Again the media is not reporting the facts of this correctly. In many of the news stories covering this matter, the journalist states that Armstrong was paid by the Education Department. This could not be further from the truth. The Education Department paid a public relations firm to promote their policy. It was that firm that employed Armstrong, and the contract was between Armstrong and the PR firm. This is an attempt to connect the White House to another scandalAhhh ... so because there was an intermediary, that absolves the White House of any wrongdoing.
Sorry, but the person in the Education Department in charge of that contract with the PR firm should have monitored that contract. $250,000 is hardly a piddling amount that would have been buried and hard to find during an audit or review of the contract.
