MacIntosh's cause of death has not been confirmed, but Scott said: "Thanks to the incredible care and love provided by the wonderful medical staff and especially the nurses who all loved him when he brought a smile to their days."

Mindy Kaling, writer and star of “The Office,” recently claimed that the bingeable sitcom couldn’t be made in today’s politically correct climate — because it’s “so inappropriate now.” “The writers, who I’m still in touch with now, we always talk about how so much of that show we probably couldn’t make now,” Kaling, 43, said during a recent interview on “Good Morning America.” “Tastes have changed, and honestly what offends people has changed so much now. I think that actually is one of the reasons the show is popular, because people feel like there’s something kind of fearlessness about it...

The two Texas brothers accused of slaughtering four family members before killing themselves said they easily got weapons because gun control is “a joke” — and were sent off the rails partly from watching TV’s “The Office.” In a rambling 12-page note initially linked to his Instagram page, Farhan Towhid, 19, said that he and his 21-year-old brother, Tanvir Towhid, were united in manic depression and all-day TV watching sessions. “The first and most important show we watched was ‘The Office’,” Farhan wrote in the note that started, “Hey everyone, I killed myself and my family.” The Steve Carrell comedy...

John Krasinski highlights some good news from around the world, including an interview with Steve Carell to mark the 15th anniversary of THE OFFICE, as well as John’s newest hero Coco. Some Good News with John Krasinski (16 mins)

John Krasinski is pushing back on criticism that his selection of specific military and government characters is somehow his way of playing “red state heroes” -- as some have speculated, according to Esquire -- without dipping his toes in anything political. The former “Office” star, who has played a former Navy SEAL-turned-private military contractor working in Benghazi in Michael Bay’s 2016 film “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi,” opened up to the outlet about his decision to act in projects that celebrate the military and said his connection to these types of roles is genuine and not a ploy...

After delivering a scorching opening monologue at the Golden Globes on Sunday, Ricky Gervais rounded out the ceremony by laying into the room of Hollywood insiders for their complicity in the Harvey Weinstein scandal. Bringing Sandra Bullock on stage to announce the final award, Gervais said, “Our next presenter starred in Netflix’s ‘Bird Box,’ a movie where people survive by acting like they don’t see a thing. Sort of like working for Harvey Weinstein.” After the crowd erupted in boos, Gervais replied, “You did it! I didn’t, you did it!”

Dwight Schrute is a beloved character from one of America’s all-time favorite shows, “The Office.” He was hilarious. Freshman Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is also hilarious in her own way, but certainly not beloved. Check out this tweet from AOC, who berates Republicans and mocks their intelligence… This is a technique of the GOP, to take dry humor + sarcasm literally and “fact check” it. Like the “world ending in 12 years” thing, you’d have to have the social intelligence of a sea sponge to think it’s literal.

When it came time to save a life, the mechanic turned to the lessons of Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute. Cross Scott, a tire shop technician, was test driving a customer’s vehicle on Jan. 11 when he saw a peculiar thing: a sedan pulled over, its hazard lights blinking, according to the Arizona Daily Star. He got out to inspect the vehicle. There was a woman inside who appeared unconscious as the car crept forward, he told the newspaper. He stuck a rock under the wheel and used another to smash a window, and two women who pulled over dialed...

Comedian and actor Ed Helms delivered the commencement address at the University of Virginia on Friday, and took part of his speech to tear Rolling Stone a new one for their fake campus rape story, a story which they later retracted and apologized for. Now I know the UVA community has some experience with being defined by outsiders. It has been said that a rolling stone gathers no moss. I would add that sometimes a rolling stone also gathers no verifiable facts or even the tiniest morsels journalistic integrity. Rolling Stone tried ... And either way, the story has served...

Comedian Ed Helms delivered the commencement address at the University of Virginia yesterday, and took a moment to really tear into Rolling Stone for how much its discredited UVA rape report hurt the community. Helms, whom you’ll recognize as Andy from The Office or Stu from the Hangover movies, mostly kept things light and joke-y, and even gave a shoutout to the UVA a capella group that made an appearance with him one time on The Office. Helms talked about his own experience being “defined by outsiders,” and acknowledge that’s happened to the UVA community as well, before squaring in...

Michael Scott is gently excruciating, politely off-kilter, a man of hidden shallows. He is blazingly, blaringly white. As he put it in the diversity-training episode of The Office that set the tone for so much of what was to follow: “How come Chris Rock can do a routine and everybody finds it hilarious and ground-breaking and then I go and do the exact same routine, same comedic timing, and people file a complaint to Corporate? Is it because I’m white and Chris is black?” As played, often brilliantly, by Steve Carell on NBC’s The Office, which has had a quality...

Guest writer Michelle entertains us with tales of a garage in need of defragging. Since when is our congress authorized to excoriate citizens for having an opinion? In the NBC series "The Office," the boss Michael Scott turned to Wikipedia for tips on fending off an employee's request for a pay raise. Viewers quickly flocked to the online encyclopedia and added their take to its entry on negotiations. Administrators at Wikipedia had to limit editing of the entry, most recently late Tuesday, placing it in "semi-protection" mode. That meant users couldn't make changes anonymously or from accounts fewer than four days old — to discourage those drawn to the site specifically because of the broadcast. The site imposed similar restrictions on the entry twice before, only to...

SADDAM HUSSEIN'S REGIME PROVIDED FINANCIAL support to Abu Sayyaf, the al Qaeda-linked jihadist group founded by Osama bin Laden's brother-in-law in the Philippines in the late 1990s, according to documents captured in postwar Iraq. An eight-page fax dated June 6, 2001, and sent from the Iraqi ambassador in Manila to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Baghdad, provides an update on Abu Sayyaf kidnappings and indicates that the Iraqi regime was providing the group with money to purchase weapons. The Iraqi regime suspended its support--temporarily, it seems--after high-profile kidnappings, including of Americans, focused international attention on the terrorist group. The...

Unemployed radio producer Karl Pilkington has become an unlikely superstar by using the new medium of podcasting for his bizarre statement about eating an animal's private parts. Pilkington plays the village idiot on The Ricky Gervais Show, with Gervais and Stephen Merchant, a hit podcast -- the new media craze of blending iPod with broadcast. The free audio or video shows on the Internet can be downloaded onto iPods and MP3 players. It was during a discussion on the Gervais show about a reality TV show, where contestants were asked to eat an animal's penis, that Pilkington made Internet history....

I've always been fascinated with actors who have to be heroes, whereas I shy away from that," Ricky Gervais, the British comedian who will star in a new HBO series, "Extras," this fall, was saying the other day. "I'm a flawed character. I'm good at that." He uses a Yiddish word for loser. If you want that sort, Mr. Gervais says, then "I'm your man. If you want John Wayne, forget it." Mr. Gervais plays an extra who considers himself a great actor. Oh? And why does he think he brings such verisimilitude to portraying losers? There's a long and...

Golden Globe winner Ricky Gervais has revealed that writing an episode of The Simpsons has seen one of his biggest ambitions realised. Gervais was invited to write and star in an episode of the US cartoon, which will be screened in the US in March. Gervais' character in The Simpsons is based on David Brent from The Office sitcom.He...
