First of all, much to the dismay of many, I did not die tonight. Secondly, I've seen these funeral threads before where people mourn the FReeper and talk about what they meant to them (and more than a few FReepers who celebrate the death). But what's the point of that? Does the dead FReeper know anything, or see any of the kind or crass remarks about them? No. Pointless. We should have these sort of threads BEFORE they die. So that's why I'm doing my obituary thread tonight. Plus, there is the added advantage of me knowing the exact date...

Good God, I hope everyone in Congress recognizes what this bill, which apparently has now passed and Biden will sign it (seeing as he asked for it directly), means.Let's recap. Per our Constitution the military is under civilian control. That is, the actions of the military, including weapons used by same or suitable for same, are under the control of Congress and The Executive.Congress must authorize anything that leads to expense, and such must come from The House. Again, this is basic Constitution stuff. Now Congress has explicitly authorized, and Biden will sign, this bill that specifically permits the transfer to...

On Friday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The ReidOut,” Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) reacted to National Counterintelligence and Security Center (NCSC) Director William Evanina’s statement on threats to the 2020 election coming from Russia, China, and Iran by stating that “They are truly trying to conflate threats, I believe, to protect the president.” Host Joy Reid asked, “What do you make of the fact that there’s all this other information too about Iran and China. Do you worry that that information is being included in order to get it past Donald Trump, meaning, have something in there to both-sides it so that...

(Sigh...) How else can I start? I support Rick Santorum, donated to him, but I'm losing count of the times I watch him on a live interview and feel the need for a facepalm. God love you, Rick, but you do not think well on your feet (or perhaps someone working for isn't doing his job prepping you). When Chris asked Rick about siding with "big labor", the right answer was that "there are valid reasons for labor unions and I'll support them when it's fair to do so. Unions get a bad rap when union leaders abuse their leverage...

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama said Tuesday that home insulation "is sexy," his newest appeal for Congress to pass incentives for homeowners who make their homes more energy efficient. "Here's what's sexy about it. It saves money," the president said at a Northern Virginia Home Depot store. He was joined at the outlet by members of Congress representing Virginia and labor and business leaders involved in services to lower use of natural resources consumed by homeowners. Calling insulation the in-thing, Obama's pitch was part of a broader administration push to lower the nation's 10 percent unemployment rate. And it marked...
