A manhunt for a suspected road-rage killer who California police say gunned down an Oakland mother of four on a weekend grocery run ended Wednesday night 100 miles away when a SWAT team descended on a home near Sacramento and arrested a suspect, police said. The suspect, identified by investigators as Carl Stephen Dubose, was nabbed in Elk Grove at about 5 p.m. Wednesday after agents surrounded a home there. Local reports said he had barricaded himself in the home before surrendering, while other accounts said he turned himself in without incident.

Thursday’s “National Day Of Rage” planned by the hacktivist group Anonymous against the Aug. 9 police shooting death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo. failed to materialize in any remotely significant way. Anonymous had called for a protest in 37 cities. The medical director of Ben Taub Hospital's Emergency Center has been charged with criminal trespass and harassment, accused of threatening a woman she labeled a "homewrecker." Keith Campbell, the scientist who helped pioneer the birth of Dolly the sheep, the world's first mammal cloned from fully developed adult cells, has died, according to The University of Nottingham. Campbell, 58, died on October 5, according to a university statement released Thursday. His funeral has been scheduled for October 24. The university did not say how he died.
