Schneider: In Milwaukee shooting, consider the officer Christian Schneider, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Close your eyes and imagine yourself as a 24-year old African-American police officer in the City of Milwaukee. On Saturday afternoon, you make a routine traffic stop that results in a young black man fleeing the scene. According to the events laid out by Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn, you turn on your body camera and give chase, eventually cornering the suspect in a fenced in yard. He turns toward you. And then you see he has a gun. You tell him to put the gun down. He...

Donald Trump’s campaign got another shakeup this morning, part of a reset that includes the first TV advertising in Florida and other battlegrounds. Trump has brought on Breitbart News’ Stephen Bannon as CEO, a man the campaign heralded for his combative style, and elevated Kellyanne Conway to campaign manager. Paul Manafort will remain as chairman. Conway is a former pollster for the Tampa Bay Times. “I have known Steve and Kellyanne both for many years. They are extremely capable, highly qualified people who love to win and know how to win,” Trump said in a statement. “I believe we’re adding...

What happens when a city combines body cameras, a “model” law requiring independent investigations of police shootings, and a police chief so committed to reforming the way cops interact with the black community that he’s profiled on public radio’s immensely popular program This American Life? What happens in that same city when a black cop shoots an armed black suspect toting a stolen gun — a gun the suspect reportedly refused to put on the ground despite repeated commands? Do the legal reforms increase community trust? Or does the city erupt in riots and violence? If you chose “riots and...

Monday morning an independent reporter named Tim Pool announced he would no longer cover events in Milwaukee after witnessing white reporters being harassed and seeing a white man shot in the neck. Pool posted a video explaining his decision on You Tube. “Upon arriving here one of the first things we hear is the crowd getting angry and saying ‘what are these white people doing here?'” Pool said. Pool says he took it as a sign locals were angry but didn’t assume that meant it was unsafe for him to continue to cover events. “Things started to get really tense...

Tuesday on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI) criticized Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton for her remarks a day earlier at a campaign stop in Pennsylvania declaring that the unrest in Milwaukee over the weekend demonstrated a need for law enforcement to “rebuild trust” with the communities it protects.

President Barack Obama emerged from his Martha’s Vineyard vacation for a fundraiser, but he didn’t mention any of the devastating events currently affecting the United States. In Milwaukee, six businesses were set on fire, four officers were injured, shots were fired, and police cars were damaged after a black police officer shot a convicted black criminal who refused to drop a stolen handgun. In Louisiana, flooding has damaged thousands of homes forcing more than 20,000 rescues after some parts of the state have suffered from over 30 inches of rain. The death toll from the floods is currently at seven.

Hey media, they're "riots" not "protests" Dear media outlets, All the violence we’ve been witnessing in Milwaukee for the last few days? Yeah, that’s not a “protest.” You keep calling it that, but the fact is you’re just plain wrong. These are “riots.” Ugly, violent, racist, riots. I know, I know. You get all uncomfortable when you’re forced to report things accurately. You hate to use a label that you think will get you called “racist” by the left. God forbid you’re not invited to the White House correspondent’s dinner.

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: All right. Ann Althouse pointed this out -- at least this is where I found this, where I saw it, Ann Althouse on her website, on her blog. At 10:06 a.m. -- and I guess this was yesterday -- unrest in Milwaukee. New York Times headline: "Unrest in Milwaukee After Police Fatally Shoot Unarmed Man." Now, this is important because the shooter was not unarmed. Not only was he armed, he had a record. There was a photo posted of him somewhere aiming a gun at the camera. He looks unsavory. There's no question. He's got a...

Following a fatal police shooting of an armed black suspect Saturday afternoon, Milwaukee erupted into the requisite rioting and looting that has become the hallmark of lawlessness so common in the inner cities of America. As of this writing, at least six businesses including banks and gas stations have been burned, at least four police officers have been injured, and an unknown number of civilians — mostly white — have been attacked by mobs. The violence and destruction only came under control when Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke called in the national guard. After speaking with Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker...

Smith was shot in the chest and arm by a black police officer on Saturday, which prompted violent protests, looting, and arson. One of Mr. Smith’s sisters, Sherelle, was caught on video at the charred remains of a BP gas station telling a crowd to set the suburbs ablaze.

It was a weekend of violent unrest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A rampaging mob burned businesses and battled with police. The rioting started after a black police officer shot and killed a black suspect. The bad guy had a gun - and when he refused to drop his weapon the officer opened fire.

The Milwaukee riots should be the last time the policies of liberal Democrats are held up as anything other than misery-inducing, divisive, exploitative and racist manipulation of the urban populations. Unfortunately they won’t. As Sheriff of Milwaukee County, I am furious that the progressive left has put my citizens in harm’s way and that I had to send my officers into cauldrons of anarchy and hatred that were created by the left. As an elected public servant I am livid that Milwaukee’s pathetic, kowtowing city officials and aldermen take this opportunity to abandon their citizens and preen before the...

There are those of us in America who have no problem telling it how it is. A man being interviewed by a Milwaukee TV station during the violent protests over the weekend basically said that until rich people pay up to black people, violence and riots will continue. “It’s sad because, you know, this is what happen because they not helping the black community,” the unidentified man said. "The rich people they got all this money and they not, like you know, trying to give us none."

Tension flared again overnight in Milwaukee, with one person shot and a police officer injured in the second night of riots triggered by the fatal shooting of a suspect by an officer. Police violence against African-Americans has ignited sporadic, sometimes violent protests in the past two years. It also has prompted a national debate over race and policing while fuelling the growth of the Black Lives Matter civil rights movement. Violence erupted in Milwaukee on Sunday after peaceful vigils by small groups of demonstrators, and police said late that night that they had rescued one shooting victim, who was taken...
