    The Malay Mail ^ | July 4, 2018 | Agence France Presse
SEOUL, July 4 — The chairman of South Korea’s Asiana Airlines today apologised after many of its planes took off without any in-flight meals this week because the carrier was suddenly forced to switch caterers. Since Sunday, many Asiana flights have been delayed waiting for meals and many others, mostly short-haul flights to Japan and China, have had to leave without any. “I am sorry for causing public concern over Asiana’s in-flight meal crisis,” said Park Sam-koo, chairman of Kumho Asiana Group whose main subsidiaries include Asiana Airlines and Kumho Engineering & Construction. The debacle at South Korea’s second largest...

Idaho was great! It is so beautiful there the scenery looks like a painting. The people were great. The only people who were rude were from California, Oregon, Washington and Canada. Idaho residents were uncommonly courteous and friendly. My daughter and I were by ourselves but we felt very safe everywhere we went and slept well for being away from home. We actually felt safer in a strange place than we did at home. Never heard one siren in a whole week. We were mostly passing through small towns that had an openly God oriented atmosphere. Lots of pro life...

HAPPIER ABROAD  Why You Will Have A Better Love and Life Beyond America     What immigrants and foreigners say about America that you never hear in the US media  "The biggest culture shock that people experience in the US is not between their country and the US but between what they thought the US would be and what it actually is." – Ladislav, my Expat Advisor In reality, there are few redeeming qualities to living in America other than making money and consuming.  Besides that, the rest is mostly fake and artificial.  This is well known to many foreigners, immigrants and...

Globalization? A definition of Globalization that I can understand and to which I now can relate: Question: What is the truest definition of Globalization ? Answer : Princess Diana's death. Question: How come? Answer : An English Princess with an Egyptian boyfriend crashes in a French tunnel, riding in a German car with a Dutch engine, driven by a Belgian who was drunk on Scottish whisky, (check the bottle before you change the spelling), followed closely by Italian Paparazzi, on Japanese motorcycles, treated by an American doctor, using Brazilian medicines. This is sent to you by a Canadian, using American...

IT MIGHT not feel like it, but MasterChef veteran John Torode has been putting amateur cooks, and some famous faces, through their paces for 13 years on the popular BBC show. And while you might know him best for his TV partnership with co-host Gregg Wallace, he's also just published his 11th cookbook. The chef, 52, hails from Melbourne, Australia, but has been living in England for 27 years. His first culinary love, however, comes from much further afield – the street food of the Far East, which, Torode says, "the world is slowly falling in love with". His new...

California's attorney general announced Friday that he's imposing a ban on state-funded travel to Oklahoma in response to a new law that allows faith-based adoption agencies to deny placement services to same-sex parents. Eight other states have earlier been brought under California's so-called anti-discrimination travel ban."California will not use state resources to support states that pass discriminatory laws," Attorney General Xavier Becerra said Friday, according to the Los Angeles Times. "California taxpayers are taking a stand against bigotry and in support of those who would be harmed by this prejudiced policy."The ban will take effect on June 22.California prohibits state-funded travel...

Traveling after tax season is a regular experience. While it may be “regular,” it is nonetheless still a special experience. Today’s travel is so easy compared to even 20 years ago. Except for the security issues, you can be halfway around the world, in a completely different culture, faster than you can blink. There is a lot to observe about life while traveling. How small the world has gotten. There are people all over the world walking around aimlessly staring at their cell phones. They are misnamed “smartphones” because they certainly do make people stupid. Watching people walk across streets...

Timeless recap: Bloodshed and betrayal in an explosive two-part season finale (SPOILER ALERT!) by Devan Coggan After an untimely cancellation and an unexpected resurrection in its freshman season, Timeless is taking no chances this time around. The time travel drama is closing out its stellar second season with a gutsy, guns-blazing finale that completely rewrites the rules — and showcases how much this show has grown. Not only has Timeless ironed out some of its kinks and tightened up its mythology, but it’s also finally leaning into its strengths — particularly its strong cast and time-period-of-the-week structure. -- SNIP --...

Citibank and Barclay Credit Cards can be denied based on systems issues. Barclay readily acknowledges they have an issue but it took over 20 minutes on the phone with Citibank for them to get their administration to acknowledge they have an issue. In my specific case I was trying to buy an airline ticket but it kept getting a system error. Calls to the CC company did not fix the problem, however it was nice to find out it was their issue. It seem strange that both Citi and Barclay would have the same issue at the same time. Looks...
  • How to visit the Korean Demilitarized Zone

All eyes are on the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) right now, where South Korea's President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un met in April and vowed to bring peace to the peninsula. Even the US President could be on his way there. A source told CNN in May that Kim Jong Un has agreed to meet President Trump at the DMZ, a no-man's land about 30 miles north of Seoul that was established in the 1953 Korean War Armistice Agreement. Dividing the peninsula like a scar, the 160-mile-long treaty zone isn't just a strategic political meeting place...

Economy class cabins may be about to resemble sardine tins rather than cattle trucks in the near future. That’s because an Italian seat manufacturer has unveiled seating that’s so upright passengers using it will practically be standing up. Should any carriers install it, they will be able to cram in more fliers than ever before, in a formation that’s known in the industry as ‘ultra-high density’.
  • How California Car Culture Killed The Promise Of A 20-Minute Commute

As an innovator and early adopter of freeways, California became the symbolic capital of car culture. But the ease of movement conferred by the massive postwar freeway building boom was short-lived, turning the dream of car travel into a nightmare of congestion and long commutes. The story of how Californians went from getting around to getting stuck behind the wheel is deeply entwined with the history of the urban freeway, an enterprise that advanced earlier and on a larger scale here than anywhere else in the country. Half a century ago, there was reason for optimism about cars. Los Angeles...

Herb Meyer would be commended by the intelligence community for his extraordinary 1983 memo predicting that America was going to win the Cold War — this at a time when virtually no one (other than Ronald Reagan and Bill Casey) thought winning was possible. Today his task remains the same. It should come as a revelation to those glued to the 24-hour news cycle that things aren’t as bad “out there” as we think. The evening news never reports the countless airplanes that land on time and unharmed, or the daily billions who walk through malls and shopping centers without...

CNN’s ubiquitous presence in airports -- where it broadcasts from thousands of screens to a captive audience of millions -- is facing new scrutiny after the cable network's hard left turn. *** “How are airports justifying the idea of bombarding captive viewers with content many of them oppose? Sadly, almost any outlet is fairer now than CNN,” Gainor said. *** CNN pays airports to leave the network on ***. *** The airport version of CNN, which launched back in 1992, airs in roughly 60 of America’s most bustling travel hubs. The following list describes the benefits you will receive if you take a long journey to Eastern Europe, South America, or Southeast Asia.1. You will sleep with thinner women who don’t have attitude American women can be quite beautiful if they maintain their appearance, but there still exists problems with their attitude that comes from two things: (1) A female-worship culture that makes them entitled and arrogant, and (2) A tidal wave of thirsty men giving an avalanche of affections directly to their iPhones. Foreign women simply have better personalities: they are sweeter, kinder, more deferential, more interesting, and...
