There is clear evidence that high sugar consumption leads to obesity and fatty liver disease. Synthetic and natural alternatives to sugar are available, but little is known about the effects of these non-caloric sweeteners on the liver. A new study led by Rohit Kohli, MBBS, MS, shows that stevia extract can reduce markers of fatty liver disease. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that obesity affects nearly 19% of children. An associated condition called non-alcoholic fatty liver disease affects one out of every 10 children. Fatty liver disease can lead to cirrhosis and liver cancer. Consumption of too...

After arriving a reported three hours late to a concert in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, Madonna was late yet again for a show in Nashville last night. Thousands of Tennessee fans pack the stadium for the 8:00PM showtime including famed country singer Reba Mcentire. Bush's -- a close friend of Republican McEntire -- decision to go to war in Iraq. Although they later apologised, singer Martie Maguire recently took back the apology and claimed the furore had helped them connect with their audience, adding an attack on McEntire: "I'd rather have a small following of really cool people who get it, who will grow with us as we grow and are fans...

NASHVILLLE, Tenn., May 22 (UPI) -- It appears the war U.S. country radio stations mounted against the politically outspoken Dixie Chicks has not abated in the least. The band is promoting "Taking the Long Way," its first album since Natalie Maines told a London audience in 2003 she was ashamed to be from the same state as U.S. President George Bush. The comment sparked a radio boycott of the group's music. Although the album hits stores Tuesday, the first two singles from the album are not getting widespread airplay, Billboard.com reported Monday. The first single, "Not Ready to Make Nice,"...
