Politicians who deny human-caused climate disruption elevate their own opinions above the expertise of not only climate scientists, but biologists, physicists, chemists and ecologists. It's as arrogant and inexplicable as claiming they know more about how to launch rockets than NASA, more about building skyscrapers than architects and more about computers than geeks. A new report will now force these politicians to conclude they also know more about health and medical science than doctors. Next time they have chest pain we should hand out scalpels and insist they do their own open-heart surgery.

NEW YORK, May 18 (UPI) -- U.S. actress Cynthia Nixon says she is engaged to her longtime girlfriend Christine Marinoni. Nixon is a Tony Award winner probably best known for her portrayal of Miranda in the "Sex and the City" TV show and its big-screen follow-up. E! News said the actress announced her engagement during the weekend's Love, Peace and Marriage Equality rally in New York, which is where she and Marinoni live. The couple, who reportedly got engaged last month, have been together since 2003. E! News did not say when they plan to exchange wedding vows.

Mel Gibson's girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva is pregnant with the actor-director's child, an unidentified source told the U.S. celebrity news Web site TMZ.com. The insider said Grigorieva, a 39-year-old singer signed to Gibson's Icon Records label, is in the second trimester of her pregnancy. Robyn, Gibson's wife of 28 years, filed for divorce April 13. The former couple, who have seven children together, reportedly had been separated for about two years. TMZ.com said Gibson has told his soon-to-be-ex-wife and his older children about his girlfriend's pregnancy.
