapers, popular news magazines, or common TV news? One method would be to distribute small...

Los Angeles Daily News Loony Left impugns its own patriotism By Jan Golab I first heard "patriot" used derisively when I was a Vietnam War protester in the 1960s. "Patriot" and "flag-waver" were terms used to denigrate those we perceived as knee-jerk supporters of an immoral war. We felt we were the true patriots. We hated Nixon, because Tricky Dick portrayed us as anti-American. How dare he impugn our patriotism? As it turned out, Nixon didn't need to smear anybody. When Jane Fonda went to North Vietnam, I knew immediately that the anti-war movement should condemn her. By giving aid,...

Protesting Dems also fight tedium By Shea Andersen Tribune Reporter Texas state Sen. John Whitmire, a Houston Democrat, needs socks. Sen. Rodney Ellis, also a Houston Democrat, needs a haircut. Another Texas Democrat needs a new shirt; he wore the same one for three different televised news conferences. Welcome to life on the legislative lam. By staying away, they're preventing the Texas Senate from having a quorum. At...

DENVER - Three Roman Catholic nuns facing possible eight-year prison terms for pounding on a missile silo with hammers and smearing it with their own blood are spending their final days of freedom thanking supporters before a court decides their sentences. Right now I am living in Moscow Idaho going to the UofI. Are there any Freerepublic groups nearby or fellow Freepers? Looking in the vincinity of Lewiston, Clarkston, Moscow, Pullman, and Spokane. If you are interested in supporting America please reply. Also reply if you have info on how you started a chapter. I am just tired of all the publicity the anti-war protests are getting. It is time to rise up and...

LONDON (Reuters Health) - Taking part in protests and demonstrations can be good for your physical and mental health, a new British study suggests. Psychologists at the University of Sussex found that people who get involved in campaigns, strikes and political demonstrations experience an improvement in psychological well-being that can help them overcome stress, pain, anxiety and depression. The finding fits in with other studies suggesting that positive experiences and feeling part of a group can have beneficial effects on health. "Collective actions, such as protests, strikes, occupations and demonstrations, are less common in the UK than they were perhaps...

I desided to post this after an aborted FReep, as of now. Many people have expectations about FReepin' that are not met and they get discourgaged. So I desided to post my own experiences, they also reflect on what others have experienced. Rules. 1. Never expect anyone but you will show up. This is true, but one person with a sign can make a difference. The first FReep we had in Eastern Mass had after the election four of us showed up, 2500 of them, we won. The danger involved is overstated. This is true when FReepin' the commies, Freein'...

Government officials have decided that foxhunting will be illegal in Scotland from the beginning of August, confirming a law that pro-hunting activists say will destroy the Scottish rural economy. Legislators in the regional Scottish Parliament approved the ban in February and from Aug. 1 anyone caught hunting foxes or any other wild mammal with dogs will be subject to fines and up to six months in jail. Landowners allowing hunting on their property could also face prosecution. Scottish Rural Affairs Minister Ross Finnie signed the legislation and earlier indicated his intention to enact the law before the start of the...
