Hat tip to Adobe expert and author Mara Zebest for inquiring about the Chris Matthews ad. The ad was also mentioned on Rush Limbaugh's radio show today. This is not the first time Chris Matthews suggested Obama was born overseas. It was in 2007 that Chris Matthews reported on the air that Obama was a Muslim and born in Indonesia. It's also not the first mainstream media outlet to scrub information about Obama. Fox's Bill O'Reilly scrubbed a segment about Obama's social security number.

RUSH: Merritt, New York, back to the phones. Tom, great to have you on the program, sir. Hello.
CALLER: Thank you, Rush. Listen, I just want to make a quick point about Chris Matthews and just how crazy he is. An example of the fact is these commercials that he’s been running, that run incessantly on his network. He’s actually running a commercial, Rush, that is antithetical to everything they’ve been talking about for the last two years regarding this birther issue. I don’t know if you’ve seen it, but he actually runs a commercial touting “American exceptionalism,” saying that an example of American exceptionalism is the fact that Barack Obama came from another country and was elected president of the United States.
RUSH: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! They’re running that as a promo on MSNBC?
CALLER: Yes, they are.
RUSH: It’s Matthews that says that?
CALLER: It’s Matthews that says it.
RUSH: Where is he? Is he in an abandoned railroad car graveyard when he says that, like Sergeant Schultz is? Where is he?
CALLER: No, he’s not. He’s actually, I believe, sitting — I don’t know — it looks like something that’s overlooking the White House, and he’s actually motions to the White House at the end of the commercial and he says, “You can’t do that in China or France. You can’t go to these countries and become Chinese or French,” and then he says, “American exceptionalism,” and he points to the White House.
RUSH: Well —
CALLER: It’s insane, it’s insane.
RUSH: So he actually says that that’s the definition of American exceptionalism that you can come from another country and be president?
CALLER: Yes. And he holds Obama out as the example.
RUSH: Yeah. Well, “respect we much.”
So the point of this video is that Matthew said stuff that was edited out? I don’t need to waste 5 minutes of blather to accept that. Weak.
Matthews knows something we don’t know. It irks him to have to keep it under wraps. He’s working up to spilling the beans but he’s being held in check by the powers that be. One day we’ll know what he knows. Given Obama’s dismal poll numbers, that day will probably be sooner than later.
I’ve seen that commercial many times, but all I heard was fingernails across a chalkboard - weird.

So does anyone anywhere have the actual video where Chris Matthews claims that Obama was born overseas? Or is this like that Obama “I’m not running for president” quote in his debate with Alan Keyes that has been so thoroughly scrubbed that even Keyes himself has no recollection of it?

If you're going to make the claim, provide the evidence. This "it was scrubbed from the internet!" stuff is a nonsense excuse. I'm not buying it.

He probably wants to help Hillary. Barack may give him tingles up his leg, but Hillary gives him the happy ending.
The lower Obama’s polls go the more we will learn about his hidden background. He is on a downhill slide. Consumer confidence has hit Jimmah Carter levels. Nobody likes a loser but the Dems are especially jittery. They don’t want to face an epic wipe out in ‘12. If Obama becomes too much of a liability—and he will—they will sabotage him in ways we couldn’t dream of. It’s coming; bank on it.
So I need to scour the internet for some non-existant Chris Matthews quote? It doesn't work that way.
I have a better idea. How about those that are claiming Matthews said this cough up the link. I won't be holding my breath.
