The Banality of Stupid Dear Future,Greetings from 2017, when we’re having Peak Trans. In 5-8 years this will be over. A generation of children currently being treated with hormones and surgery for being “born in the wrong body” will be suing their doctors and parents. People will no longer say that a penis is female if the penis-haver “identifies as a woman”. The current trend of allowing male athletes to compete “as women” as long as they’re taking estrogen will be history (to refresh: male-to-trans runners, weightlifters, volleyball players, etc. are currently thrashing female opponents because women’s sports organizations are...

Saying that Girl Scouts is “no longer a compatible partner in helping us form young women with the virtues and values of the Gospel,” the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas is severing ties with the organization and switching its support to a Christian-based scouting program. “I have asked the pastors of the Archdiocese to begin the process of transitioning away from the hosting of parish Girl Scout troops and toward the chartering of American Heritage Girls troops,” Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann said in a statement released Monday.

Some say the growing rush to label children ‘transgender’ promotes physician-approved child abuse. But speaking out against the practice provokes ire. Who will defend the vulnerable? When Cari Stella recounts her transgender experience in a series of YouTube videos, she doesn’t shed tears, but she does talk about pain. As a teenage girl, Stella felt a strong desire to live as a man. A therapist...prescribed testosterone. Stella was 17. A few years later, she underwent a double mastectomy. Stella says her family was supportive, and her workplace included transgender leadership. Her transition seemed like a success. Except it wasn’t. Soon,...
  • ‘Meet the Press’ Debates If Hillary Lost Because of the Country’s ‘Misogyny’

In a ridiculous discussion that sounded as though it belonged in a forum of a left-wing website, the panel on Sunday’s Meet the Press bemoaned how the country’s attitude towards women cost Hillary Clinton the White House. Moderator Chuck Todd read from the recent NYT column of Nicholas Kristof, who described Clinton’s idea of Trump voters as “I don’t agree with him, I’m not sure I really approve of him, but he looks like somebody who’s been president before.” Paraphrasing Clinton, Todd suggested that “she believed misogyny played a much larger role in this than it’s been analyzed by many...

....heterosexuality has not always “just been there.” And there’s no reason to imagine it will always be.... .....rebuttal to the claim that heterosexuality was invented usually involves an appeal to reproduction: it seems obvious that different-genital intercourse has existed for as long as humans have been around – indeed, we wouldn’t have survived this long without it. But this rebuttal assumes that heterosexuality is the same thing as reproductive intercourse. It isn’t. “Sex has no history,” writes queer theorist David Halperin at the University of Michigan, because it’s “grounded in the functioning of the body.” Sexuality, on the other hand,...

....plans to alter Obama-era guidance that linked access to school bathrooms to a student’s gender identity has drawn vocal criticism – both on a local and national level. ....Miami-Dade Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho said students in the district do not need to be worried. On social media, the superintendent pointed out that the district had gender identification protections in place before the Obama administration’s directive and they would remain in place under the Trump administration’s retraction of it.

When I was in my early 30s, I practiced yoga at a studio in my neighborhood in Brooklyn. On most days, I walked there with two good friends — one who was in her 20s and one about my age — but occasionally we each got to class on our own. There was construction site across the street as part of the growing onslaught of gentrification in the neighborhood. My friends would often complain about being harassed and catcalled by the construction workers — even more so when they wore their yoga clothes. I passed the site day after day...
  • Transgender North Carolinians get restroom-access win [Federal Judge Perversion of Law]

A federal judge ruled Friday that two students and an employee must be allowed to use restrooms matching their gender identity at University of North Carolina campuses, and he said they have a strong chance of proving the state's bathroom-access measure violates federal law, a judicial rebuke that transgender rights advocates hailed as a victory. U.S. District Judge Thomas Schroeder temporarily blocked the University of North Carolina from making the three plaintiffs follow the restroom provision of the so-called HB2 law as the larger case makes its way to trial in November. His final decision on the law won't come...

Why would anyone except a professional organist take the magazine The American Organist? A friend gave me a recent issue of this highly specialized publication. The stunning picture on the front cover got my attention. The foreground features a glorious pipe organ with five key boards, endless foot pedals and a hundred stops. In the background is the grandiose nave and the vaulted ceiling of the historic Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago. To me, the church organ is a symbol of high Western Christian culture, made famous by the soaring oratorios of Johann Sebastian Bach and the stirring grandeur of...

Commentators in major national newspapers in Scotland are aghast. A 100-member youth choir from a Southern Baptist church in Plano, Texas gave a free concert at a shopping center in Edinburgh. The journalists compared this event to Nazi or ISIS propaganda. One asserted: “as a nation we should be stating clearly: bigots are not welcome here.” Scotland is the land of John Knox, the great Scotts reformer (1513–72), and of the young, deeply spiritual Robert Murray McCheyne (1813–43) who declared: “The Christian is a person who makes it easy for others to believe in God.” Now Scotland is a land...

I meant to post this a couple days ago but have been busy. I noticed on twitter that Amex is now using the symbol stolen from the Scripture by the homosexual community--the rainbow--to symbolize the company's avatar. the company American Express says it is commemorating homosexual behaviour throughout the month. in return, for the month I will be using one of my Visa cards--even though I use Amex regularly because of a decent return I've enjoyed via its "points" program. I urge any FREEPers who use credit responsibly to do the same.
  • Angry Yale students petition to 'decolonize' the school's English department

Yale University has found itself embroiled in controversy once again this year after English students complained that courses in the department were 'hostile' to students of color. Under the most fire is the Major English Poets course, a prerequisite for undergraduates in the major to study the works of at least seven major poets, all of whom are white men. An anonymous petition has demanded the department not only change the English 125/126 course, which has existed since 1920, but abolish it entirely. It also asks that the major's pre-1800/1900 requirements be changed to include literature relating to 'gender, race...

What’s it like to grow up in a conservative Christian home, come to terms with your same-sex attraction, and serve as a husband and pastor? Allan Edwards, a Presbyterian pastor based in Western Pennsylvania, shares his compelling story in this video. Allan illustrates again the power of the biblical narrative when it comes to the issue of homosexuality. He is to be commended for his openness on an issue that’s so contentious, as are these other brand-new testimonies from the UK. Allan talks about having struggled with hypocrisy and pornography. He also shares how Christians helped him along the way:...

In his second speech on Sunday morning's terrorist massacre in Orlando, Florida, President Barack Obama said  on Monday that "the shooter was inspired by various extremist information that was disseminated over the Internet," that "we see no clear evidence that he was directed externally," and that "this is certainly an example of the kind of homegrown extremism that all of us have been so concerned about for a very long time." The press, led as usual by the Associated Press, is certainly cooperating with those characterizations. Presumptive Democratic Party presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has clearly made up her mind that...

Recently I came across the photo on the left and did a double take. The girl in that photo, with her hollow eyes and hopeless heart, no longer bears any resemblance to me. She was dead in her sin (Eph. 2:1). (To be clear, I am not saying everyone who looks like the girl on the left is dead in sin, or that everyone who looks like the girl on the right is not. Spiritual reality runs far deeper.) I was always the type to push boundaries. Even as a child, I never really had a moderate pace. I tried everything once but...
