It is the "humanists" and "scientists" of the Renaissance and the "200-year European Enlightenment" that are directly responsible for the Left as we know it today. How can any conservative celebrate these things?

There is simply no way that the early church was a "Bible only" church. How could anyone possibly believe that in the first and second centuries everyone had a copy of the complete bible to carry with them everywhere? There is no doubt that the early chrstians got their teachings from the church and its leaders, not the bible.

This is not an endorsement of Catholicism, however. It is a call for Protestants to reexamine their commitment to chrstianity.

I wouldn't worry though. Believe me, so long as Catholicism all but requires belief in evolution and the documentary hypothesis, intellectuals will be the only Protestants converting. And you know what they say about intellectuals.

I continue to marvel that, of all the sins of which liberal American Jews are guilty (and they are many), the one that makes "paleos" scream the loudest is that they support Israel--their least objectionable position. You'd think the constant and continuing secularization would attract some attention but no, the worst thing they do is support Israel--their one position that actually pulls them to the right.

Good cop bad cop? Israel runs AIPAC and J Street? You mean like how they secretly ran the Communist world and ordered them to support the Arabs so no one would figure it out?

The Jewish position on abortion is not identical to that of the Catholic Church. This is true. Time was when the teaching of Fundamentalist Protestants on the subject were also different (remember "Never let your wife have a baby in a Catholic hospital"?).

Two points:

I can guarantee you that this lady is not Orthodox. Meanwhile abortion is the number one cause of secular Jews and they seem to think that makes up the whole of the Jewish religion.

Judaism is a religion of Divine Law. The point is that G-d is the boss. He determines everything. The issue of abortion is also a matter of Divine Law. Most of the time it is absolutely forbidden. On a few occasions (very rare) it may be mandatory. But this is determined by the Laws of G-d and not those of man or of "natural law." (Also, the Noahide Laws on abortion that apply to non-Jews are much stricter than the Torah Law to Jews.)

It is really a shame that so many people who claim to love the Jews don't have the slightest familiarity with the Jewish religion. Judaism is not about "religious freedom." Ancient Israel had no religious freedom. It is about living a life that is wholly dedicated to submission to the Laws and Will of G-d.

I wish FReepers would stop letting radicals and wackos define the Jewish religion for them and learn a little about it themselves.

When you are one out of seven of anything it is just kinda silly to say that you are the real thing and the rest are not.

Nevertheless it is true. Jews who don't practice Judaism are Jews (some of them), but they're not THE Jews. It's called the Remnant.

They may be gloating, but they aren't doing anything. They believe it is a Divine punishment from G-d, and you know? It may very well be.

In some ways islam is closer to Judaism because it believes in only One G-d and doesn't use images or teach a trinity or that there are a good G-d and an evil "gxd" engaged in a great cosmic war. However, it rejects the Torah, while chrstianity accepts it. So while islam is not idolatrous in the traditional sense of the word (it is still false and forbidden) moslems cannot be taught Torah while chrstians can (at lease up to a point). But if you think islam was invented by "the Jews" because they don't like Europeans or that only Jews--including Orthodox Jews--then you are beyond help.

Those rabbis are guilty of vicious anti-Christian/anti-European hate. But I'm the bad guy for pointing them out.

I will never understand this identification of chrstianity with European ethnicity, or why "white chrstians" are more chrstian than any other kind--especially when one considers how far east it spreak (India and Chinese Turkistan) before it made real headway in Europe.

Is or is not chrstianity a universal religion? Does it not claim to be the "one true religion?" If so, then what does Europe have to do with it? What does "western civilization" have to do with it? Some religions are ethnic (such as Judaism, which they admit), but chrstianity was supposedly never meant to be an ethnic religion. But you're not worried about Theology. All you care about are European genes and chromosomes.

I'm glad I grew up in the Bible Belt with only the Ancient Israelites as my "saints" and heroes. I'm glad I didn't even know Jews and chrstians were supposed to be enemies. I have had my eyes open since then, but historical chrstianity turned out to be so utterly alien to everything I thought chrstianity was supposed to mean that I had no choice but to cease being a chrstian altogether. I am sorry for your handicap in having known only the "real thing."

Anti-Semites don't seem to understand the difference between Orthodox Jews who actually observe the Torah and secular liberal Jews who are unfortunately in the majority.

Until the so-called "enlightenment" there was only one kind of Jew. Secular Jews did not exist. Most even in exile lived in a Theocratic state-within-a-state under the civil authority of the Rabbinate who had powers of coercion and punishment. The only alternative was to apostasize and convert to another religion.

Since the "enlightenment" however most Jews have become radically secular. And it is unfortunately true that secular Jews seem to think that they represent the authentic Jewish tradition and are the "official" Jewish leadership. They are not.

All those "federations" and AJCs do not represent the authentic Jewish tradition. This still exists where it always has, in the authentic Rabbinate, Torah Sages, and Battei Din (Jewish religious courts). Yet when people complain about "the Jews" they always mean secular non-Jewish Jews. Some even seem to think that secular Jews actually are observing the Jewish religion by pushing secularism and de-criminalization of various sins (mostly secular). You probably won't believe me, but secular Jews are not Talmudists. Orthodox Jews are Talmudists. They Talmud is a vast amount of literature that takes a lifetime to study through, but you can bet your bippy that it doesn't have any instructions on how to make porn or advocate decriminalization of sexual perversions.

Also, secular Jews aren't very bright. They spend most of their time attacking the "old testament" because it is so "savage" and reactionary and un-scientific. They probably wish it had been written by chrstians because they're so ashamed of it.

Plus, it would be revenge for “2,000 years of Christian persecution.” (Not that the persecution was always one-way.)

You forget that Jews do not, and cannot accept the Hebrew Bible for the same reason that chrstians do, ie, because it was endorsed by J*sus. They were there when it happened and heard the very Voice of G-d. They didn't have the option of waiting a thousand years for permission to do what G-d was commanding. This accepting Divine Revelation only on the authority of a religion that didn't even exist for a thousand years after Sinai ought to illustrate perfectly the illogic of chrstianity. That it doesn't tells us a lot about chrstians.

I wish our domestic lefties were as easily disposed of. Now that they're desperate they're crazier and more aggressive than ever, and they've been winning elections!
