I know that is true with alcohol, opioid's not so much. But fentanyl is quite easy to overdose, as it is very dangerous to even touch, from my understanding. Never tried it, never will since it came after I quit. I'm happy to say that I have been drug free for a couple of decades now, and I tried it all back in the day. When it came to heroin, I knew I couldn't afford it, and I wasn't willing to enter a life of crime to support it. But I still imbibed several times. Cocaine I fortunately didn't care for much. Because the high was so short before you were back getting more. Also too expensive.

But I loved my smoke, pot & hash, and my psychedelics. But when I decided to quit, I just walked away. My reason for walking away, was that I was enriching horrible people in the drug trafficking racket. I wish I had come to that realization long before I finally did. But it was always purchased from friends I knew. those friends were several levels removed from the really bad actors in the business.

The really hard stuff came from two brothers I knew. Needless to say, they both have departed. The older brother years ago, & the younger brother within the last decade, as I learned from another friend.

The habit of the act was quickly overcome. In many ways, I'm am surprised I am still walking this earth. By all rights I shouldn't be, that is for sure. 😋

Yes you can. That’s the thing people don’t realize. The body compensates for all those drugs and if you stop suddenly, the withdrawals can kill you.
