Can we teach ourselves to talk with each other again? The current toxic politics threatens to engulf us all. The president refused the speaker’s handshake and she stopped clapping him and tore up his speech. As theatre it was amazing. Their jobs are to represent differing ideas in competition. Maybe that makes these actions OK as symbols of how passionate they are. What do Free Republic people think? But contrast what the world saw this week with Abraham Lincoln introducing gifts from Santa into a war situation. https://freedom-demokrasi-and-civilised-humanity.com/2019/12/01/abe-lincolns-civil-war-xmas/ Can we restore civility? Or is our education system now totally poisoned...

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY): “I was proud to attend President Trump’s State of the Union address and hear him discuss the crucial work we’re doing together for the American people.â€House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA): “America is better off because of President Trump’s policies. As we heard this evening, in just a few short years this administration has carried out a pro-growth, forward-thinking agenda that has delivered for the people we have the privilege to serve.â€Senate Majority Whip John Thune (R-SD): “I share the president’s optimism about the opportunities that lie ahead – that America’s brightest days are yet to come....

The Chair just ruled that the signed copy of POTUS’ SOTU address destroyed last night by @SpeakerPelosi was “a document of the House.” Stand by for more. #SOTU20

“I don’t care how you feel about somebody,” Jones continued. “That was probably the most disrespectful thing I have ever seen in my life. Because, when she did that, it just tore us up. We couldn’t believe it.” President Trump shared the tragic death of Jones’ brother with the nation, saying California’s sanctuary state policy, which has had “catastrophic results,” allowed his killer to be released from jail. When Jones was introduced and the cameras turned in his direction, he was in tears, crying over the loss of his brother — Pelosi looked on with limited interest, at best.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi apparently made tiny tears into her copy of President Trump’s State of the Union address — so that her speech-ripping moment could go off without a hitch. As Trump introduced cancer-stricken radio host Rush Limbaugh — who received the Medal of Freedom during the speech — Pelosi could be seen grabbing the pages off the table. Video shows her making what seemed to be a tearing motion and then placing the pages back on the table. Photos of the sheets of paper show them face down on the table with small slits on the side, near...

President Donald Trump was gone, the House lights were dimming, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi looked up to her friends and family in the gallery overhead. She held up the speech she had shredded behind Trump’s back, on live television. She put her hand to her heart, dipped her head and gave a little bow. The moment showcased Pelosi’s sharper, less-restrained approach to the nation’s 45th president at the bitter end of the impeachment saga she led. Now, she’s leading House Democrats out of impeachment’s shadow, through regular legislative business and toward Election Day in November. And though there’s no...

Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee pushed back Wednesday on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., for downplaying President Trump's honoring of conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh at Tuesday's State of the Union address. “First of all, the Presidential Medal of Freedom is an extraordinarily sacred award," Ocasio-Cortez said. "We’re talking about putting someone on the same level as Rosa Parks, for example, in terms of their contributions to American progress. Rush Limbaugh is a virulent racist.” “For her to complain about a person with State IV cancer who for longer than she has been alive has actually saved AM radio...

It really, really bothered Washington Post deputy editor of the "Morning Mix" feature, Timothy Bella, that Rush Limbaugh received the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Tuesday during President Donald Trump's State of the Union address. It irked him so much that in his long article he kept returning over and over to the theme that Limbaugh was somehow not worthy of the award in comparison to others who received it. The very title of Bella's article, "Rush Limbaugh joins the likes of Mother Teresa and Rosa Parks as recipient of highest civilian honor," even suggested that he was not as...

“I’ve been a Democrat for 77 years and what I’ve seen tonight of the Democrat party, I am changing my mind..” one caller said. Another angry Democrat caller ripped Pelosi and the Dems and said her entire family of Dems, who voted for Hillary in 2016, will NEVER vote Dem again. “I’m a Democrat as well, but no longer will I vote Democrat. I think it’s outrageous that they sat there when all these good things are happening to our country and how much we love our country and they look like they hated our country,” the caller said. “And...

VIDEO It wasn't only Nancy Pelosi who suffered an extreme meltdown over President Trump's State of the Union Speech on Tuesday. Many TDS members of the mainstream media also suffered meltdowns as you can see in this video in which they are especially irked by the awarding of the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Rush Limbaugh. Their undertone was one of extreme sadness because these ranters have to know that Trump will win re-election in a big way this year despite their desperate efforts to prevent that outcome.

Undoubtedly, this was the best address in modern history! No President in decades has had the success like this great president. Although the leftie Democrat media panned the speech, ordinary Americans cheered this President’s success. And President Trump won with American voters with his positive and uplifting message. President Trump received an 82% approval rating from Independent voters. Via CBS News: 76% of speech watchers approved of the president’s address. 97% of Republicans approved of the speech. And 56% of viewers said the president’s historic address will unite the country.

"Put a Cape on His Back, an 'S' on His Chest, and Call Him Superman" Americans React to Trump SOTU

See video at link, starting at about 1:24:30. It is then about a 3 minute video until the end. After President Trump left the House floor last night, Nancy Pelosi banged her gavel stating both Houses were "dissolved." Shortly thereafter, she banged the gavel again calling the House to order, and then left the House floor. A man (not sure who, sorry) then took the podium and recognized Steny Hoyer who called for the SOTU speech to be entered into the record, and called to adjourn the session.

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona broke from her Democratic colleagues by giving a standing ovation for “opportunity zones” during President Trump’s State of the Union address Tuesday. While the majority of Democrats sat as Trump commended Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., for his work on opportunity zones, Sinema stood and applauded her colleague. Opportunity zones were created in tandem with the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. They provide tax advantages for certain investments in lower income areas. “Jobs and investments are pouring into nine thousand previously neglected neighborhoods, thanks to opportunity zones. A plan spearheaded by Senator Tim Scott...

Planned Parenthood despises President Donald Trump. The billion-dollar abortion chain slammed the Republican president repeatedly Tuesday on social media as he gave his State of the Union address. In his speech, Trump emphasized that every human life is “a sacred gift from God” and must be protected. He urged Congress to pass a law banning late-term abortions, which take the lives of thousands of unborn babies every year. Planned Parenthood, however, wants abortions to be legal for any reason up to birth, and it is dumping huge amounts of money into the 2020 election to push its agenda. “This administration...

A State of the Union guest of President Trump whose brother was murdered by an illegal immigrant has a message for Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Appearing on "Fox & Friends," Jody Jones -- a Farmersville, Calif., resident -- said that in Pelosi's decision to rip up her copy of the president's address, she effectively ripped the hearts of every guest in attendance out of their chests. "It felt like she ripped our hearts out," he said. "Everybody there. All of the guests. We couldn't believe it." Following the conclusion of the speech, Pelosi said in a statement that the...

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., apparently did not enjoy President Trump's State of the Union address, tearing her printed copy of the speech immediately as the president wrapped up his remarks Tuesday night. When Fox News asked her afterwards why she did it, she responded: "Because it was the courteous thing to do considering the alternatives." She added: "I tore it up. I was trying to find one page with truth on it. I couldn't." On the heels of an impeachment trial, which is expected to end in an acquittal in the Senate on Wednesday, tension was palpable between Pelosi...

Democrats were exasperated over what they called a raucous campaign-style speech from President Trump on Tuesday night as the president made his case for reelection during the annual State of the Union address.... In many ways, Trump's 80-minute speech represented a starting gun for his reelection campaign. It was short on bipartisan policy proposals and included plenty of red meat for his base that he will need to turn out at the polls in order to propel him to a second term in November... "If I wanted to attend a MAGA rally, I would attend a MAGA rally," fumed Sen....

What was going on CBS Tuesday night during the State of the Union? Do we need to file a slew of missing persons’ reports? Or was there a real-life Invasion of the Body Snatchers? Those answers seemed plausible considering CBS’s overwhelmingly positive reaction to President Trump’s speech. In their post-speech reactions, CBS journalists praised the “master showman” President’s “incredible remarks” that, while “restrained,” showcased “a strong record on the economy” and “emotionally compelling stories” about “great Americans.” Even more surprisingly, the praise was juxtaposed with condemnation for Democrats. CBS Evening News anchor Norah O’Donnell led off by noting that Trump...
