Science cannot be critiqued like an aspect of popular culture. Anybody can tell you why they like or dislike art, music, food, or literature, because those evaluations rely on personal opinion and taste, something everyone has. Science is evaluated based on its merits by people who have the training to do so, something the general populace do not have.
