The alleged mass murderer who killed nearly 100 people in Norway on Friday may be facing just 21 years in prison if convicted. Norway does not have the death penalty.

Oslo police chief of staff Roger Andresen told the San Francisco Chronicle that the maximum prison term suspected killer Anders Behring Breivik could face is 21 years under Norwegian law. Police are labeling the attacks as acts of terrorism, according to the Wall Street Journal.

San a death penalty, 21 years seems about right...consecutively 92 times.

Then add on a few more consecutive sentences for bomb making; impersonating an officer; a few others, including however many attempted murder charges there are.

Pretty soon, it should add up to nearly a life sentence.

“He should be defenestrated.”

Yeppers! From the 92nd floor...one flight up per victim.

Last time I checked, EU defined “life” in prison as a maximum of 25 years actually spent behind bars.

Enlightened, aren’t they?

“I hear he hasn’t stopped laughing since he threw down his gun and surrendered unscathed to the approaching SWAT team”

Too bad he wasn’t holding a dog when SWAT finally showed up.

He will collect a pension from the Socialist government and then use his time to strangle baby rabbits.

Thanks PROCON. Hey, living with the risk of having 90 children mass-murdered is a LOT better than maybe executing the wrong criminal.

Some stats for Norway picked up off the web. Last execution 1948. Abolition of death penalty 1979. Population 4.9 million estimate for 2011, 4.5 million for 2001 census. 25 murders in 2006. It has a very low murder rate until two days ago when I would say the this guy just skewed everything.
