Here is a brief video report about a Virginia World War II Congressional Medal of Honor winner who is fighting to keep the right to raise the American Flag on his flagpole every day. Ninety year-old Van Barfoot has been told by his homeowner's association the flagpole has to go. He intends to keep putting up his flag no matter what. Barfoot is a veteran of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. A decision is expected next week. The Richmond Times-Dispatch has more on the case. (VIDEO)

Here is video on the story that a Bank of America in Gaffney, South Carolina refused to allow a row of U.S. Flags to be placed in the yard of the bank to honor U.S. Marine Christopher Fowlkes, killed in Afghanistan. The video features Megyn Kelly talking with a neighbor of the fallen Marine who placed the flags in the ground in his honor. She said she noticed after placing the flags that they disappeared. They had been pulled up by the manager who told the neighbor that it was against policy to allow the flags. She also reportedly told...

Heather Lawrence didn't know the name of the girl with the Muslim head covering, or where she was from. But as Lawrence walked by a classroom at Springstead High School on Wednesday, the 16-year-old junior did know one thing: The girl wasn't standing for the Pledge of Allegiance. Lawrence, an JROTC member who plans to enlist in the Army next summer, says she was aghast. "That's one of the most disrespectful things you can do," Lawrence recalled Friday. "Even the kids who are anarchists, who hate our government, still have respect to stand." A few bells later, Lawrence was on...

They haven’t found the culprits yet who burned the U.S. and military flags of a former Marine in north Dallas this week. But support and offers to replace the flags have poured in. Avi Selk of the Dallas Morning News has the follow-up: Our little story about a few front-porch flags that got burned in Far North Dallas has sparked a firestorm of attention since it ran on Tuesday. The story, which my editor discovered from a single line in an obscure police report, (”UNK SUSP BURNED USA FLAG MOUNTED IN FRONT OF COMP RESIDENCE”) has also grabbed the attention...

In the home state of the Star-Spangled Banner, some lawmakers believe the flags flown here ought to be made in the land of the free and home of the brave, and not some other place -- like China. Harford County lawmakers have put in legislation requiring that any U.S. or Maryland flag displayed on state property must be made in the United States. A second, broader bill would make it a crime to sell an American or Maryland flag made outside the country.

"US Flag Code: "The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature." They are only following their messiah's example. After all, Obama's supporters are proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President. Is Obama planning on doing a Chavez? Oh, and Obama says we need a new Declaration of Independence too." Current top...

The McCain Campaign recycled the flags thrown into trash bins at Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver last week after the invocation of the Obamessiah. It seems that the disciples of the Obama had no use for the flags after Obama’s performance last week. So they promptly heaved them in waste receptacles. Some were thrown to the ground. The McCain campaign recycled them at a stop in Denver on Saturday in which McCain and Palin dispersed them to Republicans in attendance.

Oh, say can you see? It's the original Star Spangled Banner - ready to be unfurled again after a decade-long restoration project. It was a clear autumn morning on September 18, 1814, when Francis Scott Key caught sight of the "broad stripes and bright stars" flying over Fort McHenry in Maryland, inspiring him to write our national anthem. In preparation for the impending battle with British naval forces, Maj. George Armistead, the fort's commanding officer, had requested a flag "so large that the British will have no difficulty in seeing it from a distance." That it was: The flag was 30-by-42...

There is a huge blogswarm going on about this photo, from Chicago Magazine, of Obama's unrepentant terrorist associate, Bill Ayers stomping on the American flag. The photo was taken in 2001, the same time Obama served on the Woods Fund Board with Ayers. This was also the same time that Ayers donated to Obama's campaign. ... many political bloggers are saying it is long past due for Obama to disown his association with this controversial radical. ... It's worthy of recycling this to further probe into Obama's judgment, the one thing he says he should be measured by.

Her American flag sticker got a salute Friday, February 29, 2008 I feel compelled to tell your readers what happened to me after I left the Meijer store in Fruitport Township a short while ago. I still get goose bumps when I recall it. I have to use an electric scooter due to having Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which affects your muscles and ligaments. As I was riding the scooter out of the store, I saw a tall man, dressed in desert camouflage, standing by the side of my old car. It was still daylight, or I may have returned to the...

God is Back on U.S. Flag Certificates Tuesday , October 16, 2007 By L.A. Holmes WASHINGTON — God is here to stay, say members of Congress who on Tuesday presented a 17-year-old Eagle Scout with a corrected version of a certificate that accompanied a flag that he purchased to fly over the U.S. Capitol. Andrew LaRochelle was the first to raise questions about the Architect of the Capitol policy that censored the word “God” out of certificates verifying the flag's authenticity. The flags are purchased and flown at constituents' requests, and include personal messages that until last week could not...

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Lunacy among our public figures in this country certainly didn't subside over the weeks that I've been away from the broadcast. I've been no less than astounded by the incongruity, the contradiction, the specious and silly public statements by public and political figures over something like a flag pin worn on one's lapel. Like many Americans, I began wearing a flag pin after September 11. I do so out of respect for those killed in the terrorist attacks, and in recognition of this country's war on radical Islamist terror. It turns out that some journalists and...

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – On a day when he was planning to talk about other things, Sen. Barack Obama was forced this afternoon to talk about a flag lapel pin that he has not worn for years. "Patriotism to me, isn't what you wear on your lapel," the Illinois Democrat said in a statement. "It's what you carry in your heart. I don't need a pin to certify my love for this country." The statement, rapidly issued this afternoon, followed reports about an interview Wednesday with KCRG-TV of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In the interview, Obama said he does not wear one...

The ACLU of Nevada is concerned about recent media reports that it is "illegal" to fly foreign flags over the U.S. flag. While there is indeed a federal law regulating the display of the U.S. flag, that law is merely advisory and simply codifies standard government practice in displaying the American flag. Several federal courts have examined this law and held that the flag rules are not mandatory and cannot be enforced. Indeed, if the federal flag rules were mandatory, they would clearly violate the First Amendment, which protects every American's right to speak and express themselves, including their choice...

The History Of Flag Day The Fourth of July was traditionally celebrated as America's birthday, but the idea of an annual day specifically celebrating the Flag is believed to have first originated in 1885. BJ Cigrand, a schoolteacher, arranged for the pupils in the Fredonia, Wisconsin Public School, District 6, to observe June 14 (the 108th anniversary of the official adoption of The Stars and Stripes) as 'Flag Birthday'. In numerous magazines and newspaper articles and public addresses over the following years, Cigrand continued to enthusiastically advocate the observance of June 14 as 'Flag Birthday', or 'Flag Day'. On June...

Excerpt - WASHINGTON (AP)--Governors could order federal facilities to lower their flags to honor fallen military troops under legislation passed by the House Tuesday. Rep. Bart Stupak, a Democrat whose northern Michigan district has lost close to 20 people in fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, said he sponsored the bill after unsuccessfully trying to persuade President George W. Bush to issue an executive order on the issue. The bill passed 408-4 and now goes to the Senate, where Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin, D-Mich., and Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., have introduced parallel legislation. The measure would amend federal law...

I wrote last week that we'd see more outbreaks of anti-military vandalism leading up to Election Day. In upstate New York on Halloween eve, "(expletive) Bush" and a depiction of a penis were scrawled on the 20-by-40-foot flag and similar pictures in the same shade of green were painted on the American Legion Mohawk Post. Now there's this despicable act in Boise, Idaho reportedly committed by the sons of a state Democrat legislator: Police arrested 24-year old Michael Burkett of Boise early Sunday morning after officers with Capitol Mall Security reported spotting him vandalizing two flag polls on the grounds...

Every morning at sunrise, custodian John L. LOS ANGELES -- Rick Monday never tires of answering questions about that memorable day 30 years ago, when he performed his own Patriot Act and unwittingly became an icon to millions of American war heroes and their loved ones. Monday was playing center field for the Chicago Cubs on April 25, 1976, at Dodger Stadium when he noticed two protesters kneeling on the grass in left-center, intending to burn the American flag. He immediately bolted toward them and snatched it away.

HESPERIA — While thousands of Hispanic students spent the week facing suspension for walking out of class, now Caucasian students around the country are being handed the same penalty for waving the American flag. Flaunting the American flag is precisely what 13-year-old Cameron Miles did at Ranchero Middle School on Friday. Wearing two shirts, one with the American flag, school officials said he removed the one displaying his patriotism and began waving it at a group of Hispanic students on campus. “His friends began to hoist him on their shoulders so he could be more predominately displayed when the proctor...

This is what the homosexual movement (and the sign company, ClearChannel) thinks of the American Flag. This advertises a pornographic homosexual website for "hooking up." But it's more than that. We warned you: Legally sanctioned gay "marriage" is the green light to push this in your face -- in the schools, government, businesses, and the public square. This is also about desensitizing you and your family to homosexuality. When will you and your children drive by this in your neighborhood? This is just the beginning. Displaying the Flag Previous to Flag Day, June 14, 1923 there were no federal or state regulations governing display of the United States Flag. This purpose of providing guidance based on the Army and Navy procedures relating to display and associated questions about the U.S. Flag was adopted by all organizations in attendance. ALHAMBRA -- An American flag sent by a soldier in Iraq brought a heartfelt display of patriotism to Marguerita Elementary School on Thursday, as about 1,000 people from the school gathered to honor the military. 1st Sgt. Last week, you probably heard all about Newsweek’s inadvertent little faux pas regarding Gitmo, the Noble Qur’an, and a popular porcelain fixture. The story wasn’t true, although the lib/dem/soc/commie media are playing the “let’s pretend it really is true anyway” game. Oddly enough, they didn’t learn their lesson from the last time they tried that (see also: CBS, 60 Minutes, document forgery, etc.) so they trotted it out for another go. Folks are lamenting the 15 to 18 people who apparently died in the ensuing riots. Nobody knows the names of these people so far, or exactly where and how...

Background Maurice Bessinger, owner of the popular (and excellent!) chain of BBQ restaurants in the South Carolina midlands, once flew the largest American flag in the Columbia area. On Tuesday (August 22, 2000), however, he took it down and replaced it with the South Carolina state and Confederate Battle flags. The State newspaper and other local media, who all despise the Confederate flag, have been extremely critical, making this out to be a racist issue, with Maurice as the racist. They apparently didn't read Maurice's press release (see below) or ask Maurice why he did it. Actually, we are sure...

A local Virginia racetrack under fire for banning all flags from its infield last Thursday has now pulled a U-turn and lifted the rule. The reversal by Langley Speedway in Hampton, Va., follows national exposure of the issue in a WorldNetDaily story Saturday. Track ownership had claimed the ban was instituted to ensure a clear view of racing action for fans, and had nothing to do with the American flag itself. But some drivers and track employees felt it was an assault on Old Glory, and eight employees quit their jobs over the controversy. "I apologize to all of you...

Patriotic rage is being fueled this holiday weekend near the nation's birthplace after a local NASCAR racetrack in Virginia has banned the flying of flags in the track infield, prompting at least eight employees to quit their jobs. "The whole basis of our society is our flag and what this weekend represents. The ban just pushed me over the edge." Bowyer says in addition to himself, more than half...

As an Army and Navy custom, the flag is lowered daily at the last note of retreat. Special care should be taken that no part of the flag touches the ground. The Flag is then carefully folded into the shape of a tri-cornered hat, emblematic of the hats worn by colonial soldiers during the war for Independence. In the folding, the red and white stripes are finally wrapped into the blue, as the light of day vanishes into the darkness of night. This custom of special folding is reserved for the United States Flag alone. Flag Folding Ceremony -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The...

Portland Fire Bureau officials Monday ordered U.S. flags removed from downtown fire engines, concerned that their presence might provoke dangerous confrontations with antiwar demonstrators. "This policy will continue until we no longer have sustained close contact interaction with protesters and demonstrators," Deputy Chief Gary Warrington wrote in a memo to the city's three downtown companies. "Protesters have threatened our personnel and are burning flags in the street," the memo said. "We do not want extremists attacking our apparatus or our personnel." The order immediately proved incendiary with firefighters, who angrily complained. "Taking the flag down hits a lot of nerves...

I heard this when I was a kid, many years ago and wrote it down. Over time, I've made some changes here and there and don't have any idea where it originally came from. Hello--Remember Me?
