My ancestry was a major part of the CSA!! Especially in your set of views as to why that war had been fought. I have not built my identity off of my families history. My character has been built on my experiences as a person. Do Not associate the Kluxers with the whole south! Those knuckle heads don't know their head from a cow pie in the dirt.

As for myself explaining to you my beloved family details, you've got to be kidding me! If you want the truth go and find it on your own... you will not be getting a free rid off of me. Nor will I allow you to insult my family for the decisions they had made.

So, direct your attention to the present time, look around, and see where your “Big Government” has taken this “Country!” If politicians would mind their own business, they wouldn't have sold this “Union” up the river!!! Now this "Union" is faced with the similarities to the Pre-Civil War era . Here is a link:

What makes this day in time different from 150 years ago? Well we don't have slaves, but the people of the country have slowly but surely become just that. Not enslaved by ones fist, but enslaved by the Laws govern the people!

Down junior,
No personal offense was intended. That should have been clear. If you want to tie your ancestors to the whole of the CSA, that's your call. Then you tie them to the negative. Something I didn't impugn. My views are based on objectivity, not personal bias.

As for the Klan reference in the 1920’s I was actually thinking if Indiana and even the march in Washington D.C. It was as prevalent in the North as the South.

If you don't want to share, fine. As for insulting your family ancestors, why do you think I would? I simply offered to have you share what you were proud of. Nothing in any of the posts on this thread from me have been personal attacks, although I have been sharp in replies to attacks against me.

I am not afraid of the truth. I don't deny it. I don't promote revisionism when it doesn't match what I want to believe. I was trying to be nice. You don't wish to be the same, fine. No skin off my nose.

The problem with computers is that you can not hear a tone, as you would if you were to speak to someone. I wasn’t being mean, nor was my intention to do so. I was only encouraging you to seek that sort of information on your own. If you are serious about your inquiries, you can contact the SCV which could get you into contact with people to better serve you. I don’t trust anyone on a computer, because there is no personal repertoire built. You surely wouldn’t air your families dirty laundry to the world. I guess I will leave it at that, best regards.

Yea, I see your point there.
I don't share personal info either. I was thinking more of some personal story relayed down through history.
I am interested when I can find info that seem untouched by bias.
The CSS Hunley is a good example of fascinating history and personal insights of people of the time.

Best regards to you also.

From your post you like or own Firearms?

If I do or don't is imaterial to the discussion (and frankly no ones business but mine.)

Let's say our Government passed a law regarding traffic violations and gun ownership..

Which government are you talking about? Local, State or Federal?

From my reading of the Constitution, the Federal Government has absolutely no ability to turn a 'summary offense' such as a speeding ticket into a "Federal Case." If they attempted to do so, it would be a clear instance of over reaching by Federal authorities who should promptly have their weenies whacked by the closest Federal court. In fact, they have had their ass kicked in the Supreme Court for attempting to apply felonies in foreign countries as justification. See Small v United States.

Now I can easily see state legislatures or local authorities enacting such an unconstitutional ban. It has happened. Granted, it would be a long and tortuous legal process proceeding through state courts and eventually to Federal court to have the such onerous a law overturned, but I do believe it would happen.

This is why the Constitution is important. The worst unconstitional provisions put on us have not been by the Federal government, but by state and local governments. They are far more prone to over reach on civil liberties than the Feds, who only want our money. ;~((

Connected yes, equated? Nope.. that’s just ignorant dogma regurgitated by idiots who haven’t bothered to study one iota of the history of the United States from 1789 through 1864.

“It ain’t when you die. Hell, we all die. It’s how you die and as long as there’s one Southerner observing the remembrance of those Confederate soldiers that fought to defend their country then they will have not have died in vain.”

Indeed, they did not die in vain.

Love your post, Cowboy.

Respectfully for you:

(In part), the Bellamy Bros.:

The pines trees grow so tall in the bright sunshine
Young boy steals his daddy’s fishing line
Alligator lays on the banks of the river bed
And if you didn’t know any better, you’d swear he’s dead

Now these are a few things I’m in love with
A small part of the reasons I go back
To Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, gorgeous Georgia
Now if you think I’m happy down there your on the right track

And you ain’t just whistling Dixie
You ain’t just slapping your knee
I’m a grandson of the southland
And heir to the confederacy
You ain’t just whistling Dixie
‘Cause the cattle calls calling me home
So put me down there where I want to be
Plant my feet with Robert E. Lee...

For those of you “up there,” I so wish you could understand why Blacks and Whites alike love the South. It’s somewhere like no place on earth. It’s my heritage of which I’m proud; it’s my home and hopefully will always be, our Good Lord willing; and it’s where I will finally rest my bones with my brothers and sisters of all colors. Some of you just don’t get it - not all.

We still trust in God. We still ask of Him to bless us. We still pray for our neighbors (even those of the Northern persuasion). We still spank our children and teach them the Word. We may not go out for caffe e lattes every morning to mingle with strangers, but rather ask a neighbor what we can do for them. We still - no matter what urgency we may be in at the time - pull over for funerals of those of any colour and whilst parked and waiting, we pray for the family and friends of the deceased; we respect one another with things so old-fashioned as Yes, Ma’am and No, Sir, and taking freshly baked bread or homemade soup to those ill. New neighbor and in need? We give whatever you need, and know that God will provide us with what’s given for the benefit of others. We have true neighbors in the Godly sense. I only wish that the entire US of A could experience the South and give the same love and warmth to those around them.

Perhaps this country would be a better place with a little Southern hospitality spread throughout.

Best Regards to You All (Y’all),

BR

Admit it, the Jeffersonian republic is dead...

Hell, it was dead when Jefferson was alive. It never existed in the first place. It was just an idea.

You seem to think that there was some golden age in America. There never was, and never will be.

It's always a struggle to preserve liberty. Someone is always going to try to steal our liberty. That's just the way it is.

Eternal Vigilance.

You mean like the hospitality you and yours have spread throughout this post? Thanks, but I'll pass.

But you assume I support it simply because I'm from the North. Did you support Clinton and Carter because they were good old Southern boys?

I did not support Clinton or Carter.

For one, Clinton can be dismissed as a Southerner because he went to a yankee Ivy League school where he was indoctrinated into the yankee/socialist/communist mentality.

Carter? Who the hell can figure Carter..........

Dying in a war started by your government to protect their institution of slavery is.

Dying in a war started by your government to protect their institution of slavery is defending their country from yankee invaders to protect rights enumerated in the constitution, particularly the 10th Amendment.

There. Fixed it.

Question, NS: In light of Obama and the dems stomping all over the Constitution and the impending era of European socialism being forced on US citizens, do you still believe that the Union must be held together at all cost (as you have stated in past threads) even if the price is freedom?

How about these?

That's the best you can do?

A hand full of pro-union traitors to The Cause?

Poppycock................

Don't forget about the Yankees who move down here, complain about how high the taxes were and how awful the regulations were back in their old state, and then they vote to turn our states in the same direction.

They just passed a zoning law in my area this past Monday. Wouldn't have happened if not for the influx of arrogant, relocated yankees.

They see no inconsistency with this and the fact that they moved down here to escape the high taxes.

It's a modern day yankee conundrum. They move down here and fight to establish the same crummy system that they fled from.

Stuck on stupid..........

Those states don't have many votes, so it falls to the South to keep the leftist ‘Rats at bay. This is driving these so-called moderate Republicans crazy and they vent their frustrations (over a mess they helped create) by hating Dixie.

I'm not so sure that the RINO's want to keep the leftist rats at bay. McCain all but the handed them the presidency with that stupid 'cross the isle' campaign of his and the RINO's left in congress are lining up to kiss Obonga's ass.

Move down here and carry on voting the way they have in their old state thus making their new southern state look like the dump of a place they left.

Ain't that the truth.

I've seen Newark. I've seen Detroit.

How long before they turn a nice clean city like Greenville, SC into a dump like Newark?

It's called thinning the heard. We send you all our stupid ones and our old and crotchety ones so that you have to put up with them and not us. It's working, but now you're catching on to our secret.

Let's see if I have this straight: you're saying that the yankess that stay up north, putting up with the snow, the traffic, the urban blight, high taxes, the crime, the liberal democrat controlled governments, etc, are the 'smart ones'?

Bwahahahahhahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, you just don't understand. We send down there the dumb ones. The annoying ones. The ones who move in next to you and complain about the guns and grits. Who start talking about how much better the place would be if you only did things like they did up North, and then set out to accomplish it. The cranky, crotchety right-turn-signal-leaving-on, doing-30-in-a-50-zone, senior citizens. We do this because we don't want to put up with them and we know that it absolutely annoys the hell out of people like you. And I always thought it was working, but now you seem to be saying that you think we sent you the smart ones. Damn, boy. You're more gullible than I thought.

You are the last person I would have guessed would complain about my not moving South. Well, take my word for it. You can shoot all the transplanted Yankees you want and I guarantee that you won't hit me. Sorry to disappoint.
