The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin ^ | December 24, 2013 | David Allen
John Zachary created a Nativity scene for Claremont United Methodist Church that employs a figure of Trayvon Martin as a commentary on gun violence. Previous scenes have had Mary and Joseph as a homeless couple and as war refugees. “You try to put it in a context of how it would be today,” Zachary said.Nativity scenes have a few standard elements: a manger, swaddling clothes, happy parents, sheep, maybe the Three Wise Men. They don’t generally include Trayvon Martin. But there he is, wearing a hoodie, a stream of blood pouring from his chest onto the straw-covered floor of the...

George Zimmerman earned a new title today — professional artist — when eBay bidding ended on his six-figure oil painting. The winning bid: $100,099.99. It wasn't immediately known who bought Zimmerman's original oil painting showing part of an American flag washed in blue with the words "God," "one nation," and "with liberty and justice for all" printed in the flag stripes. Bidding ended at 12:55 p.m. today. "Whoever wins within the Continental United States, will receive this painting delivered by me personally. Your friend," Zimmerman told his commenters on the eBay auction site.

Swaggering George Zimmerman grinned after he collected his personal items from a police station - and walked out side by side with the girlfriend he was charged with attacking. The couple were pictured smiling broadly while leaving Sanford Police Department together where they both picked up their belongings which had been confiscated by detectives. A police department employee escorted the couple back to their car carrying a sealed evidence box in her left hand - thought to contain a handgun. Mr Zimmerman, 30, who was acquitted of murdering Trayvon Martin, had his five guns seized after being arrested last month...

I have been observing and writing about the George Zimmerman digital lynching from very early on. As I monitor and write about self defense stories, I caught an early version of the events in Sanford, Florida. The story said that a black teenager had been shot in self defense. A picture was included. Reading the story, I concluded that the picture was that of the black teenager that had been shot. I was wrong. The picture was of George Zimmerman.

Bids for a painting by George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch captain who admitted to killing Florida teenager Trayvon Martin, have reached $100,000 on eBay, the online auction house. The painting is the first work by Zimmerman, who was acquitted in Martin's death, but it's not the first by a notorious character more famous for his crimes than his art. [Snip] Jodi Arias, convicted of murdering her boyfriend Travis Alexander in May, began selling limited edition prints she drew in prison with colored pencils. [Snip] John Wayne Gacy, a serial murderer nicknamed the "Killer Clown," began producing works of art for...

George Zimmerman is selling an original painting on eBay and with several days remaining on the auction, bids on the former neighborhood watch captain’s art had reached $100,000. George Zimmerman, who is now a free man again after girlfriend Samantha Scheibe declined to press charges for an alleged domestic abuse in November, will be getting his guns and ammo back. Zimmerman vaulted into notoriety when he killed an unarmed black teen, Trayvon Martin, in Febuary 2012 in Florida. He was acquitted of wrongdoing by a jury in September 2013, but has gotten into trouble multiple times since then, such as getting pulled over for speeding three times, and after spats with both his wife and his girlfriend. Since Scheibe refused to testify against Zimmerman after initially saying Zimmerman...

Trayvon Martin's parents are working on a book about the killing of their son and the trial and acquittal in Florida of George Zimmerman, publishers say. Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin met with publishers to discuss the book, the New York Times reported Friday. Publishing executives said the couple talked about the role of race in the killing and religion in their lives. Trayvon was 17 and walking to a relative's house when he encountered Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, in a gated community in Sanford, Fla. The teenager was unarmed but Zimmerman's attorneys argued he jumped Zimmerman, who fired...

ROCK HILL • Sitting inside a Starbucks, sipping black coffee, joking with the baristas, Dan Zimmerman doesn’t look like a gun guy. He looks like a guy who might work in accounts receivable, which is what this Olivette resident did for years. He is 53, balding, wearing tortoise shell glasses, carrying a little extra weight and dressed in the beige tones of business casual. He smiles easily. He is working on a laptop at a back table. He also might be packing heat. Could be his .38 snubby. Maybe his Kahr 9 mm. He won’t say. “I really don’t talk...

THERE THEY were, just below Martha Stewart and Paula Deen and Allure in the magazine rack at the supermarket: the gun periodicals. I bought three. Back at the place where I was staying — this was in upstate New York, a week ago — I pored over the ads and the editorial content, trying to understand what they were saying, and to whom. First, they want you to buy a gun. It will probably not be your first gun; it will be an addition to, and an improvement on, the gun or guns you already own. It may deliver “precision...

Florida prosecutors say they will not file domestic violence charges against George Zimmerman after he was arrested in an incident with his girlfriend last month. Zimmerman, who was acquitted earlier this year in the highly-publicized murder trial of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, had faced charges of aggravated assault, battery and criminal mischief following the Nov. 18 incident at the central Florida house he shared with Samantha Scheibe. Schiebe told authorities Zimmerman had threatened her with a gun, but in a sworn affidavit last week recanted her claims, and asked for the charges to be dropped.

The woman who told police that George Zimmerman pointed a gun at her face has recanted her story and is now saying “I want to be with George,” according to a court affidavit published by the Orlando Sentinel. Last month, Samantha Scheibe called 911 to report that Zimmerman had pointed a shotgun at her face during a domestic disturbance sparked after she asked the former neighborhood watchman to move out of her house. The 911 call from last month’s incident captures Scheibe yelling at Zimmerman, “You point your gun at my fricking face.” Scheibe said that Zimmerman also pushed her...

Saying that she was not coerced, Samantha Scheibe wants the charges against her boyfriend, George Zimmerman dropped. Zimmerman was arrested in November after Scheibe accused him of pointing a gun at her, smashing a coffee table and pushing her. She doesn't want him charged with aggravated assault, battery and criminal mischief, and that the detectives misinterpreted what she said. In the affidavit, she calls Zimmerman ``my boyfriend''. Prosecutors may continue with the case despite her request. Zimmerman was acquitted of any crime last summer in the shooting death of teen Trayvon Martin.

George Zimmerman's girlfriend who called Florida police to say he was breaking her stuff and was brandishing a weapon no longer wants to press charges against him and instead wants to get back together with him. Zimmerman, 30, who faces a felony aggravated assault charge as well as lesser charges stemming from the incident, is asking to have conditions of his bail modified so he can resume contact with Samantha Scheibe. According to court documents filed by Zimmerman's attorney Jayne Weintraub, Scheibe, 27, gave a sworn statement in which she wrote, "I do not want George Zimmerman charged." Zimmerman, who...
