On Tuesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “New Day,” Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) responded to a question on how Democrats are addressing concerns about the economy and inflation by stating he wishes reporting would mention that the reconciliation bill is paid for. During a discussion on the spending bills, co-host John Berman asked, “How are Democrats addressing what are growing concerns among the American people, A. about the economy, but B. about inflation and prices, just getting out of this pandemic?”

Chaos erupted Wednesday at the summit between President Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin as reporters from both countries pushed each other, yelled and talked over the world leaders’ remarks. Some reporters blocked the TV cameras while others yelled at each other while the two presidents made their opening statements, rendering the leaders’ words inaudible. Politico’s Anita Kumar, a pool reporter covering the Geneva summit, called the media scuffle “the most chaotic” event she’s seen in nine years of covering presidential events.

White House reporters are ​seething over a policy that requires them to submit quotes from interviews with Biden administration officials to the communications team for approval, editing or veto, according to a report on Tuesday. ​ The White House is demanding that reporters who conduct interviews with administration officials do so under conditions known as “background with ​quote approval,” Politico reported. ​

Former White House national security adviser John Bolton reportedly claims in his forthcoming memoir that President Trump called for scumbag journalists to be “executed.” Bolton said Trump made the comments during a meeting last summer in New Jersey, according to a copy of Bolton's book obtained by The Washington Post. During the meeting, Trump said journalists should be jailed so they would have to expose their sources, Bolton wrote. “These people should be executed. They are scumbags,” Trump said, according to Bolton's account chronicled in the memoir, “The Room Where It Happened.”
