In the midst of rightfully calling out President Trump for some of his overheated rhetoric reacting to the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry, on Tuesday, MSNBC immediately undermined its criticism by engaging its own extreme rhetoric and suggesting that “heavily armed” Trump supporters would march on Washington “to protect their president.” “President Trump ratcheting up his rhetoric as he tries to derail the push for impeachment proceedings. On Twitter, he’s quoted a top supporter who said impeachment could create a, quote, ‘Civil War-like fracture,’” anchor Craig Melvin warned in the 11:00 a.m. ET hour. Turning to Washington Post political reporter Eugene Scott,...

    AP WIRE SERVICE ^ | Aug. 9, 2019 | AP
WASHINGTON — Moving ahead despite objections, the Trump administration on Friday set a timetable for federally funded family clinics to comply with a new rule that bars them from referring women for abortions. The move is part of a series of efforts to remake government policy on reproductive health to please conservatives who are a key part of President Donald Trump’s political base. Religious conservatives see the family planning program as providing an indirect subsidy to Planned Parenthood, a major abortion provider.

Sometimes it seems from reading posts on here that the average Freeper thinks that guns are pretty much banned in the UK. They aren't, though. Handguns are banned (unfortunately), but otherwise we have a reasonable choice of legal weaponry, including Accuracy International sniper rifles if you have £23K to spare. Semi-automatic rifles are limited to .22 rimfire, but bolt-action rifles are not. Here's a link to my nearest gun dealer, so you can see what's available this side of the pond: https://www.thecountryman.com/ Comments welcome - not trying to start any fights, just interested in opinions. The Left-wing extremists who have taken over the Democrat Party will soon experience what they fear most: U.S. Supreme Court-imposed limitations on abortions. You read that right. I’ll explain. No doubt many readers still remember the nightmare circus created by Democrats during Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings. The wild, unsubstantiated accusations leveled against him by Sens. Dianne Feinstein, Kamala Harris, Dick Durbin, Cory Booker, and others that he was some serial rapist from high school who drugged women and helped his friends gang-rape them during parties shocked the consciences of most Americans who watched them. So pathetic and outrageous was the...

Time and time again, we’ve seen mass shooters find loopholes in the law or ignore it entirely. You can vote at 18. You can become a parent, work full-time, get married, or even fight overseas in the military. But if gun-control advocates get their way, you won’t be able to buy a gun until you’re 21.In response to the February 14 school shooting at Parkland High School, the Florida state legislature just passed a bill that will increase the age requirement to buy guns –– an idea that’s gaining support across the country. During a bipartisan meeting on school safety,...

    1) Obama thinks Google, Facebook, etc., are "a public good as well as a commercial enterprise," and should consider whether they are corroding our democracy. Obama described social media platforms as a "hugely powerful potential force for good," but then immediately hedged. "... I do think the large platforms—Google and Facebook being the most obvious, Twitter and others as well, are part of that ecosystem—have to have a conversation about their business model that recognizes they are a public good as well as a commercial enterprise...." Effective immediately, U.S. service members on Okinawa are restricted to base and to their residences. Until further notice, alcohol consumption is prohibited. This includes in residences and public locations such as bars and clubs, and hotels. Additionally, U.S. service members on mainland Japan are prohibited from purchasing or consuming alcohol, on or off base. The new restrictions follow an accident Sunday morning in Naha in which a Okinawan man was killed when his vehicle was struck by a truck being driven by a U.S. service member. Alcohol may have been a factor. Commanders across Japan will immediately lead mandatory training...

It could be a busy legislative session for transportation issues in Florida. Already, several bills have been filed addressing controversial topics ahead of the session’s March 7 opening. Here’s a quick look at a few you’ll hear about in the coming weeks. Express lanes A bill proposed in the Florida Senate would prevent the creation of more express lanes on the state’s highways while also setting rules for how express lane toll money must be spent. The measure, SB 250, was filed by state Sen. Frank Artiles, R-Miami. If the bill is made law during the upcoming session, it would...

How may one block an outgoing number on a cell phone? I have an old ZTE Z222 flip phone from AT&T that I am giving to a granddaughter to use. She has lost her smart phone because she runs up a huge bill. I figure with a simply old fashioned flip phone, the only thing she can do with unlimited calling and texting the only thing she could do to run the bill up is 411 calls at $5 a pop. I want to block 411 calls. I doubt she will make international calls.

I guarantee you Hillary Clinton will continue Obama's legacy All rights come from God. We are born with them. They are unalienable, which means no power on Earth can take them away. They stay with us for life. All rights are individual, and they are absolute within the context of the right. If rights are not absolute, then they aren’t a right at all. If one aspect of a right can be shed, then so can the whole right. If a right can be “interpreted,” then it can be interpreted out of existence. One right that is universal and a...

A federal judge on Thursday struck down rules set for protesters at next month’s Republican National Convention in Cleveland. Ohio’s branch of the American Civil Liberties Union brought the suit last week against the city of Cleveland, arguing that restrictions on protesters within the “event zone” around Quicken Loans Arena are unconstitutional. Those restrictions would ban certain items, including large backpacks, tape and string, and limit where within the 3.5 square mile zone demonstrators can speak and hold a parade.

The American Civil Liberties Union has sued the city of Cleveland, site of next month's Republican National Convention, accusing the city of illegally restricting areas where protesters and residents can congregate. The suit, filed this week on behalf of the city's homeless, objects to the 8.5-square-kilometer "event zone," a secondary security area outside the stricter security perimeter that will circle the convention site, Quicken Loans Arena. The lawsuit contends that security restrictions and rules regarding public demonstrations in the event zone are "arbitrary, unnecessary and unjustifiable." The plaintiffs also include Citizens for Trump, an activist group backing presumptive Republican nominee...

Israel on Friday announced a series of gestures to relax restrictions on the movement of Palestinian Arabs during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. The measures, similar to those of previous years, were announced by the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), the unit which manages civilian affairs in Judea and Samaria under the auspices of newly-appointed Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman. Up to 500 people from the Gaza Strip will be allowed to attend Friday prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque over the holy month, set to begin on Sunday or Monday, according to AFP. In addition, 200 Gaza...

With the pubic distracted by the FBI battling Apple for an iPhone backdoor, President Obama is secretly working to trash President Ronald Reagan’s restrictions on the number of federal agencies that can spy on Americans and others. At a secret meeting of the United States National Security Council on Feb 25, President Obama approved a draft 21-page memo relaxing a Cold War Reagan-era directive called Executive Order 12333 that restricted the number of government agencies that can access, without court order or Presidential approval, the contents of phone calls, emails and data the U.S. National Security Agency vacuums up from...

The Obama administration on Monday unveiled a series of new executive actions aimed at reducing gun violence and making some political headway on one of the most frustrating policy areas of President Obama’s tenure. The package, which Obama plans to announce Tuesday, includes 10 separate provisions, White House officials said. One key provision would require more gun sellers — especially those who do business on the Internet and at gun shows — to be licensed and would force them to conduct background checks on potential buyers. Obama would devote $500 million more in federal funds to treating mental illness —...

Far-reaching restrictions on when and how minors at risk of abuse or harm can seek abortions in Texas without parental consent are headed to Gov. Greg Abbott’s desk. On a 102-43 vote, the Texas House on Friday signed off on changes made by the Senate to House Bill 3994 by Republican state Rep. Geanie Morrison of Victoria, which tightens the requirements on “judicial bypass,” the legal process that allows minors to get court approval for an abortion if seeking permission from their parents could endanger them. Abbott, a Republican who is a staunch opponent of abortion, is expected to sign...
