Our dearest STARWISE is very nervous, very blue, and has a pit in her stomach. Her cherished Mom, Jennie, age 93, is very ill and STARWISE will be traveling tomorrow to be with her at her bedside with her family members.STARWISE wants you all to know how very grateful she remains for the prayers when her Mom was so sick about a year ago. She truly knows our prayers were an immense impact on Mom's recovery then.Please pray for our STARWISE, too,....for her calm.... and that her family may have peace and harmony in this time of need.

Sure there's all that talk that Sen. Joe Biden brings to Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign some gravitas on the issues of foreign affairs and national security. But the choice of Biden as Obama's running mate also reflects some of the synergy among the Illinois senator's senior strategists. One of Biden's top advisers for his short-lived 2008 presidential campaign was David Wilhelm, an ex-Chicagoan who formerly chaired the Democratic National Committee and was the 1992 campaign manager for Bill Clinton. The Obama campaign has shattered all fund-raising records, raking in $458 million so far, with about half the bounty coming from donors who contribute $200 or less. Aides say that's an illustration of a truly democratic campaign. To critics, though, it can be an invitation for fraud and illegal foreign cash because donors giving individual sums of $200 or less don't have to be publicly reported. Consider the cases of Obama donors "Doodad Pro" of Nunda, N.Y., who gave $17,130, and "Good Will" of Austin, Texas, who gave more than $11,000—both in excess of the $2,300-per-person federal limit.

At the kick-off event for the 2008 American Magazine Conference in San Francisco, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi opened the proceedings by telling the 400 magazine executives in attendance that she's a "addict of magazines." "San Francisco is a magazine city," the California resident added. Pelosi couldn't resist taking a few shots at the current administration, especially when discussing the failed shield law: "The shield law died in Senate because the administration didn't want the bill to go through. ... Democratic surrogates say they've been given the go-ahead from the Obama campaign to mention John McCain's associations with S&L kingpin Charles Keating and other historically tarnished creatures when asked about Obama's connection to ex-Weatherman William Ayers.
