A Top Gear special in India was "offensive" and full of "toilet humour", the High Commission of India (HCI) in London has complained. The 28 December special featured jokes about food and trains and a Jaguar car fitted with a toilet seat on its boot. The HCI has written to the BBC after it was contacted by "too many people" who were "very upset" by the programme. Jeremy Clarkson should be sacked by the BBC over his "appalling" comments about killing striking public sector workers, trade union Unison has said.The union said it was considering reporting the Top Gear presenter to the police over comments on The One Show.Referring to striking workers, Mr Clarkson said: "I'd have them all shot. A Mexican has instructed lawyers to bring a test case against Top Gear after her countrymen were branded 'lazy, feckless and flatulent' on the hit show. Iris de la Torre, a jewellery design student in London, is bringing the claim under a new equality law. Her lawyers claim it could cost the BBC £1million in damages. They have demanded the hit BBC1 motoring show is taken off the air and an investigation made into the comments. The lawyers, Equal Justice, have previously taken action against Channel 4 over comments about Indian actor Shilpa Shetty, made on Celebrity Big Brother.

The BBC's Top Gear has been criticised by the Mexican Ambassador to the UK for a series of 'outrageous, vulgar and inexcusable insults'. His Excellency Eduardo Medina-Mora Icaza has written to the corporation to complain about the comments made in an episode broadcast on January 30, and demanded the show's hosts, Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond, make a public apology.

Armadillo Aerospace's latest launch vehicle, a prototype fully-reusable liquid-fuelled unmanned sounding rocket, is to be named 'Stig' after the mysterious (or not) driver on BBC Top Gear. The LOX-alcohol fuelled 'tube rocket' is expected to make a first flight to 30.5km (100,000ft) soon, with later flights carrying commercial payloads.

Jeremy Clarkson and his Top Gear co-stars have sparked religious outrage after dressing up in burkas on the Boxing Day special. Clarkson and Richard Hammond decided to dress in niqabs, a form of the burka where everything but the eyes are covered, in order to disguise themselves on the road. They also got James May in on the act when they greeted him from hospital after he fell and hit his head on rocks in the Syrian desert.

James May from BBC’s Top Gear has just helped launch a new fundraising web site to support the historic Brooklands motor-racing circuit in Weybridge, Surrey. James was the first person to use the new web site to purchase one of only 2,000 virtual square-yards of the track. The Brooklands Museum Trust who are behind the web site aim to raise £250,000 by selling ‘custody’ of unique square-yard pieces from the world’s first purpose-built motor racing circuit.
