A Glimmer Of Hope At Annapolis

...The last such meeting, the Camp David summit between Yasser Arafat and Ehud Barak, sponsored by then-President Bill Clinton, was followed by massive violence. Therefore, the most we have learned to hope for from such meetings is nothing. This one will either be meaningless or catastrophic.

There is an interesting twist to this meeting, however. The Arab League voted to encourage Arab foreign ministers to attend. The Saudis have announced they will be present, along with the Egyptians and Jordanians who were expected there. Even the Syrians said they will attend, as long as the future of the Golan Heights is on the table. We would expect the Israelis to agree to that demand because, with more bilateral issues on the table, less time will need to be devoted to Palestinian issues. And that might suit many of the Arab states that are ambivalent, to say the least, about the Palestinians.

My theory is that Iran is intentionally being isolated by this conference. If nothing else, they will realize they don’t have as much support as they thought previously simply by the fact that everyone else went to Annapolis without them.

You mean Israel?

And when will Pres. Bush honor his promise to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem? Inquiring minds want to know.

When it becomes the capital of Palestine.

To understand the Arab world and the Palestinians:

In the movie, Independence Day, the US President asks the one live Martian specimen what the aliens wanted from us.

His answer: “To die!”

Palestinians = aliens. Jews = humans.

All else is window dressing for the easily fooled.
