An Israeli diplomatic source confirmed Wednesday morning to Walla! that Israel tried overnight to eliminate Mohammed Deif, the head of Hamas's "military wing," the Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades. Hamas has claimed that five bunker-buster bombs were fired by Israel targeting the elusive mastermind behind Hamas's terror war. "The wife of the great leader (Deif) was martyred with his daughter," wrote Hamas leader Moussa Abu Marzouk on his Facebook page Tuesday night, not indicating the fate of Deif himself. Hamas emergency services spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra later modified the appraisal, saying Deif's second wife Widad (27) and seven-month-old son Ali were killed in...

A grisly video released Tuesday shows Islamic State extremists beheading American journalist James Foley, U.S. officials said, in what the extremists called retribution for recent U.S. air strikes in Iraq. They threatened to kill another captive they also identified as an American journalist, Steven Sotloff, of Miami.

Muslim anti-Israel demonstrators attempted to force their way into a synagogue in Switzerland, the latest in a string of attacks on synagogues in Europe. The protest took place on Saturday, during the Jewish Sabbath, in front of the Beth Yaakov, or Grande, Synagogue in Geneva, according to JTA. The Intercommunity Coordination Against Anti-Semitism and Defamation watchdog organization (CICAD) reported that a Muslim woman wearing a niqab (veil) first attempted to enter the place of worship while waving a PLO flag and holding a placard saying "Every synagogue is an Israeli embassy" on Saturday morning but was prevented from doing so....

MK Erel Margalit (Labor) sharply condemned Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Wednesday morning, in the wake of the massive renewed rocket fire by Hamas terrorists since Tuesday afternoon in breach of the ceasefire. "Where is the prime minister?" asked Margalit on his Facebook page. "This is a disgrace, simply a disgrace. There's no other definition of what is happening here. A terrorist organization is holding target practice on Israel and deciding for it. It sends Israeli residents time and again to shelters and disrupts their lives," continued the MK. Hamas has itself supported Margalit's appraisal that it is determining what...

Pakistan opposition leader Imran Khan and cleric Tahirul Qadri on Tuesday marched with thousands of their supporters to enter the heavily fortified 'red zone', the capital's diplomatic and political enclave, as minor clashes took place between anti-government protesters and security personnel. "Promise me, if something were to happen to me, you will take revenge from Nawaz Sharif," Khan said while addressing his supporters before starting his march towards the red zone that houses important government buildings including the parliament house, prime minister house, president house, the supreme court besides embassies of various countries. Unfazed by army deployment, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf...

This banner is in line with supporters of the Islamic State taking photos of the Islamic State flag held in front of the White House and other landmarks. The objective is to “strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of Allah” (Qur’an 8:60) and to emphasize the desire of Islamic State jihadis to strike within the U.S. The fact that they have supporters here in the U.S. who can hold the banner in Missouri and the sign at the White House shows that such a strike is a very real possibility.Meanwhile, not just the jihadis quoted here but Hamas-linked...

The Obama administration is promising to change the way travelers can ask to be removed from its no-fly list of suspected terrorists banned from air travel. The decision comes after a federal judge's ruling that there was no meaningful way to challenge the designation, a situation deemed unconstitutional. In response, the Justice Department said the U.S. will change the process during the next six months. As of late last summer, about 48,000 people were on the no-fly list. The government's policy is never to confirm or deny that a person actually is on the no-fly list, citing national security concerns....

An American freelance photojournalist missing since being abducted in Syria some 22 months ago was apparently beheaded by an Islamic State militant in a graphic video released Tuesday. Titled “A Message to America,” the gruesome clip shows a masked militant saw away at the neck of James Wright Foley, a 40-year-old New Hampshire native captured in Binesh, Syria on Thanksgiving Day 2012. The family, on its "Free James Foley" Facebook page, has yet to confirm his death. (snip down to Foley's statement)“I call on my friends, family and loved ones to rise up against my real killers, the U.S. government....

Hamas says rocket fire came in response to airstrike on Gaza home, vows Israel will have no peace. Hamas declared on Tuesday night that Israel had “opened the gates of hell”. In a statement, the group’s so-called “military wing” said that it had resumed the rocket fire on Israel because the Israeli Air Force had launched an airstrike on a home in Gaza. The group warned that “the price will be a heavy one”. Senior Hamas official Ezzat al-Rishq warned, according to AFP, "Israel will not enjoy security so long as the Palestinian people do not, and it started it."...

Islamic State militants have released a video purportedly showing the beheading of a US journalist who went missing two years ago. The footage appears to show a masked man - speaking in English with traces of a British accent - killing James Foley, who was seized by armed men in Syria in November 2012. In the five-minute video, posted on social media sites by Islamic State sources, the group declares that Mr Foley was killed after Barack Obama ordered airstrikes against IS positions in northern Iraq. The group also claimed to be holding another American journalist, Steven Sotloff, and said...

ISIS has posted a video, claiming that they have beheaded American journalist James Foley of Rochester, New Hampshire. A Middle Eastern radio station’s reporter, Zaid Benjamin, has posted pictures to Twitter. Reportedly, the photos are from the video that ISIS posted. As Gaza terrorists breached the ceasefire and renewed their rocket fire on Israeli civilian centers Tuesday, Arab terrorists in the Israeli capital of Jerusalem apparently didn't want to be left out of the action. Two molotov cocktail attacks were launched in the eastern part of Jerusalem late Tuesday night. In the first incident two firebombs were hurled at an Egged bus driving on Yericho Road towards Moti Gur St., which passes adjacent to the Old City to the east. One of the two molotov cocktails exploded on impact, setting the bus on fire. No injuries were caused, but the bus...

U.S. officials are claiming that the terrorist group Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, is "now a credible alternative to al Qaeda." But what does that really mean in terms of ISIS' potential threat to the United States? After all, al Qaeda hasn't pulled off a successful attack in the States since 9/11, or indeed anywhere in the West since the London transportation bombings in 2005. This month, Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, criticized the airstrikes in Iraq ordered by President Barack Obama directed at ISIS as too limited, telling CNN's Candy Crowley, "That is simply a very narrow...

08.18.14 Pope Francis, ISIS, and the Last Crusade Is the Pontiff of Peace advocating war? No, but the self-proclaimed “Caliph” Ibrahim wants his fight to be a true holy war on both sides, and his strategy seems to be succeeding. Pope Francis is walking a knife edge—or perhaps, better said, the blade of a crusaders’ sword—as he tries to mobilize support for Christians and other minorities victimized by the ferocious partisans of the so-called Islamic state. “Where there is an unjust aggression I can only say that it is legitimate to stop the unjust aggressor,” he told reporters throwing questions...

Thousands of anti-government protesters armed with wire cutters and backed by cranes marched on Pakistan’s parliament Thursday, planning to remove barriers blocking them from soldiers guarding the seat of the country’s government. Pakistani television channels showed live footage of the troops taking positions in the so-called “Red Zone,” which also holds the president and prime minister’s ceremonial homes and many diplomatic posts. That set up a possible showdown between hundreds of soldiers and some 30,000 protesters backing opposition candidate Imran Khan and anti-government cleric Tahir-ul-Qadri. Both men have called on by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to step down over allegations...

On Tuesday August 12, Marc Leibowitz alerted Homeland Security that a black flag of the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) was hanging on a house in Garwood, New Jersey. As a former Israeli paratrooper he understood the importance of reporting suspicious activity. The black flag that was hanging in New Jersey is an indisputable identifier of jihadist terrorist groups including al-Qaeda. It is one of several variations of the ‘Black Flags of Jihad’. It is a variant design of the Black Standard Al-Raya flag a.k.a. The Black Banner, Banner of the Eagle and The Banner. The white writing...

Confusion about what constitutes halal meat sparked a blunder at a community barbecue in Fairview on Saturday. After failing to provide halal meat, event organizers tried to remedy the oversight by having a local politician bless regular hotdogs. Patricia Arab, Liberal MLA for Fairview-Clayton Park, said a prayer over the hotdogs, mistakenly thinking this would make the meat halal. Meat that is halal, which means “permissible” in Arabic, is prepared following precise instructions detailed in the Qur’an. A halal animal must be healthy and fed a natural diet that does not contain animal byproducts. When it’s slaughtered, it is blessed...
