The Occupy Wall Street protesters do not trust nor appreciate that capitalism is the only economic system capable of generating the wealth required to lift its entire citizenry out of poverty. Look around; there are no poor people in America other than those measured against some screen that compares relative wealth based on a subjective standard that contrast the material possessions of one citizen to another.
What the protesters should be advocating for is the end of crony capitalism which is based on government's intervention into the market place. Inevitably, government action destroys competition, distorts capital flows, and shift risk in ways that harm the larger economy and benefit those who are politically connected. This is as far from free market capitalism as you can get and we have moved more and more in this direction over time. The drift began with the progressive era and has been accelerating of late. If the picture that you post reflects your educational background I doubt that youve spent much thinking time on economic matters.
I personally detest crony capitalism and believe that it was government through the tax code, certain regulations, and other means that have screwed things up. Using the financial crisis as an example, if you trace it to its roots, you will see that it originated from bad public policy regarding housing and was made much worse by failed government policy that undermined any sense of moral hazard leading to exceptionally risky investment decisions by both individuals and corporations.
The source of our problems can always be traced to some government action that was (probably) well meaning when taken, but that ultimately had a serious negative consequence.

It’s going to rain and blow in New York for the next couple of days. Those who aren’t driven off will at least get a good washdown.
nothing socialist is sustainable.
This is a site that has great answers to those OWS people’s signs: http://www.michellesmirror.com/2011/10/people-of-ows-like-people-of-wal-mart.html
Great point.
You are so right.
As the situation in Greece so aptly demonstrates...
I checked the link out. Absolutely amazing. All of those people are losers. Going to college for 7-12 years? Multiple degrees in garbage? Bad mouthing your employer, getting fired and thinking it is the banks fault? No wonder these idiots vote Rat. They are too stupid to think for themselves.
you know why this won’;t work , because they have no common message, most of their messages are not what go withe American people.
They are in a city with millions
This city is one of the most liberal cities in the country
This city is one of the most union.
All they can get is a few hundred, Hell I live in a small town and we got 5,000 at a tea party on the day other bigger cities like Jacksonville was having their’s.
The left tried the coffee party, their demo at DC after Beck’s and now this plus the name calling and having media on their side and they all failed.

I.e. Fascism!!!!
What do they think a Women’s Studies or Psych degree will get them, besides retail. Only need so many Psychologists and Women’s Studies, I’ve go nothing.
So what do the “indignados” want? A socialist form of government like Venezuela and, I guess, Cuba.
They promise troubled waters ahead. It scares me to think of all the money Chávez is spending in armaments and the secret agreements he is signing with Iran. There are rumors that Venezuela is sending Iran uranium for Iran´s nuclear bombs

The Occupy Houston crowd amounted to dozens of people.
A big nothing-burger.
Oh, it’s sustainable...until they run out of ‘other people’s money’ for pizza!

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant!
‘The People’s Republik of Madistan’ (where I post from) had 57 attend a pre-meeting of where and when they’re going to meet again.
Fifty-Seven. Yep. That’s it. And there’s NOTHING the dirty hippies in THIS town like to do more than bong hits and screw in the parks under tarps, LOL!
I guess their shock and awe is not working out like they wanted to, what’s their exit strategy ?
Thanks but someone already sent me the same thing. Funny though!!
