FReep this Poll: Should Doctors Handing out Fake Notes in Wisc. lose their Licenses?

Since it broke yesterday, this story has been igniting the internet and blogosphere. Multiple doctors have been reportedly handing out phony "doctor's notes" in order to prolong and enliven union rallies in Wisconsin. While unethical and underhanded by itself, these fake notes also break several "rules," as pointed out by this physician:

Is it really his position that he is conducting medical examinations in the midst of thousands of people while attaining a right to privacy? One of the most important things in a genuine patient/physician interaction is honesty and this [man] is dishonest!

The question is, what should happen to them. Most of their names have been leaked, so they will be unable to escape their actions. Even Andrew Breitbart was able to get a phony note. So, what do they deserve?

I vote yes, and I can tell you that the sentiment among physicians on the physicians-only discussion forum,Sermo.com, is definitely affirmative.

That’s up to the controlling legal authority, as Al Gore would say. I doubt such behavior rises to the level of license revocation. I would imagine the penalty is well established for such violations.

Any doctors in the house? How serious a violation are we looking at here?

How could the Dr’s know they’re sick unless he examines them? Then too, he’s affirming something he’s not checked. So yeah, pull their license or suspend it for a certain period.

Don’t worry, they’re fake doctors, so they don’t have a license.

There is another violation here, fraudulent claiming of sick time by the teachers. I’m more curious about that than I am about the doctors’ behavior.

I assume these pampered babies get ‘personal days’ also, which they could have used legally. Maybe not, since they took the sick day route.

They should lose their patients. Would you want quacks like that meddling with your health?

Quite a few of them have been positively identified, and they are medical doctors with licenses.

They are parties to fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud since they performed no examination and just handed notes to protesters so they could have a phony excuse for violating their contracts. They should at least be reprimanded by the licensing Board if not subject to criminal action for fraud.

And on the contrary, if some were publicity plants they should be prosecuted for practicing medicine without a license.

Sure but they get first digs at the new doc-in-the-box positions when ObamaCare officially kicks in. Rewards for their loyal service in the revolution.

Don't know about the legal requirements in state, but usually personal or vacation days have to be approved in advance.

There's no question the teachers that left conducted an illegal walkout. With a sickout, it's hard to prove, cause it's difficult to prove that an individual wasn't sick.

What the teachers are counting on is their belief that a mass walkout like this would make it too difficult to discipline everyone. When there's a riot after a championship game, most of the vandals get off because it would clog up the court system. They're probably also counting on the hierarchy that should be disciplining them being sympathetic to their cause and declining to do so.

One of the things that is going to happen, and soon, is that civil service protection will go away. I personally know a guy that came to work with a blood alcohol of around .4 and after $50,000 in legal fees he got his job back, with all pay for time off. Several months ago, this same guy got busted for DWI. He got fired again, and probably will get his job back. I know of another situation where a cop got fired for working security while on duty (paid by two employers) and was fired. City spent $200,000 trying to fire him and lost.

Nah, they should be sentenced to ten years practicing at a freebie hippie clinic in some inner city, Indian Reservation or small town in dire need of a doctor.
