I want to express my congratulations to Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WVa.), who recently became the longest-serving senator in American history. When asked what was the most important vote that he ever made, Byrd replied that it was his vote against the Iraq war. Byrd went on to explain that he has cast more than 17,000 votes during his distinguished career but he stated his most important vote was, without question, against a ''pre-emptive'' war against a country that never invaded the United States. I recall during the fall of 2002, Byrd admonished his fellow members of Congress, who were ''deadly...

Michael Schiavo is co-writing a book with author Michael Hirsh to tell his side of the end-of-life case that divided much of the country. Schiavo's wife Terri suffered a brain injury in 1990 that left her in what some doctors called a "persistent vegetative state." She died March 31 after a bitter court battle between her husband and her parents. Hirsh expects the 280-page book, "Terri: the Truth," to be available just before the first anniversary of Terri's death. Dutton Publishing publicity manager Jean Anne Rose confirmed that the company is publishing the book in March. Michael Schiavo's decision to...

Although I don’t like wasting my time or breath on discussing the rantings of a scumball like Ward Churchill, I think this article from Col. Bratton in the Hawaii Reporter sums up my views pretty well. It is quite ironic that the people at the University of Hawaii gave a standing ovation to a man who, by his own arguments, implied that those killed at Pearl Harbor in 1941 deserved to die. "If Churchill's argument that 9/11 victims got what they deserved, then it goes without saying that the military and civilians killed in the Pearl Harbor massacre deserved to...

Former congressman scrutinized in his libel suit against author Dunne. Then-congressman Gary Condit's reputation was on the line in late 2001 when his re-election campaign commissioned a survey. Now his reputation is again on the line, though he no longer holds office. As he pursues a defamation lawsuit against author Dominick Dunne, the $11 million question is when did Condit's stature sour. Condit claims Dunne's comments cost him dearly, up to and including the March 2002 Democratic primary election when Condit lost his job. Dunne's attorneys retort that Condit's actions undermined his public standing. This dispute over who's responsible for...
  • Rendell: Bin Laden Wants Bush Re-Elected (BARF Alert)

    10/31/2004 8:33:58 PM PST · by d0le · 17 replies · 448+ views
PHILADELPHIA -- A new videotape message from terror mastermind Osama bin Laden was meant to help President Bush win re-election, Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell said Sunday. "It's obvious to me that bin Laden is trying to help George Bush, because George Bush is the best recruiter that al-Qaida has," Rendell told "Fox News Sunday." "George Bush is so disliked in the Arab world that we're creating terrorists every single day -- more terrorists than we can even come close to killing," the Democrat said. "You've got to be kidding, Ed," replied Republican Gov. Mike Huckabee, who chairs the Bush-Cheney campaign...
