Wendy Davis, the Democratic nominee for governor of Texas, was supposed to be the candidate of women’s rights, what with her 11-hour filibuster of a bill that would ban abortions beyond 20 weeks (5 months). But sadly for her, women may not even be responding to her message. Davis trails her opponent, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, by a whopping 12 points among likely female voters, according to a new NYT/CBS/YouGov poll. Forty-nine percent of women surveyed preferred Abbott, compared to 37 percent for Davis.

Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis’ online campaign store is selling baby onesies for a $20 contribution. The messages on the clothing read, “Wendy Davis for Texas” and “Generation Wendy.” (Ironic for a candidate the media showcased as an abortion heroine.) The product description read: “Let everyone know that you’re raising the next generation of Texas Democrats with this Wendy Davis onesie. The Supreme Court on Tuesday blocked key parts of a 2013 law in Texas that had closed all but eight facilities providing abortions in America's second most-populous state. In an unsigned order, the justices sided with abortion rights advocates and health care providers in suspending an Oct. 2 ruling by a panel of the New Orleans-based U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals that Texas could immediately apply a rule making abortion clinics statewide spend millions of dollars on hospital-level upgrades.
