  • Vanity: Question for those with plumbing expertise

I have a question - it's probably 'dumb' to those who know about these things, but I once received a lot of good information on modern lightbulbs, here; so I'll try. We bought a new shower head today. I have long hair, and need a higher-pressure one to wash it. We usually remove the 'flow restrictor' (so, arrest me!) but this one claims to have a 'flow regulator'. What, if anything, is the difference between a regulator and restrictor? Thanks for any help. P.S.: We saw a really nice Christmas movie tonight - 'The Christmas Candle': https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Christmas_Candle

The Department of Energy is moving to reverse a Trump-era rule that rolled back water efficiency standards for showerheads, an administration official confirmed to CNN on Friday. The Trump-era showerhead rule took aim at the 2.5-gallon-per-minute maximum flow rate set by Congress in the 1990s. During the Obama administration, each showerhead in a fixture counted toward that limit collectively -- but the Energy Department under then-President Donald Trump moved to let each showerhead reach the 2.5-gallon-per-minute individually. The new proposal from President Joe Biden's administration would revert to the showerhead standards set by the Obama administration. The proposed action is...

Gene Goforth sells showerheads—big ones, like the Raindance Imperial 600 AIR. Selling for as much as $5,457, it has a 24-inch spray face, 358 no-clog channels and a triple-massage option. "You can just stand under it, and it helps your psyche," says Mr. Goforth, who has one in his home. Now, Mr. Goforth is in a lather over the federal government's tough new line on water-hogging showerheads, part of a new effort to enforce energy- and water-use regulations. "Leave my shower alone," Mr. Goforth recently wrote in a letter to the Department of Energy. Regulators are going after some of...

Seattle officials plan to take action against the makers of a showerhead they say violates the city's maximum water flow rate requirement. The decision follows a lab test by Al Dietemann, head of water conservation for Seattle Public Utilities. He obtained the product online whose ads claimed experiences akin to tropical waterfalls, reports the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "The people of Seattle have a very strong environmental ethic, and I think most people would be appalled at others who are wasting energy or water," Dietemann told the newspaper. Dietemann said he had received complaints from local plumbers and developers about body spa...
