Fans of 42% effective government schools come after homeschools for only being 99% effective.

Here's how to keep up to date with Homeschooler Michelle's concerns:

Why are you on FR?

Because I want to be.....if you can’t take criticism why are you here.....I guess you children can’t take a simple test? Is that the problem.....reading????? How about SATs? I suppose you will not allow them to take those too. Are you going to allow them out of the house????? You going to care for them when they are 50? See I can be nice too just like you.

Again, your opinion. Do you think Catholic schools don’t have a multitude of problems and issues just because they’re Catholic? Where do you think all the Catholic schoolgirl jokes came from??? :o)

Read some of John Taylor Gatto’s writings to see why the traditional school format, regardless of the type of school, is more about producing a factory product that a well-rounded, educated child. Homeschoolers tend to be the type that swim against the flow. I was a public school teacher, BTW.

I turned you in.....you should be getting a notice to knock it off from the Admin Mod any time now. Good night. Unlike you, I have a job and I have duty in the morning.....I would sure love to spend the day in bed lounging around like you, but I have responsibilities to get to .

"You sure are a nosey bitty aren’t you?"

Sorry, what did you say? I couldn't hear you because I was busy locking the chains on my homeschooled children to make sure they never see the light of day.

By the way: EVERYTHING the MSM tells you about homeschooling is true.

“How well do Homeschoolers do on those nationalized tests? That should be the only qualification to homeschooling.”

—”Nearly 80% of homeschooled children achieved individual scores above the national average and 54.7% of the 16,000 homeschoolers achieved individual scores in the top quarter of the population, more than double the number of conventional school students who score in the top quarter.”

I have no problem with homeschooling as long as they are passing the nationalized test that is given. Obviously they are or the government would be screaming it from the rooftops. It is only good for the homeschoolers.

What national test. There is no test to get into third grade for example. Nor is there a test to graduate from high school.

Why should homeschoolers pass more stringent requirements than government schoolers?

I am actually more a proponent of Catholic Schools than homeschooling. There is no other place better equipped for success than Catholic Schools.

Sure there is.

Home.....

Then why do you advocate for government control and approval of homeschooling?

Please keep an open mind about homeschooling.

There is a **reason** the Marxists have not pushed heavily for testing of homeschoolers. If homeschoolers were forced to take tests, they would put the institutionalized kids to shame. The Marxist running the government schools don't want **that** very glaring comparison!

My own children ( who are **not** brighter than any of the children of other Freepers) thrived in homeschooling.

All three were in college at the ages of 13, 12, and 13. All three finished Calculus III and all general college general courses by the age of 15. The two younger finished B.S. degrees in math by the age of 18. One is now studying to be a register nurse. The other earned a masters in math at the age of 20 and taught in a Catholic school. She is now a full-time mom.

Homeschooling allowed the oldest to pursue full-time training in a sport. Each year he competed in the U.S. national competitions and had the privilege to represent the U.S. throughout the world as part of the U.S. team. He attended night school and studied accounting. He also choose to interrupt his studies and training for a few years and work for our church in Eastern Europe. As a result he is completely fluent in Russian. He has since retired from competition and is now in one the highest ranked masters programs in the U.S. in accounting. Although he will finish a masters at an age typical of those attending government school, his fluency in Russian and his unique travel and competition experiences will be an advantage in both work and his personal life. ( By the way...He is getting married to a beautiful young woman the day after Thanksgiving. She too is very active in our church.)

There was a time in our nation when it was **common** for young men to be in college in their early teens. With homeschooling we may see those days again.

Institutionalization of children retards the emotional, social, and academic progress of bright children, and frustrates the slower children. Children are not widgets. They are **people** and it is cruel to educate them in buildings better suited for Tyson chickens.

I have no problem with homeschooling, period. No qualification. Anyone that is for freedom, liberties, and personal responsibilties should feel the same.

If you(’re) going to advocate for public schooling, then perhaps it would behoove you to make sure that you(r) grammar is superior to that of homeschoolers.

Twice now, in two different posts, you’ve said *you* instead of *your* (post 20 and 23). Is this an example of what you want homeschooling to bend its knee to?

My children certainly can take SAT’s. And ACT’s as well, and can yours get in the 1500’s on them, as mine did? All three of them?

And end up in the honor’s programs in their respective private university’s programs?

You don’t want to even go there comparing public school kids to mine. My kids would easily toast 95% of the public institutionalized kids any day, and they have. They have the grades to prove it.

You can try to hide it and deflect the argument any way you want, but what you’re advocating for is government control of the education of private citizens. We don’t need the government watching out for us, all for our own good, of course.

The government can’t even make sure that the kids entrusted to them for education get a decent one. How the heck are they going to be able to tell if a child outside their institution is getting a good one.

And nationalized and standardized tests are a joke; an absolute farce.

It’s the failures of the institutionalized public education system who end up with GED’s, not homeschoolers.
