Sen. John McCain said he’s got a tough message for Russian delegates who are coming to Washington to pass along to President Vladimir Putin — and it’s not about Syria. Rather: Tell Mr. Putin to give back New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft’s Super Bowl ring, he said, CNN reported. “I was thinking this morning the worst thing you could do in the Old West was to steal another man’s horse. I would think in New England the worst thing you can do is steal another man’s Super Bowl ring,” he said on CNN’s “New Day” broadcast Tuesday.

Toby Keith and I stood at the bedside of Pfc. Todd Bolding of Central Texas. We were far from home, having just landed via Blackhawk battle copter on the tarmac of Bondsteel U.S. Military Hospital in Germany. Visiting with wounded heroes of the world's greatest warriors from the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, National Guard and Marine Corps, we were deeply humbled — not only by the courage of these amazing men and women, but also by their commitment to get their shattered bodies repaired as soon as possible to "grab my rifle and get back to the front lines...

What the War Supporters Threw Saturday, March 31, 2007 In his March 27 letter, Kristinn Taylor, spokesman for the Gathering of Eagles, asserted that there is no evidence that a counter-protester threw manure at antiwar protesters during the March 17 march on the Pentagon. I step forward to assure Mr. Taylor that it is true: I was hit by the pro-war manure. Thankfully, because of its high fiber content, it fell off and left no residue.

Al Qaeda wants to build a political operation in Iraq to broaden its campaign against the U.S.-backed government, a top U.S. general said on Wednesday. Citing intelligence mostly gathered since the death of al Qaeda's former leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in June, Major General William Caldwell said the militant group appeared to be refining its approach beyond bombings and beheadings. "Al Qaeda in Iraq wants to present itself as a legitimate organization and is striving to increase its operational power by building a political base with a military wing," Caldwell told a news briefing. He did not give specific examples....

George Bush and Tony Blair will whoop for joy. A strongly pro-war film has been premiered at the Cannes film festival - and it comes from Iraq. The main part of Hiner Saleem's Kilomètre Zéro, premiered in competition for the Palme D'Or, is set in 1988 against the backdrop of the deaths of thousands of Iraqi Kurds at the hands of Saddam's cousin, "Chemical" Ali Hassan al-Majid. It is framed by scenes of the main characters, now exiled in France, rejoicing at the fall of Baghdad in 2003. "I am against war of any kind," Saleem said. "But we didn't...

It was a warm-up for the "Iraq Awareness Assembly" so no students except the actual actors saw the skit before the military guests complained to principal Susan Derse and she put a stop to it.
As a U.S.-led military effort against Iraq appears imminent, student groups for and against war are using the Internet to mobilize rallies, spread viewpoints and link up with like-minded organizations.

Students For War (www.studentsforwar.com and www.studentsforwar.org) describes itself as an ad-hoc committee to "build support across America for military action against the murderous regime of Iraq's Saddam Hussein." The group's home page has an online petition that the group plans to send to the White House. The site also features a message board forum, including a slew of posts in reaction to Bush's March 17 speech setting a 48-hour deadline for Hussein to leave Iraq. The site links to dozens of conservative think tanks and public policy groups, many with no apparent stands on an Iraq war, including the National Right to Life Committee and the National Rifle Association.

  • 'Hostile takeover' of pro-war clubs

'Hostile takeover' of pro-war clubs a 'joke' By Johanna Schwartz Brandeis' United We Stand (BBUWS), saying it was threatened with a hostile takeover, said it stands united against club filibustering, proposing amendments to its constitution and privatizing its mailing list. These measures were taken preemptively after club members became aware of an e-mail which "outlined in depth how to use our constitution against us to take over our club," BUWS President Mira Meyerovich '03 said in a forum discussion she created on my.brandeis.edu. The e-mail in question, sent by Daniel Mauer '06 to the Antiwar Planning list server, explained that,...

DETROIT — While most Arab-American advocacy groups, joined by many liberals and a smattering of conservatives, vehemently protest military action in Iraq, several groups of Iraqi-Americans are waging a war of their own — a war of words against those very protesters. Their fellow Middle Easterners and their antiwar allies are misguided, says Muhannad Eshaiker, an Irvine, Calif., architect and a member of the Iraqi Forum for Democracy, one of a number of groups favoring liberation of Iraq.

It was a warm clear morning as I pulled up in front of the Veterans Hall in downtown Pleasanton. I had arrived a few minutes late for the 6:00 AM rally so there already were about 25 people in front of the hall with various versions of "Support the Troops" signs and flags. As I walked up I was handed a flyer by a 20ish man with a mohawk haircut. I didn't realize till a little later that he was from the "other"side and the flyer was about stopping the war. As I approached the crowd, I yelled ... "Free...

Got back from Rally for America in Valley Forge. Planning stunk. It took an hour to get the last mile to park. Then there was 2,000-3,000 people waiting for the shuttle buses. Got on one and drove to the rally site. Bus was not permitted to unload. So we drove back to parking site. 1210 didn't even cover the event on the radio. The site had too much traffic for the roads and I assume we were turned away because of too many people. Post your comments here.
  • Hollywood celebrities' protests creating more *support* for war with Iraq

On MSNBC "Countdown: Iraq," highly respected pollster Dr. Frank Luntz just reported that the more the Hollywood crowd pushes the anti-war war position, the more the public *supports* the war. This corresponds with a report on Drudge that the support for the war is growing as well as frustration with the UN. This also seems to correspond with the decline in favorable numbers towards Bush (public eagerness to get the ball rolling). However, I'm betting the downward trend for support for Bush will change once the war begins. Whenever that happens. So maybe all that Hollywood anti-war noise is a...

I'm wondering if there are any plans in the making for a counterprotest on March 15 in DC. ANSWER is planning an "emergency anti-war protest" at the White House.
