The government approved the "Golden Shield" program at a cost of NIS 150 million, the purpose of which is to alleviate loneliness, "cut chains of contagion", and address the needs of senior citizens. Labor and Social Affairs Minister Itzik Shmuli said: "Every elderly person in the State of Israel should know that he has support during this difficult period, and that there's someone who'll take care of his deprivation..."

A Queens man wanted for allegedly torching a cop car had spray-painted “TOO LATE!” on his wall to taunt the feds — but he didn’t flee fast enough and FBI agents nabbed him anyway, Brooklyn prosecutors said. Sam Resto was busted at his work Thursday afternoon with a passport in his backpack, and admitted to FBI agents he had planned to flee, prosecutors said. When agents entered his Elmhurst apartment that night, they were confronted with the scrawled taunt, alongside a drawing of a smiley face with a tongue sticking out. The provocation backfired. Prosecutors asked a Brooklyn federal court...

The World Health Organisation said it is in ongoing contact with authorities in China over an unidentified outbreak of viral pneumonia in the central city of Wuhan, amid concern it may have been transmitted from animals. Wuhan health authorities on Tuesday said 27 people – most of them stallholders at the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market – had been treated in hospital, with seven said to be in serious condition. Pathology tests were under way to try and identify the virus, officials said. Hong Kong medical authorities were also on alert.

Former Vice President Joe Biden said Thursday that he won’t promise to serve just one presidential term because of his advanced age but pledged that he would not seek a second if he loses “energy and mental acuity.” “Look, I guarantee you this: if anything changed in my health making incapable for me to fully exert all the energy and mental acuity that was needed to be done, I give you my word I would not run again,” Biden, 77, told a CNN town hall. “It’s totally legitimate for y’all to ask about my age or anybody else’s age up...

He tweeted,... "The entire media is Triggered that I (a private citizen) tweeted out a story naming the alleged whistleblower. Are they going to pretend that his name hasn’t been in the public domain for weeks now? Numerous people & news outlets including Real Clear Politics already ID’d him." Alleged ‘Whistleblower’ Eric Ciaramella Worked Closely with Anti-Trump Dossier Hoaxer," Trump Jr. tweeted. Trump Jr. later pushed back on the claim that his tweet was a part of an effort to out the whistleblower in conjunction with the White House. “The outrage on this is BS. And those pretending that I...

The restaurateur who said earlier this week that he would be refusing to serve anyone wearing MAGA hats has apologized for making the statement without the consent of his staff and partners, and for being “reckless” in the way he had presented his thoughts. J. Kenji López-Alt, the chef and owner of Wursthall in San Mateo, Calif., shared his latest message on Medium.com on Friday, and apologized for the way he communicated his initial Twitter remarks, in which he said, “It hasn’t happened yet, but if you come to my restaurant wearing a MAGA cap, you aren’t getting served, same...

Here’s how it works. Senators don’t need unanimous consent to bring up a bill. The lack of unanimous consent or 60 votes doesn’t table a bill. It’s just that opposing senators in the minority can request to be recognized and continuously hold the floor. In recent years, majority parties have never made the minority do that. Sometimes it makes sense to pre-emptively achieve an agreement because the majority just can’t afford to chew up endless days on debate of a single issue. But sometimes there are issues worth fighting for. Either way, this is the end of the line for...

Well, that tiny shard of hope was good while it lasted. In the days following the request for an FBI probe, it’s become increasingly clear that the investigation will be...doomed from the beginning...Trump defaults to gaslighting, insisting the FBI has “free rein” in its probe. But, all signs now point to the FBI investigation as hardly an investigation at all...Now, at the White House’s urging, the probe has become a farce and a sham, destined and doomed from the beginning to prove as pointless as a squirmy, sneering Kavanaugh, in his hearing last week, insisted that it would be. Which...

NFL player protests during the national anthem continued this week, defying pleas by Commissioner Roger Goodell and some team owners to have everyone stand for the song. While fewer teams had mass protests this week than in the early games, some players still kneeled, while others stayed in the locker room for the pre-game national anthem. The prior protests have sparked fan outrage and might have hurt television ratings, with some angry observers and at least one sponsor vowing to boycott the league in a counter-protest. A meeting is set this coming week between NFL management, ownership, and the NFL...

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Sunday any player who disrespects the flag will not play. Jones’ comments, the strongest made on the anthem controversy, came after he was asked about Vice President Mike Pence leaving the game in Indianapolis early after several San Francisco 49ers players took a knee during the national anthem. "I know this, we cannot ... in the NFL in any way give the implication that we tolerate disrespecting the flag," he said following the Cowboys’ 35-31 loss to the Green Bay Packers. "We know that there is a serious debate in this country about those...

The NFL Players Are Attempting An Apology To Americans For Their Offensive Behavior: “Too Late”

The Cowboys have knelt for the last time this season. Wide receiver Dez Bryant revealed Friday he and his teammates will stand with their hands over their hearts during the national anthem for the rest of the season, the Star-Telegram reported. The Cowboys, known as “America’s Team,” made headlines Monday night when they knelt as a team — including owner Jerry Jones — before rising for the anthem at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.

Just one week after many members of the Patriots kneeled during the national anthem, a new report indicates that they will all stand together as a team next time out. A league source told CSNNE’s Gary Tanguay on Tuesday that all Patriots players will stand during the national anthem before next Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers at Gillette Stadium. Many stood and interlocked their arms during the anthem last Sunday before the game against the Texans, while a large portion kneeled. Teams across the league had similar demonstrations last Sunday, which were mostly a response to controversial comments made...

RUSH: What I was done be gonna said (sic) about the NFL is that — we got the audio sound bites coming up — everybody now is saying, “This isn’t about the flag! This isn’t about the police brutality! This isn’t…” Oh, yes, it is! And if they don’t know that’s what it is, then it proves my point. They’re a bunch of tools. I’ve told everybody what this is all about from the get-go, starting with the focus on concussions. This is an effort by the American left to damage — severely damage — the NFL. The NFL is...

The Patriots took different approaches as the National Anthem played on Sunday at Gillette Stadium. Many, including safety and captain Devin McCourty, took a knee. Others stood and linked arms. A league source has told CSN's Gary Tanguay that every Patriots player will stand for the anthem prior to Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers. Patriots captain Devin McCourty explained that Saturday was an emotional day for him and his teammates as they tried to determine how best to react to Trump's comments, which referred to players kneeling during the anthem as "sons of bitches" who should lose their jobs....

The Democratic party needs to find a leader who'll keep it from being taken over by the liberal wing — or it'll risk losing more elections, warns former Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman. In an interview to air Sunday with radio host John Catsimatidis on "The Cats Roundtable," Lieberman stressed the importance of political cooperation between both parties. "Here is my fear about the future of the Democratic Party," said the former Democrat who served as the party's 2000 vice presidential nominee. "In a way, relatively speaking, Hillary Clinton was representative of ... center-left of the Democratic Party, not the pure...

He stood in complete opposition to him during the Republican primaries and even opposed him in the general election, but just hours after Donald Trump won the White House, conservative radio host Glenn Beck extended an olive branch to the president-elect, pledging to “support” him in the days to come.

Have been listening to Mark Levin for the last hour or so. Am happy to report that our old friend Mark appears to no longer be a NeverTrumper. It appears that he now believes Trump is a lot more of a constitutional conservative than McCain or Romney (well, duh). It seems Mark's biggest disagreement with Trump now is on free trade. Laments that no one sides with Reagan's trade policies anymore. (Hmmmmm.... I don't recall Reagan being all that much of a "free trader," thought he was very much for the working man, but that's just me). At any rate,...
