Look it was bound to happen, I just didn't think it would happen so soon. The clown prince of the Florida Congressional team finally had a head explosion. It started back in the end of March when Neil Cavuto made mincemeat of him during an interview. That's when Grayson began his slide downhill. First it was his comment, “If you get sick, America, the Republicans’ health care plan is this: Die quickly.” Then, appearing on MSNBC, he said of former Vice President Dick Cheney: “I have trouble listening to what he says sometimes because of the blood that drips from...

Much has been made of the "middle" role CNN has taken in the cable news landscape. The position was made evident today in a new segment on American Morning. CNN contributor John Avlon (author of "Independent Nation") will name two people "wingnuts" each week — one from the left and one from the right. This week's picks: Cynthia McKinney and Michele Bachman. He explained in a blog post on CNN.com. "It builds on a simple premise — the far-right and the far-left are equally insane," he wrote. "What's a Wingnut? It's someone on the far-right wing or far-left wing of...

WASHINGTON (Map, News) - A Republican congressman from Georgia is calling President-elect Obama a Marxist and warning that he might be planning to form a Gestapo-like security force so he can rule as a dictator. Two-term Rep. Paul Broun of Athens cited a July speech that has circulated on the Internet in which Obama called for a civilian force to take some of the national security burden off the military.

The numbers are so staggering that they are hard to process mentally and impossible to process logistically: each month some 60,000 Iraqis are voting with their feet against the surge of U.S. forces by fleeing their homes. Since the invasion, more than 2.5 million Iraqis have left for neighboring countries, while 2.2 million have been forcibly displaced within Iraq - too poor to escape the country or blocked from transitioning through more peaceful provinces, which in recent months have erected checkpoints to keep them out. To put it in stark historical terms: the war has created the largest refugee crisis...

A former senior aerospace engineer at Boeing's Phantom Works research unit, fired last year under disputed circumstances, is going public with concerns that the new 787 Dreamliner is unsafe. Forty-six-year veteran Vince Weldon contends that in a crash landing that would be survivable in a metal airplane, the new jet's innovative composite plastic materials will shatter too easily and burn with toxic fumes. He backs up his views with e-mails from engineering colleagues at Boeing and claims the company isn't doing enough to test the plane's crashworthiness. Boeing vigorously denies Weldon's assertions, saying the questions he raised internally were addressed...

I am fed up with all the talk about Rudy`s leadership skills and how he is the right guy for the war on terror. I am very sad to learn that so many are ready to throw Jesus overboard for Rudy what`s his name.Rudy is for everything that our Lord Jesus is against. I am ashamed of all that are even considering voting for the man. He supports abortion and homosexuality. Vote for Rudy and you are saying goodbye to Jesus. You are spitting in God`s face when you support Rudy.

Pyotr Tchaikovsky INTRODUCTION Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was born on May 7, 1840 in Votkinsk, a small town in present-day Udmurtia (at the time the Vyatka Guberniya under Imperial Russia). He was the son of Ilya Petrovich Tchaikovsky, a mining engineer in the government mines, and the second of his three wives, Alexandra Andreyevna Assier, a Russian woman of French ancestry. He was the older brother (by some ten years) of the dramatist, librettist, and translator Modest Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Pyotr began piano lessons at the age of five, and in a few months he was already proficient at Friedrich Kalkbrenner's...

Keith Olbermann will continue to be a thorn in Bill O'Reilly's side for at least four more years. NBC News announced Thursday it had agreed to a "second term" with the MSNBC "Countdown" host, whose contract was due to expire next month. The extension will take him into 2011. Besides feuding with Fox News Channel's O'Reilly, Olbermann has become a liberal hero. He has seen his ratings increase since launching a series of anti-President Bush commentaries late last summer. . . .

The following remarks were prepared by Rep. Tom Tancredo for a speech at the Miami Rotary Club that he was forced to cancel because of threats of violence. Thank you for the kind introduction. Your own congressional representative, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, wanted to be here and was the first Miami resident to invite me to visit. I would love to have her visit Colorado, but first she has to do or say something controversial. If, for example, she would propose new federal legislation that prohibits Californians from emigrating to Colorado, she would be very popular in Colorado. Probably Denver Rotary or...

ORLANDO, Fla. _Rep. Katherine Harris said this week that God did not intend for the United States to be a "nation of secular laws" and that a failure to elect Christians to political office will allow lawmaking bodies to "legislate sin." The remarks, published in the weekly journal of the Florida Baptist State Convention, unleashed a torrent of criticism from political and religious officials. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., said she was "disgusted" by the comments "and deeply disappointed in Rep. Harris personally." Harris, Wasserman Schultz said, "clearly shows that she does not deserve to be a Representative . ....

Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH) gave the following floor speech today on legislation he is introducing to abolish all nuclear weapons: “In the Hindu religion Brahma, the creator, Vishnu, the preserver, and Siva, the destroyer, exist simultaneously and represent the multiplicity of God. Today, we are going to be called upon to determine which of the principles - creator, preserver or destroyer - shall work through each of us. “If we continue to pursue nuclear proliferation embodied in the nuclear agreement with India we will be open to the principals of destruction. At this moment when world tensions are rising...

We are losing our nation to illegal aliens, to the corporations, to the UN, to the eilitists, to the liberals and those who compromise. We no longer own this land. Our vote does not matter to the politicians who take kick backs from the CEOS who truly run this nation. Our jobs go overseas and what little is left is being taken away by the illegals coming to this nation. Our president and our government WILL NOT do anything about it. They dont care. I believe that the only way to save America is to revolt against the government the...

This is an update to my thread the other night about Cindy Sheehan. A group called Yearly Kos was auctioning off Cindy Sheehan to do a speaking engagement. Last time I checked, the bids were up to $1,275.00. There is also a thread about this auction on the eBay sellers central discussion forum called "AHHHHHH! Uh, well, at least shipping is free. Is this for real?" It can be found at http://forums.ebay.com/db2/thread.jspa?threadID=1000218333 This thread is still running in that forum, even after several days. Several of the posters there noted that the Cindy Sheehan auction violated ebay's policys, and apparently...

The Johnson Center came to life on Thursday when a protestor refused to comply with requests to leave the premises and was arrested by university police. WHITE HOUSE, Tenn. -- Play ball! As long as it's not Sunday morning. Leftwich said that he drove by the park Sunday morning on his way to services at Temple Baptist Church and saw that it was full of people at a soccer tournament. "God our Father intended...

A woman lost her son in Iraq and won't leave George W. Bush alone until he sees her. Who is she, and why is she stirring such emotion? Cindy Sheehan, 48, is not a natural-born revolutionary. She speaks in a high, almost childlike voice. She says like as often as any teenager, as in, "This whole thing was like so freaking spur of the moment." When her supporters gather to discuss strategy, Sheehan is not to be found in the circle of beach chairs; she is 50 yards up the road, doing yet another interview, hugging yet another stranger....

I don't know who makes me sicker – President Bush or the "conservatives" who continue to back him and his sell-out choice for the U.S. Supreme Court. The conservatives eagerly jumped in to throw their support to the unknown John Roberts as soon as the choice to replace Sandra Day O'Connor was announced. On what basis? The guy was a blank slate – like David Souter and Anthony Kennedy before him. Then, last week, the Los Angeles Times broke the story that Roberts had volunteered his services – pro bono – to help prepare a landmark homosexual activist case to...

WASHINGTON – Recent al-Qaida attacks using primitive bombs and inflicting relatively small numbers of casualties have persuaded some that Osama bin Laden's terrorist network has been unable to secure weapons of mass destruction or has been unable to smuggle them into the U.S. and other key target countries. In the wake of a series of reports from Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin about the nuclear terrorism threat, some skeptics of al-Qaida's ability to detonate nuclear weapons inside the U.S. most often suggest the problems with maintenance and technical attention. Others suggest Osama bin Laden may have purchased duds on the black...

If as it appears Bush will nominate a moderate named Edith Clement to the Court, will the Right bolt from the GOP in next years midterms? Bush, someone I have been a big fan of, is turning out to be a heck of a disappoinment. He hasn't controlled the borders and apparently only used the promise to appoint "strict constructionists" as a cynical ploy to get re-elected. Bush, like his father before him, is proving to be a huge demoralizer for the Right.

The family of Rachel Corrie, a pro-Palestinian activist killed by an Israel Defense Forces bulldozer in Rafah two years ago, sued the State of Israel and the IDF for damages in the Haifa District Court on Tuesday. The 24-year-old Corrie was killed on March 16, 2003 when she tried to block an IDF bulldozer from destroying a Palestinian house near the Philadelphi Route, the strip of land in the Gaza Strip bordering Egypt. An IDF investigation ruled the incident was an accident and that the driver did not see Corrie, and the military prosecutor's office decided not to press charges...

John Kerry wants neither American nor our allies’ military pullout from Iraq. Kerry even approached the Spanish prime-minister with this in mind but found no understanding at all. Mr. Salatero was firm in his denial of the prolonged Spanish military presence in Iraq ‘where during the last year of peace there were more killed than during the previous year at war. He also noted that the UN is still not in charge in Iraq. Perhaps the Spanish top official knew the real motives of Kerry. The guy’s doing brisk business there. That’s was quite a revelation for me! I AM A conservative Republican on most issues. But I can't donate to the GOP or vote for President Bush based on his - and the party's - stance on animal rights. I am a vegan and a proud member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. I'm disappointed that the Bush administration has done nothing to improve animals' lives. I saw a video of President Bush at a campaign stop during the 2000 election. In it, a reporter asks "What do you think about PETA?" Then-Gov. Bush responded sarcastically, "I'm glad I ate my bacon for breakfast today."...

Sometimes a new or offbeat word or phrase is used in common parlance for years before it sees print. Occasionally our computers' search engines, prowling the world of words for everything written or transcribed, can pick up an isolated usage. So it is with wing nut. Student group addresses sexuality, gender issues Alison Pierce Most Stanford students probably don’t spend time thinking about what it means to be “queer.” However, an increasingly visible and vocal queer community exists on campus, and a new student-run group called Querillas seeks to support it by increasing awareness about gender, sexuality and racial issues through activism, discussion and bimonthly meetings. Querillas’ stated mission is “to create and sustain queer activism and to mobilize, educate and empower members of the Stanford community. This is to effect fundamental, long-lasting changes in the University’s structure to ensure a commitment to furthering queer liberation.”...
