A house party in Brooklyn was cut short Sunday morning when as many as nine people were shot and four others were injured, police officials said. At least one victim was in critical condition and clinging to life early Sunday, law enforcement sources told The Post. Starbucks said Thursday it’s opening stores in 15 poor and middle-class inner-city locations across the USA, including one in Ferguson, Mo., as part of its bid to integrate more disadvantaged youths into the workforce. But now Starbucks is aiming to have a lasting impact on the community. An older couple walking on Sawyer Avenue in the Little Village neighborhood slowed as they approached the red police tape, and their eyes met those of two young officers standing inside the crime scene. Hate crimes have spiked in New York City in 2015, according to New York Police Department (NYPD) statistics released Sunday—particularly against Jews. Police are investigating a shooting in Liberty City that sent a 10-year-old boy to the hospital. Investigators were at the scene in the 6300 block of Northwest 17th Court for hours Wednesday night going over every little detail, after the boy was caught in the crossfire next to the Liberty Square Community Center. The increase in violence that has followed the death of Freddie Gray continued through the weekend, with four homicides reported since Saturday, according to Baltimore police. Ten people were reported shot on Sunday alone, including three who were shot to death within a span of 39 minutes. The violence comes as the city prepares for the Preakness on Saturday at Pimlico Race Course. Ten people were also shot Thursday. At least 87 people have been killed in Baltimore this year, 22 more than at this time last year. Nonfatal shootings are up nearly 50 percent across the city.
