Suhail Khan, a major Republican sup porter of the Ground Zero mosque, has been lobbying GOP leaders on the Hill to back off their opposition. He's got their ear, mainly because he portrays himself as a moderate, patriotic Muslim. Yet newly surfaced videos contradict that. Khan, a Bush administration vet who sits on the board of the American Conservative Union, assures skeptics that "Park 51 community center" imam Feisal Rauf is a "moderate." Fears over the mosque are overblown, he insists, fomented by "anti-Muslim bigotry." In a recent letter to fellow Republicans, he warned the party was "alienating millions of...

Today I was at a dinner party and I noticed that the Law and Order SVU was on television. I wasn't really paying attention to what was on TV at the time, but I noticed that they had a tea party scene included in the episode. In this scene, there were protesters outside the construction site of the future Ground Zero mosque, protesting the building of the mosque. The man and woman portraying the special units (I don't watch this show so I don't know their names) commenced to counteract the protest by saying this was only going to be...

Has anyone else thought to check the direction of Mecca from Ground Zero? I used QiblaLocator. Funny how the Cordoba house lies almost on the line, ain't it? If you rerun it from somewhere within the former WTC1 site, the line goes exactly through the victory mosque. Must be a coincidence...

Thousands of chanting, jeering protesters with dueling agendas converged on lower Manhattan yesterday in a bitter and sometimes violent clash over the planned Ground Zero mosque. Rival demonstrations over the Islamic center were kept apart by a phalanx of cops -- though there were flare-ups between the groups even as relatives of 9/11 victims mourned just a few blocks away. "I don't care if they build a mosque, but I don't want to hear their Islamic prayers wafting over the [Ground Zero] grave site . . . I saw the carnage of 9/11," fumed a retired firefighter who waved his...

Should there be a mosque near Ground Zero? In fact, what is pro posed is not a mosque -- nor even an "Islamic cultural center." In Islam, every structure linked to the faith and its rituals has a precise function and character. A mosque is a one-story gallery built around an atrium with a mihrab (a niche pointing to Mecca) and one, or in the case of Shiites two, minarets. Other Islamic structures, such as harams, zawiyyahs, husseinyiahs and takiyahs, also obey strict architectural rules. Yet the building used for spreading the faith is known as Dar al-Tabligh, or House...

*snip* A map compiled by firefighters who sifted through the wreckage of lower Manhattan in the seven months after the attacks shows the gruesome discovery of human remains stretched as far as 1,135 feet from the middle of the trade center -- including remains found just a block from the mosque site. The map was obtained by The Post from sources after the Fire Department did not respond to requests to review it. It shows that remains were found just 348 feet to the south of the mosque site at 45 Park Place, on top of the massive post-office building...

A 9/11 first responder's $350M suit against the developers, calls the Ground Zero mosque a "nuisance," "a terror risk" and "an assault." The strongly worded suit, was brought by a former volunteer firefighter from Westchester with the assistance of Freedom Watch. It charges developer Feisal Abdul Rauf and the Park 51 company's "interests are tied to terrorism," and "believers in radical Islam and its jihad against American interests." The suit, calls the proposed center "a monument to the jihadist’s victory over American ideals, [and] a desecration of the terrible sacrifice made by those innocents attacked."

MYFOXNY.COM - Fox 5 News reported Thursday that one of the financial backers of the Islamic mosque and cultural center project in Lower Manhattan once contributed to a terror group, although the investor says the contribution was made because he thought he was giving money to a harmless charity.

Leaders from 55 major mosques and Islamic organizations held a rally on the steps of City Hall today to speak out against against religious intolerance and defend the building of the Park51 Islamic cultural center in Downtown Manhattan and other mosques in America. Before a large crowd, speakers said that there is a rising tide of intolerance against Muslims in the United States. They also said that across the country politicians are fanning the flames of controversy over the proposed Manhattan mosque on Park Place. The demonstrators said that Islam is not a foreign religion to the United States, and...

Tradition, Family, and Property - The Ground Zero Mosque and the Clash of Symbols | Fighting For Our Culture - the Counter-Revolution The Ground Zero Mosque and the Clash of Symbols Written by Gary Isbell   Sunday, 22 August 2010 08:29 If on December 7, 1944, three years after “a date which will live in infamy,†local government officials in Hawaii had allowed a group of Japanese to erect a Shinto shrine at Pearl Harbor, how would Americans nationwide have reacted? Yet are we not seeing in Lower Manhattan an analogous situation, with government officials approving the building of a...

The Ground Zero Muslim center could qualify for tax-free financing, a spokesman for City Comptroller John Liu said. The Democratic comptroller's spokesman said Liu supports the project. The center has sparked an intense debate over the sanctity of the site where nearly 3,000 perished. "If it's financially feasible and if they can demonstrate an ability to pay off the bonds and comply with the laws concerning tax-exempt financing, we'd certainly consider it," Liu's rep told Reuters.

Bill Kelly’s Truth Squad is all about truth, justice, and all things America. Whether through humor or parody, or in just the facts, we are taking the side of those who have been continually shut out by the mainstream media. The media seek to justify this position of dishonesty by perpetuating a storyline of bigotry and prejudice; that those that oppose their thinking are backwards, illiterate, stupid, hateful, and dangerous. This has been the case from the beginning of the Obama Administration with anyone who has opposed President, including now the 9/11 families and numerous Americans, more than 64%, who...

Supporters and opponents of a proposed Muslim cultural center and mosque near the World Trade Center site staged competing rallies in downtown Manhattan on Sunday, kept apart by police and barricades. The emotionally charged debate, which has gained national political significance, centers on plans to build the center two blocks from the site of the September 11, 2001 attacks by al Qaeda, which killed nearly 3,000 people. Republicans against the project are using it to attack Democratic President Barack Obama ahead of midterm elections, where his party is fighting to retain control of Congress. Opponents of the center, which would...

A growing number of New York construction workers are vowing not to work on the mosque planned near Ground Zero. The New York imam behind the Ground Zero mosque has struck a partnership with the founder of the so-called 9/11 mosque in the Washington suburbs that gave aid and comfort to some of the 9/11 hijackers, WND has learned. Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf counts the lead trustee of the Dar al-Hijrah Islamic Center among partners in his Cordoba Initiative, which features a 13-story mosque and a "cultural center" for his project to bring shariah, or Islamic law, to America. Families of 9/11 victims oppose construction of the proposed site so close to Ground Zero. Jamal Barzinji, one of the founders...

Two protests on Sunday morning, in the normally quiet blocks north of Ground Zero, claimed to be on the side of tolerance. One camp stood in favor of the mosque and Islamic center that has been proposed for the area; the other argued against. Around 500 of those opposed gathered in a cordoned-off area, heavily monitored by police. They sang patriotic songs and spoke of a hijacked Constitution, a renegade presidency and tolerance toward the sensitivities of New Yorkers whose relatives died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. A counterprotest, smaller but equally passionate, gathered steam two blocks away, where...

In the furor over the proposed mosque at Ground Zero, the chief argument against it has been all but overlooked: it will be a huge security risk. Indeed “risk” is the wrong word: it is virtually guaranteed to become a potent engine for future attacks against this country. How can we know this? From experience. Just as the experience of RomneyCare in Massachusetts (a sharp rise in health care costs) foretells that ObamaCare will have the same result because of the close similarities between the two, so the Taiba mosque and Arab-German cultural center in Frankfurt (closed down last week by German...
