The Anti-American fossil liberals are at it again - rallying against cleaner burning fuel - liquified natural gas (LNG). Perhaps there should be counter-demonstrators representing freedom, capitalism, quality of life, and in general, pro-American interests.

Is there any form of energy that the fossil liberals are not against?

Fossil fuels have increased the standard of living and quality of life world-wide.
Fossil liberals want to send us back to the stone age (or earlier).

It would not be surprising if they oppose hydrogen based energy and automobiles.

I thought liquified natural gas burns cleaner than most other fuels.

One of my friends had the following to offer:

"About 10+ years ago I heard Dr. Helen Calidicott give a talk at a secular humanist meeting. She was very anti-american, anti-self defense and anti-gun. I also met Paul Watson a number of times and found him to be perpetualy looking for funds."

Another friend pointed out that Dr. Helen Caldicott is anti-nuclear and in general against anything that is in America's best interest.

Here is additional information from their lefty website, http://milliontomorrows.org/index.html:

GUEST SPEAKERS:

Dr. Helen Caldicott

Nobel-prize nominee Dr. Helen Caldicott will speak about the global politics of fossil fuels (like liquefied natural gas) and renewable energy.

Captain Paul Watson

Cofounder of Greenpeace and the Sea Shepherds and member of the Sierra Club board of directors, Paul Watson will speak about environmental aspects of LNG and renewable energy.

Loretta Lynch

Recent California Public Utilities Commissioner President, Ms. Lynch will speak about how California can have enough natural gas to meet its future needs without importing LNG.

Entertainment will focus on music and dance of Indigenous Peoples.

A free Renewable Energy Street Fair will be held the same day on 6th Street between Mesa & Pacific Streets, San Pedro, from 10:30 to 1:30.

All proceeds go to sponsoring environmental groups.

"And he [President Bush] endorsed giving federal regulators final say over the location of liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminals. LNG terminal projects have been stymied in some regions by local opposition, even though the need for more LNG imports has been widely accepted." (AP Josef Hebert, April 2005)

The State of California, would be happy to receive the business, but the opposition may have no choice but to accept federal authority.

There's no reason why California shouldn't reject all forms of energy production that aren't "natural". Of course, if they thought they were paying Enron a lot of money for power, wait a few years until their "natural" initiatives kick in.

But, on the other hand, in a few years, the state will be speaking Spanish anyway, and the Hispanics won't be interested in all that "natural", new-agey white-people crapola. They'll go for any sort of power they can get their hands on. They'll probably build two or three nuclear power plants within easy contamination distance of Hollywood (although the direction and the nature of the contamination might well be debated).

It appears that the fossil liberals want to reverse the industrial and technology revolutions, greatly reduce our standard of living, quality of life, and life expetancy, and ultimately, bring back slavery to make up for the resulting agricultural and distribution inefficiencies so they won't starve.

After all, their party, the Democratic Party, supported slavery and opposed civil rights legislation in the 1960s.

I suspect that a lot of rich, white Californians secretly think of their Hispanic "helpers" as little more than slaves. Don't many of them give orders that no hirelings are allowed to look their masters employers in the eye?

You sound pretty reasonable on personal use of energy and a desire to be self-sufficent....I too like those concepts of waste-not but have been wondering why there is a dearth of energy since the whole universe is full of energy, E=MC2, I think we have been way too focused on the lack of and not the abundance of energy and the applications that will give us all the energy we desire. Let's not be blinded by the sulfurous hot-air of the Luddites and other assorted do-gooders. I have come to believe we are only energy limited by ignorance, political power struggles and ideology.

We should always strive for improved efficiency and reduced polution, as long as the benefits outweight the costs, including the individual and societal costs.

The ultimate clean solution will probably use nuclear power for electricity and to generate hydrogen from water to fuel clean hydrogen burning motor vehicles.

For the short term, we should drill in Anwar, Alaska, and install the infrastructure so we can pump oil on an as-needed basis to counter threats and inapproprate influence from OPEC and Saudi Arabia. We would need to pump enough oil to pay for the infrastructure, and then can limit the volume pumped based on external factors as appropriate. Merely having this infrastructure in place, ready to pump, will reduce the adverse influence of OPEC and Saudi Arabia.

Ultimately, we should probably start an aggressive energy research program similar in scope and ambition to the successful space program (which had the lofty goal of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to Earth).

Perhaps we should form an "OFEC" cartel - "Organization of Food Exporting Countries" - that would control the supply and price of food exported to countries that are members of OPEC and/or that support or trade with those countries. This is just a a thought that would require further research on food production and trade to determine if is is feasible.

Regarding Nobel-prize nominee Dr. Helen Caldicott, a Nobel prize (http://nobelprize.org/) is more of a negative or red flag than a positive.

These prizes seem to be awarded on the basis of who is more anti-American.

This is similar to movies that win awards and occolades at the Cannes Film festival in France (http://www.festival-cannes.fr/index.php?langue=6002). The most recent anti-American Michael Moore movie is such an example.

Warms the heart to see that not all the Luddites are in Massachusetts.

We will be killing off our own proposed LNG transfer site (now moved out to 13 miles off Marblehead neck) in the coming months.

Gather up your twigs if you want hot food, because in a few years the lights will start to go out in various places. Soon we will be like the peoples paradise of Cuba, with rationed electricity. I think this is the ultimate goal, until we are returned to the stone age, that is.

The worst racists, bigots, and even anti-semites I have encountered and observed are Democrats, often wealthy Democrats. Many of these "limousine liberals" feel good about themselves by going to exclusive parties in their fine expensive clothing to talk about how they feel so much concern about the poor and less fortunate, and how money and "evil corporations" are the cause of all of society's problems.

Never mind the fact that they earn high incomes from these corporations and own stock in these corporations. Never mind the fact that corporations provide large numbers of jobs, and that we cannot rely on mom and pop family businesses to feed America and produce much of what we need, including freeways, large buildings, and modern automobiles and aircraft. Not to mention the large and complex military defense systems that we rely upon for our freedom and safety.

LNG is still a fossil fuel and there are a lot of environmentalists opposed to fossil fuels of any kind.

They're also opposed to hydroelectricity, windmills, nuclear power, .... They only support technologies that don't yet exist. They never support any technology that can actually be used today or within the next 25 years.
