SODDY-DAISY, HAMILTON COUNTY (WRCB) – Police say a Soddy-Daisy man tried to burn down the house because his mom wouldn't take him on a beer run. Edward Cothran is charged with aggravated arson. His mother says her son had been drinking all day Sunday, and asked her to take him to the store for more beer. She wouldn't, and says he knocked over a propane heater, catching the carpet on fire. She eventually took Cothran to the store, but decided to call police when she got home. Cothran told police the heater fell over on its own.
