SEATTLE -- Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad personnel said an explosive device was found during an investigation into a fatality on the tracks Thursday morning. BNSF said that at 9 a.m., a Chicago to Tacoma freight train struck and killed a woman on the tracks at Carkeek Park in Seattle. The railroad said the train crew spotted the woman, who appeared to be trying to get off the tracks, and applied the emergency brakes. The woman then knelt down and was hit by the train.
