This is not good. A newspaper in Australia is catching A LOT of heat over a cartoon that was trying to spoof Serena Williams' incident at the U.S. Open -- because it's racist as hell. The cartoon -- drawn by Mark Knight (editorial cartoonist for the Herald Sun newspaper) -- shows the tennis superstar stomping on her racket. But, let's get serious, it looks like a Jim Crow-era, Sambo-style caricature of a black person -- not Serena Williams.

A couple of years ago, QB Colin Kaepernick got benched because he couldn't play anymore. As I recall, he was regularly passing the ball to the other team in what we call "interceptions." Colin got benched and turned into a political philosopher. He could have worked on his deteriorating skills and tried to get his old job back. Not Colin. He found his "inner Che," and we know the rest of the story. The NFL is now all about Colin, and the fans are not tuning in. Now Nike is referring to his act as some kind of "sacrifice." Sorry,...

FULL TITLE: Patrick Mouratoglou admits he WAS 'coaching' Serena during the controversial US Open final but says he doesn't believe Williams saw him Patrick Mouratoglou has admitted to coaching Serena Williams during the US Open final but believes she didn't see him - which is why she became so enraged at the umpire. Williams has made headlines for coming to blows with umpire Carlos Ramos after he gave her a coaching violation in the second set. The tennis legend, who was then docked a point after she smashed her racket, told Ramos she would rather lose than cheat. 'I'm honest,...

The money comes out of Williams' $1.85 million in winnings as the runner-up to Osaka, whose 6-2, 6-4 victory on Saturday made her the first tennis player from Japan to win a Grand Slam singles title In the second set's second game, Ramos warned Williams for getting coaching, which is against the rules in Grand Slam matches. She briefly disputed that ruling, saying cheating "is the one thing I've never done, ever" — although afterward, her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, acknowledged he was trying to send Williams a signal. A few games later, Williams received another warning, this time for smashing...
  • It’s shameful what US Open did to Naomi Osaka (Tennis)

Naomi Osaka, 20 years old, just became the first player from Japan to win a Grand Slam. Yet rather than cheer Osaka, the crowd, the commentators and US Open officials all expressed shock and grief that Serena Williams lost. Osaka spent what should have been her victory lap in tears. It had been her childhood dream to make it to the US Open and possibly play against Williams, her idol, in the final. It’s hard to recall a more unsportsmanlike event. Here was a young girl who pulled off one of the greatest upsets ever, who fought for every point...

Serena Williams came to blows with the umpire in the U.S. Open's Women's final as she accused him of 'stealing a point from her'. Umpire Carlos Ramos issued a game penalty to the U.S star during her game against Japan's Naomi Osaka because the umpire accused her of getting coaching from the side lines. The 23-time Grand Slam winner screamed at Ramos: 'Every time I play here, I have problems. I did not have coaching, I don't cheat. You need to make an announcement. I have a daughter and I stand for what's right. You owe me an apology.' 'For...

Serena Williams is already among the best athletes of all time, so if she says she spots a winner, it's hard to ignore her. In an interview with Time magazine, Williams singled out former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick as someone who could get a Super Bowl ring -- if he were given an opportunity. Kaepernick is in the midst of a collusion grievance against NFL owners, in which he says that there has been a concerted effort to keep him out of an NFL uniform due to his protest against racial equality by kneeling during the national anthem. The form...

Serena Williams was the No. 1 tennis player in the world in January of last year. She had just beaten big sister Venus to win the Australian Open for a seventh time. Oh, and she did it while being 8 weeks pregnant. It was an incredible feat. Yet, Serena's pregnancy, which obviously kept her off the professional tennis circuit for months, is now the reason she has fallen to No. 453 in the world. She is making her comeback grand slam debut at this month's French Open in Paris. But, because her maternity leave prevented her from competing for awhile,...

n a new interview, Serena Williams spoke about how her pregnancy complications made her more cognizant of the problems black women encounter within the U.S. health care system. Speaking to BBC, the tennis superstar said it "may be time for women to be comfortable with having uncomfortable conversations," as "doctors aren't listening to us." Pointing out that she was "in a really fortunate situation," since she had a "wonderful, wonderful doctor" and knows her body so well, Williams lamented the fact that most black people aren't in the same position. As previously detailed, Williams, who has a history of blood...

Serena Williams says on social media that she gave birth to a baby girl named Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. She says the baby was born on Sept. 1 and weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces. One posting also says about the newborn, "Grand Slam Titles: 1." The 35-year-old Williams won her 23rd Grand Slam singles title at the Australian Open in January — while she was pregnant.

Is Serena Williams only as good as the male tennis player ranked 700th in the world? According to tennis veteran John McEnroe, quite possibly yes. That’s what he said in an interview that aired on Sunday — and his assessment sparked some debate online and a stern rebuke from Williams on Twitter where she said his statements are “not factually based” and that she has “never played anyone ranked ‘there.’” So, what exactly did McEnroe say to get this kind of response from the top player in women’s tennis? In an interview that aired on Sunday, NPR’s Lulu Garcia-Navarro asked...

Tennis superstar Serena Williams revealed she’s pregnant in a Snapchat post sent Wednesday morning. In it, the all-time Grand Slam champion poses for a selfie in a revealing yellow bikini with the suggestive caption: “20 weeks.” If the logical assumption of a pregnancy holds true (and we’ll only be convinced when she actually, definitively declares that she is), it means Serena won the 2017 Australian Open while pregnant.(snip) Williams, 35, announced her engagement to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian in December (about 16 weeks ago if you’re trying to do the math).

I am like legit going through some issues, political and personal, and I can’t tell you how much I have been enjoying the Australian Open. What is it about slices and lobs and serving down the “T” that makes everything better? As we discussed yesterday, Serena Williams and Venus Williams are going head-to-head in the Australian Open final tomorrow/today (tomorrow morning for us Americans). And now this: Rafael Nadal made it to the finals. Which means that we’re getting an old-school Roger Federer vs. Rafa Nadal final, like the good old days!! American tennis player Serena Williams took to Facebook on Tuesday to say she "won't be silent" about race relations and tension with police. Williams, 35, said she had the moment of reflection while riding with her 18-year-old nephew. She wrote that she saw a cop on the side of the road and checked to make sure her nephew was driving at the speed limit, prompting her to think about the case of Philando Castile, who was shot after being pulled over in Minnesota.

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) -- Angelique Kerber upset Serena Williams 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to win the Australian Open title on Saturday, ending the six-time champion's unbeaten streak in finals here and winning a major title for the first time. Williams was an overwhelming favorite at Melbourne Park, where she had won all six previous times she'd reached the final, and was trying to equal Steffi Graf's Open-era record of 22 Grand Slam singles titles. For the second time in as many majors, though, she fell short. Williams won the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon titles last year before losing to...
  • Serena Williams Loses Tennis Match, American Media Weeps

Just grazing through the nets today, you would think a tennis player losing a match was enough to send the American media into an inconsolable frenzy. I think they are more worked up over Serena losing then they were about the MULTIPLE COPS murdered in the past month. Likewise, the James Blake story is getting TONS of coverage! Yet the pandemic murders of police? Under the rug.
