Former Gov. Christie Whitman says she stands by a tweet she deleted in which she compared President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler. The Republican tweeted Hitler "has nothing on" Trump. Whitman's tweet was in response to reports that a violent parody video depicting a likeness of Trump shooting and stabbing opponents and members of the media was played during a conference at his Miami golf resort. Whitman tells WNBC-TV in New York the comparison was "inflammatory", but she hoped the shock value would make people realize the severity of the situation. Two Roosevelt Island Tram cars carrying dozens of people over the East River were left hanging Tuesday when the system lost power due to a mechanical problem, officials say. Rescue crews have begun the process of using cages and baskets to get the passengers off. Both cars stopped moving around 5:15 p.m., stranding about 80 people, officials say. The tramcars were still stalled after 7 p.m. while engineers worked to restore power. One of the tramcars had about 50 people, the other about 30. We are told that there are nine children on board. On Tuesday, Feb. 24, Stern spent "nearly one hour of his show discussing explicit sexual activities between Rick Solomon and Paris Hilton," the American Family Association alleged. In a statement, AFA said it would ask its members to begin filing official indecency complaints against Infinity-owned stations if Viacom President Mel Karmazin doesn't immediately fire Howard Stern.
