"Inspired by New Hampshire's 'outlaw manicurist,' another Granite Stater is stepping forward -- literally -- to defy license-related laws. Russell Kanning of Keene has announced he will approach a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint at Manchester airport on June 11 and refuse to cooperate with the requirement to show ID until he is arrested. 'In a free country,' he says, 'you do not need the government's permission to travel. My goal is to visit Independence Hall by flying to Philadelphia, but I will refuse to show identification. Before airport security was federalized in 2001, I was free to do this, but not anymore.'
YEAH! ABBY HOFFMAN! EXACTLY!
His passport probably stunk like hell's sewage, too.
Then he won't have anyone worry about his, and others' security when he wants to fly.
This guy's an idiot!
I absolutely agree with you on this. He is being foolish and selfish. I just see that there can be extremes to both the left and the right. And neither is prudent.
This guy is all over the place announcing this act. Smells to me like he's hoping to get his 15 minutes of fame (along with the book and movie rights).
Oh, and by the way, Ben Franklin is one of our greatest forefathers and his wisdom on the matter of liberty (seeing that he risked his neck for yours and mine) should never be seen as foolish.
As a signer of the Declaration of Independence he risked being caught and executed by the English Crown. Of which half or more were. I think of all the blood that has been shed for our freedoms and the rights the Constitution has given us. I can't see just throwing them away because we are afraid of more attacks on us. If we were to do this, than we would be living in fear and a freedomless society very quickly. I fear only that in the interest of security we are giving up far too many rights. I can also consider that the mode of transprotation used in the attacks on 9/11 were not thought of 230 years ago. So I will live with showing my ID and maybe being searched at the Airport once in a while. Beyond that I get somewhat nervous.
Yeah, and have CNN there to film it too. That would be a cherry clip. ROFLMAO
Well said.
When they quit searching 80 year old, white, female, English speaking Americans and stop allowing-without-checking a-rab looking people that don't speak English, to board the airplanes, I'll take this police-state, homeland security nonsense a little more seriously...Til then, it's a joke...
Hey, they search me and I'm a 30 something white guy who has an insidious Yankee regionalism. Stereotyping the work in progress sure doesn't help.
The reason why they single out older people alot is because they're more likely to be taken advantage of by those who would want to slip a bomb onto a plane. I know it looks ridiculous but there is a method to the madness.
If you don't want to take it seriously, fine. That's your opinion. But don't try to tell me that this dickhead has the solution, either!
But that's his whole point! The airline SHOULD let him fly regardless, because it's his RIGHT to police himself and not to have big brother do it for him. If the airline doesn't let him on then they're wrong. Get it?
You side with this whacko if you want to. My conscience is clear.
