  • Poll: Americans Pick President Obama Over Mitt Romney for Dinner Date

The American public may be divided on "Obamacare," but when faced with choosing a candidate to care for them if illness struck, President Obama is their man. By a 13 point margin - 49-36 percent - registered voters polled by ABC News chose the president over Mitt Romney to nurse them back to health. When asked who they thought "would make a more loyal friend," the results were about the same. By a 50-36 percent count, respondents said Obama was more likely to stick with them through trying times. As for suppertime, still more ugly numbers for Romney. Fifty-two percent...

A Bexar County Jail inmate committed suicide in his cell today using a plastic spoon, officials said. Robert Rodriguez, 29, was found unconscious and bleeding by a guard in the administrative segregation unit around noon, Deputy Chief Ronald Bennett of the Bexar County Sheriff's Office said. “It appears there were self-inflicted wounds from a plastic spoon he had made sharp and used to stab himself,” Bennett said. Rodriguez was arrested June 9 on misdemeanor charges of criminal trespass and possession of a controlled substance, and was booked into the jail's detoxification unit the next day. At some point since then,...

A city in ruins: Stunning photo taken from kite that captures devastation from 1906 earthquake in San Francisco This rarely seen image of the city of San Fransisco lying in ruins after the devastating earthquake of 1906 was captured by an ingenious photographer using a camera attached kites. The panoramic shot, which is of outstanding quality considering the basic equipment available, shows the full scale of the disaster which claimed the lives of over 3,000, injured 225,000 and caused $400,000,000 worth of property damage. Commercial photographer George Lawrence, who used home-made large format cameras, was well known at the time...

As the merry-go-round of the GOP primary continues, the present darling of fickle voters is Newt Gingrich, Like a phoenix he’s risen from the ashes to claim, with typical humility, “I’m going to be the nominee,” dismissing all other candidates as a trifling irrelevancy. Unfortunately the belated choice of Gingrich is no choice at all, for there can be little doubt how the questionably conservative and enormously polarizing Gingrich would fare against a personally popular Obama in the General Election. There is, at present only one real choice to make regarding the next president. It’s either Romney or Obama. A...

Even local churches worship money and have very little concern about where it comes from . A crusty old man walks into a local Baptist church and says to the secretary, "I would like to join this damn church." The astonished woman replies, "I beg your pardon, sir. I must have misunderstood you... What did you say?" "Listen up, damn it. I said I want to join this damn church!" "I'm very sorry sir, but that kind of language is not tolerated in this church." Ever since July when a Tea Party planned for the historic Lexington Battle Green was shut down by RINO Republicans who objected to the pro-family, pro-morality message, a battle has flared over whether so-called "moderates" have the right to silence social conservatives. This re-ignited the following month when one of the same RINO activists attempted to stop a South Boston Tea Party from taking place. Recently the homosexual "conservative" group GOProud has raised the stakes by mounting a campaign to try to persuade national Tea Party leaders that the movement should avoid social issues completely. However, as the homosexual news...

What's with the recent trend of tagging articles with palin or sarahpalin that have nothing to do with Sarah Palin? If your article has nothing to do with Palin, please don't tag it as such. It's bad enough that journalists use her name to get hits to their articles or as a cheap source of writing material. We don't need that attitude here too. Just because people want to increase traffic to their posts, doesn't mean they should tag their posted articles with palin or sarahpalin. This just clutters the keyword/tagging system.

Women should not hold elective office or be in positions of authority over men. A woman's role is to serve her husband, raise children and provide a good household for her family. As we recite in our wedding vows, women are to obey men, not try and govern them. True conservatives should not vote for a women for any office, be it a local, state or national position. While the rest of punditry dumps on Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani for his Florida strategy - which, to put it mildly, does not seem to be working - I have to wonder if Giuliani's biggest mistake was not touting himself as the only supporter of abortion rights in the Republican primary. I think he'd be faring better today if he had run as a security hawk and a fiscal hawk, but social moderate. After all, GOP presidential hopefuls John McCain and Mike Huckabee oppose abortion rights. Socialism is best because under socialism. No one has to worry about being poor or starving to death. No one is poor, unemployed, discriminated, everyone is equal reguardless or race or creed. Today such ideas are condemned as evil. Any attempt to protest against slavery and genocide and human rights violations are met with the cries of COMMUNISM!
